Why the fuck when we have a counter attack going on in stoppage time are we taking it to the corner as if we're Worksop Town trying to hold on for a replay in the Cup? We've just gone ahead and are in the ascendency, put the knife in. Celebrating a third goal is a really good way to waste time

How often do we concede a late late goal... it's been happening for years. Opposition teams must all know by now that if they keep going to the final whistle against us they've got a great chance of coming away with something

It's because of their boring, panicky, attitude

You could just see it coming from the second Berge scored with 6 minutes left

Instead of controlling the game or going to finish it off, they dropped off, conceded ground, hoofed it clear and as usual some fuckwit in defence will always have an absolute fucking brainfart whenever they're wearing a Sheffield United shirt

I enjoyed the game. We were fun to watch again. Shit happens.
Shit happens to us because we haven't got a 6ft 4in centre half who wins everything in the air. Not sure Davies is the answer, in this league you need an old fashioned head the ball nutter at centre half.

We are going to play plenty of big physical teams like Preston and we need to cope a lot better than we did tonight.

And to say something really unpopular but what the fuck was Billy doing conceding the foul there ? Talk about inviting pressure.
Loved Baldocks reaction when trying to take throw in after goal. He was still trying but had no one to throw it to. Furious reaction to kick ball in air.

I need an app that will temporarily block United on social media when they do something extremely irritating like tonight.

Disappointing draw in the end but it was a fair result. Both teams looked fairly equal.

For the second game running our keeper has had to make a great save to keep us in it at 1-1. We can't keep doing this.

I thought we were a bit ragged going forward. Nothing really coming off. Everything a little rushed. Not much coming off. At the back we looked a bit of a mess again. 3/4 of our defence all not good enough at times. We'll be disappointed to concede so late on but we gave them a lot of chances.

I thought the midfield was poor again today. I thought he lost that battle. To be fair though, there wasn't a great deal in front of them a lot of the time.

Olsen - 5 - Mixed debut. Completely misjudged the flight of the ball for their first. Kicked the ball straight to them as well and lucky to get away with it. Made a great save to keep us level and generally looked quite strong and secure but some of his punching is a bit last-minute for my heart. Not the best debut but clearly a better keeper than the rest of them.
RND - 4 - Good going forward early on and put some great crosses in. Stopped doing it for some reason and just stood back when Freeman was expecting his to go past him. Defensively an utter mess. Ball watching for their first and completely lost his man. Got rolled agian and had to be booked and he was dodgy defensively all night.
Robinson - 2 - Sorry, he had a decent game last time despite the mistake but today he was woeful. terrible header to set-up their equaliser and got far too easily turned by their Danish forward. They create several chances running between him and RND and that was where we were weakest.
Egan - 6 - Dreadful header and gave the ball away but overwise was solid and made some important blocks and headers. I'm really not convinced by him and high balls though.
Baldock - 7 -Best game of the season from him. Looked lively all game and got forward well. his balls in were mixed but he was constantly causing them problems.
Norwood - 5.5 - Started off brilliantly. Showed determination and drive I've not seen for 2 years. Fighting to win balls back. Getting to 50/50 balls. But it lasted for only 30 minutes and he gradually returned to sideways and backward and slowed the game down.
Fleck - 6 - Again, mixed. Did a couple of great driving runs and then messed up a shot when he had to do better. He looked a bit off the pace though and flat. not the same player we saw at the weekend. Hopefully just a fitness thing. Half his play is quite lively, the other quite slow.
Freeman - 6 - Great cross for the first goal and looks good on the few occasions he tries to beat his man but almost every time he's turns inside or back. I'm not sure why he doesn't fancy a go. Not got the pace but still has enough to make some room.
Gibbs-White - 6 - Great finish for the goal and looked lively and willing. He's got a great workrate but a lot of what he tried didn't work out and it really wasn't his night.
Ndiaye - 5 - Poor, I thought. Nothing stuck and nothing really worked out. He had a bit of a run shortly before going off but was tightly marked and looked weak. All too often simply levered off the ball.
Sharp - 6 - Wasn't really on it tonight but was doing a lot of the work alone. The ball didn't really stick for him but kept plugging away. I don't think he's a solution to do all the donkey work all season. Helped set-up the goal but an absolutely stupid foul to give them that free kick which led to their second. All a bit huff and puff.

Subs

Berge - 7 - Got the goal and looked good on a few drives but also got muscled off the ball a few times and his defensive workrate needs to be better. We do look more dangerous with him on the ball and he should be starting ahead of Freeman, imo, but not sure that works with Fleck and Norwood.
Hourihane - 5 - He's come on twice now and done virtually nothing. I've hardly noticed him again tonight apart from trying to take the ball into the corner and easily being muscled out of it. Not convinced by him at all.
Brewster - 6.5 - Came on and looked lively. got on the ball and had a go, put a great pass through. But again, when we had 3 on 1 with Fleck he ran offside and just in front of him and did more harm than good. He just doesn't seem to be able to play as a striker.

