Got a feeling we’ll play very well but they’ll shithouse a 1-1.

My main worry is how we defend Preston's set pieces and crosses into the box. I've never felt so unsure about how we deal with this type of threat before. Maybe the stats don't back up my fears so far but my perception is that we aren't coping well with this type of basic threat, just like we seemed so vulnerable to a long ball over the top of the last man last season.

There are a lot of Championship teams that rely heavily on set pieces and my fear is that we might not be able to out-score all these teams if we concede a couple of times per match.

Hopefully my fears are unfounded.

Yes, I'm hoping the presence of Olsen at 6'5" will help alleviate some of the problems with set pieces and crosses.. i know he probably won't be in the line up v Preston though.. even Blackman despite his faults seemed to make me feel more confident with such as corners, just down to his size and presence.
But maybe the problem was v WBA, we couldn't play through the press, and with the players we now have, hopefully we are more capable of doing that now with more options further forward with players like MGW and Ndaiye who can get the ball on the turn and go past players and turn defenders.
Hopefully we can back up Saturday with another win, but I expect these will be more of a test than Posh.

If team news is spot on which I expect from the poster then this is the most likely line up:

With the same tempo as 2nd half last game I think we're still dangerous.

i honestly don’t see how you can play the worlds thickest footballer In Burke ahead of Osborn. When we are looking for creativity and interplay.

sharp would also count himself hugely unlucky to be dropped for Brewster who hasn’t showed any indication he could do what sharp did on Saturday

It was posted earlier mate that Ozzy is I'll and Sharp carrying a knock.

Read the post about their injuries and illness above my post. Same poster that cracked the JOC injury story and Brewster signing.

Remember that game against Preston where they battered us and we came back to win 3-2. James Thomas scored the winner. We did the same to them the year later I remember but it was 2-2.
Yes I remember, there was a big crowd there that day as it was part of a 3 game package with wednesday at home and west brom at home.

It was between Christmas and New Year. The big crowd then would be a disappointment now, it was 22,316.

We only got 25k for the Wednesday game

So now I’m so excited about seeing NDieye and MGW tonight. Are we now the “real deal” or was the massacre of Peterborough a fluke?

Ndiaye’s debut showed his talent really is beyond question. The next tests will be of his fitness and application. If he has those attributes too (and there’s no guarantee whatsoever), then we’ll have a hugely sought after player.

As for MGW, let’s just enjoy whilst we can. He’s evidently playing a level below where he belongs, but seems to be totally committed to enjoying himself here.

Agree….we’re currently playing catch up.…so we could do with 3 wins from the next 3 games….
It would be a really boost confidence with many citing the uncanny resemblance between SJ and Wilders managerial starts.
Being close to bottom of the table after a few games then going on a great run of results shooting up the table.

Win the next 3 then we can resort back to average 4 points (win and a draw) from 2 games promotion target.
We need to win the next 7 games to get to an average 2 per game (13 games, 26 points). Easy.

Disappointed that Burke is seen as the Osborn replacement, might mean that MGW plays on the left though as I think Burke struggles enough with kicking a ball and breathing at the same time, never mind playing on the left side of the pitch.
You're disappointed? How must Luke Freeman feel? Plays well in the cup games, plays well coming off as a sub. Gets ignored in favour of Forrest Gump!

Some early team news. Burke and Brewster come in for Sharp (knock) and Ozzy (ill).

Be really surprised if this is true. If those 2 were out, Brewster will go on the left and McBurnie will go up top. I don't think we'll see much of Burke again, we were trying to get shut of him a couple of weeks ago 🤔

Edit: and just as I post that, United post a pic of Burke haha
