bit disappointing 2nd half & we've dropped 2 pts there. yes the ref didnt help flow of the game for about 30 mins giving QPR corners that weren't & what was a Free kick to QPR wasn't to us. as slowly the referee lost the plot

but we never had the same quality as we did in the 1st half. as after 1st 20 you felt it could be 3 or 4. but in 2nd half we stopped playing the ball to feet & starting throwing possession away as soon as we got it back, by hoofing it. now was that the players struggling under pressure. but i always felt we were hanging on & we let QPR back in the game, if you dont retain possession well against anyone you will be punished.

Yep disappointing - but not the end of the world at all. Cooper for Davies is an easy one. I’d also drop Robinson for Souttar - but not sure Wilder will brave enough to do that……. which might end up being a problem.
My thoughts exactly...also hope Shackleton is fit soon as Gilchrist wasn't great.

QPR shithousing an injury time winner?
Was thinking about both these things from the moment we went 2-0 up.
Credit to QPR for not panicking and doing what I thought was exactly the same 2nd half as the 1st, which gave them control of possession and got them forward into some set-piece situations without ever really threatening from open play. They only needed one set-piece to work out well, and then anything could happen, and it did.
In contrast, we couldn’t seem to figure how to really get control of the game in the second half, and our shape and personnel seemed to mean we struggled to get hold of the ball, and then turned it over fairly easily. In brief moments, we put a passing move together that looked great, and then after that glimpse we’d be back to the same place - without the ball - and in the end we paid for it.

Their end, nought you can do...enjoy the crowd noise and the footy
Hard to judge when you're watching from afar but the atmosphere in the stadium seemed quite muted, and I don't just mean at the end of the game either.

For those that were actually at the game, is that the case? I do appreciate what you hear in the stadium is different to watching it on the TV or wherever.

Yes it was, especially 2nd half

I’d say it was quite muted 5 mins after our 2nd goal. We had a long spell without the ball that just quietened the crowd and it never got back going. Even in injury time it was more disbelief that we’d chucked the game rather than the usual noise when going for another goal

That was not acceptable, at all. First half was fine - got into a deserved early lead, looked comfortable etc. - but we failed to drive home the advantage that we had. Not the end of the world, but had we matched Chesterfield's first half today, there's no way we'd be sat here with a draw.

Second half was an absolute fucking shambles.

No energy through midfield or attack. Never even tried to press like we did first half, and when there was any attempt it was a single player trying to look like they were still putting the hard yards in.

Anel was a passenger, he did absolutely fuck all. JLT may he captain, but he's proven again that he is not reliable enough at the standard we should be playing at. Trying to attack the ball like he did for their 2nd goal is disgraceful. He should be staying in position to cover the ball potentially going to their wide man (as it ended up doing). Then he wanders back into the box, and doesn't bother to mark anyone.

But the worst thing of all to me, was the lack of reaction from the bench. It was blatantly obvious within 3 minutes of the 2nd half (and you could even have figured it out with how they tried to play in the 1st half), that they were trying to isolate Burrows for a winger to force a mistake out of him defensively. The smart option was to out McCallum on. More Champ experience, he's more solid defensively, and he has more pace to he able to make up for any mistakes he might make. And yet that never got recognised? Pathetic.

We didn't make a sub until the 77th minute. And when we did, it was for Gilchrist? Why? Was he tired? Because he looked far more comfortable than. Burrows did.

It's almost as if we did not expect QPR to pose any threat at all, and had prepared nothing whatsoever for the possibility that they would. If we want to achieve anything this season, there need to be lessons learned from that farce today, and quickly too.

Sorry mate, usually if I say these things and bet on them I’m nailed on to lose. Was hoping I’d put a hex on such a scenario

I actually think we’ll do better away from home than at home this season. We have not won a league game at home since last December I think - and most defeats were very damaging- not just for the players but equally for the fans - hence the nervous atmosphere when we were 2-0 up.

Classic game of two halves .. first half fast tempo , moved ball about very well & two well worked goals .
Second half , early goal got their tails up & we just expected it to carry on & sat deeper & deeper as the game went on .
Two poor goals to concede & I thought CW went a bit too defensive … 2 points dropped without a doubt but we’ll learn ⚔️

It's been muted for many years now, even in the promotion and prem seasons it was pretty quiet most of the time. It's the same at most English league grounds now.

First 20 minutes we were brilliant, looked a clear division above a really poor QPR.
You had a stoing feeling this would finish at least 4 or 5-0.

However on 30 minutes we took our foot off the pedal and QPR started to have a few attacks but never looked convincing.

At half time the mood was strangely slightly flat......because the match had been so easy.
I said to those next to me that 2-0 up is a dangerous scoreline.
I predicted that QPR would give it a go in the early stages of the 2nd half....so we needed to be on our game in the early stages.

2nd half....QPR had no choice but to be positive and go for it.
We were a bit lazy and decided to sit back, seemingly happy to settled for the 2-0.
We didn't really look like conceding then it became 2-1 to QPR.

At 2-1 the game was now very different. QPR were more attacking and looked the better side.
We were defending in numbers trying to hold on.....then as expected they eventually equalised, with Avery late goal.

In injury time we obviously did all the attacking as QPR sat back happy with the 2-2.

Conclusion:
Felt like a defeat because we were so impressive for 20 minutes....the match was almost boring because we were so superior.
However 2nd half QPR were far the better team and if I'm being honest they deserved the draw.....overall a fair result.

We live and learn, plenty of positives but plenty of negatives too.
Think Wilder was the main reasons we dropped points as I think there was a general complacency and over confidence in that 2nd half.
People talk about dropping 2 points, which we did .....but no panic because there's so much of the season left to play.

I'd love to know what the Palace kid was thinking while watching us hoof the ball up to Moore.

QPR got lucky, the game changed when the head banded player who took a corner and pulled is hamstring got took off,the player who replaced him was miles better and from then on QPR were better than us yes even when they went down to 10 men.

They're all still in the Fan Zone.
Hundreds and hundreds streamed out from 34 mins onwards through to 50 mins and hundreds streamed back in through to 52 mins. So many people don’t watch what they came to see.

i did enjoy that 3 QPR away fans after the match, nearly paid the price for getting abit cocky as they were chanting "we only need 10 men" it was slightly amusing & i did reply "+ the referee" but some less tolerant sheff utd fans came down the road. telling QPR to shut up & they carried on, but on the 3rd attempt when he was about to knock him out. they did shut up
