Shithouse stadiums

Just watching MOTD and this thread came to mind - Christ, the London Stadium is god awful. I'd hate to play there. It'd be depressing.

Daniel Levy is clearly copying McCabe, the space at the LHS of the Kop is for the community centre, the RHS space is for the Business Centre

The hole at the RHS, behind the Stadium, are the foundations for the Arsene Wenger Statue

One of the worst grounds I've been in was the Lane, early 60s, before the BLUT was built. It was a 3-sided dump with three sheds. One of the best grounds of that era was Hillsborough. The irony is that we've got one of the best now with further improvements in the pipeline whilst theirs has degenerated into a decrepit rustbucket that needs condemning. I never envisaged that 50 years ago and I fucking love it.

Excellent point. Back in the 60s I had one of those weird 'uncles' that all families seemed to have. He lived just off Middlewood Road and would occasionally take me to see the pigs. They'd been gifted the funds and interest-free loans to build Hillsborough for the 1966 World Cup and, being used to the Lane, I was profoundly depressed sitting in the 'cantilever' North Stand compared to the wooden death trap that our John Street stand was. Everything about them seemed light years ahead of us. Even the pre-match and half-time music was better. They'd have music like Thin Lizzy's 'Whisky In The Jar', we'd run out to 'Ilkley Moor Bah Tat'. I think a lot of it was because our directors lived in the past - Dick Wragg etc.

Now we've got a far superior team, fans and stadium. And Wednesday's financial woes are around the corner.