Slav - 7 - Difficult one. Things just didn't click like Saturday. The midfield still looks flat and I'm not sure Freeman have half of Osborn's energy, so it might not work as a three. Bringing Berge on made a difference when Freeman was waning. Brewster also made us more dangerous going forward. I suspected he'll be disappointed with both result and performance.

Preston - They looked ok. McGuire and Riis both looked lively upfront for them and Johnson is a wiley customer and has a great pass on him given time. Van Den Berg looked pretty good and the two in midfield are strong. They'll be mid-table, I should think.

Stupid foul and no need for it.

Ahhhh diddums
Did somebody say something truthful about preshy weshy Yooonited,

If I knew what any one of "peshy", "weshy" or "yoonited" meant, there is a possibility I would have debated with you. As it is, you are (as usual) about as decipherable as a toddler. I don't have one of them yet so you'll have to forgive my lack of familiarity. Perhaps if I just hit random keys in response it will help you?

hhopasdhfasodfhs

Annoyed with the result, fairly happy with the performance.

Plus sides: We’re creating chances, Jimmy Fleck has fucked off back up North and John’s back, Norwood was good, Egan was good, Berge made a positive difference when he came on.

On the downside: We missed 3 easy chances, we panicked at the back, Olsen inspired no confidence, Robinson is still shit, Baldock still can’t cross.

Just got back..deliberately not read any other comments before posting.

I must be a jinx…..that’s 2 injury time “last kick of the ball” goals conceded in the last 2 matches I’ve attended.
Always seems a cruel way to drop points but I think (for an away team) they deserved it.
Yes we were slightly more dominant and slightly the better team on the night but you expect that when you’re at home.

Positives from tonight
If you try to ignore the result it was an entertaining game. PNE are the first opposition team who didn’t sit back to park the bus….they tried to take us.
We tried to create and unlike previous games we look a threat going forward.
You can see MGW is far too good for this division….always trying flicks….great back heel to start the move for our second goal.
Impressed with Berge tonight, he made some direct runs into the box and the goal will help boost his confidence.
The new goalie was partially at fault for their first goal but he made up for it pulling off a stunning save late in the game at 1-1.

Negatives from tonight
Thought the defence was poor. You just need to punt a long ball over the top and we look shaky.
N‘Dieye struggled to get into the match, he showed the odd good touch then went off. I saw him point at his knee

Conclusion
Think we can score 2 goals most matches but it’s looking like we will concede a goal or 2 every match too.
Think we have a chance of the play-offs mainly due to our deep squad
but unless we sort out the central defence we can’t finish top 2.

Thought the overall performance was decent/ acceptable. We now look a threat going forward hallelujah but it’s the defence that let us down tonight.
At least it’s something that should improve as the new goalie gets to know his defence. So I’m still very optimistic regards play-offs.

However Watford and Fulham fans did warn us that SJ tends to over focus on attack leaving his defence open on the counter attack.
So you see plenty of high scoring open games. Sounds OK to me.

Agree Re Billy’s foul at the end. I don’t mind us keeping it in the corner but we need to execute it better. Hourihane taking it to the corner at the Kop and then chipping it out to no one then followed by Sharp’s unnecessary foul needs to be stopped too. Robinson is clearly pour and the new favourite Scouse Scapegoat, but others were at fault too

the start of the match has me worried in front, in case of any real emergency, that alarm i was sat up, thinking have we got to leave soon, trying to eat my chips & it was rudderless. i was looking for some kind of confirmation. but i dont think anyone knew if it was real or false alarm or a test

what is it with us a last min conceding oldham, villa, Huddersfield, today & others i cant remember right we always seem to concede in the final moments. all we had to do was head 1 free kick is all we had to defend. it was quite simple header. its annoying as well looking at the table we couldve been 12th with a great 3 pts after a alright display with possibility of 9pts in a week. but we keep giving gifts to opposition

mamma mia Olsen not filling me with confidence. hopefully its just rust on his debut. i hope he improves with time & this isnt his waterloo. as that slip meant it was a gimme (gimme gimme) for Preston striker

Obviously disappointed with the result tonight. Should have held on to 2-1. Overall there are some concerns other than Jack Robinson who is error prone. I thought we were very flaky at the back tonight. Maybe we were trying to play too high a line but we seemed to out of position and uncomfortable when PNE hit quick diagonal ball. There seemed to be a lack of defensive nous and composure. Egan needs to take command more and dictate to the other defenders to ensure we maintain shape.

We got bullied alot tonight. We played nice football and created some chances but there were plenty of times when we were pushed off the ball and physically over powered. Defensively our midfield need to put in a few tackles and man up. Ndiaye and MGW are welcome additions but adding Freeman and Norwood to that you are left with only Fleck who isn't exactly an enforcer. Neither is Berge or Hourihane

So while we have been making progress, to me it looks like we will still have issues with the more physical teams in the division.

I dont think theres a team in this league at least, score as many late goals than us. We have always played till the very end. Berge 84 minutes should be late enough and good enough for 3 points.

MGW oozed class again last night. His mobility, movement and awareness are superb.

Well to be fair, Preston only had the ball for about ten seconds during injury time. It's a shame Robinson misread that header or we would all be saying how great the lads finished the match off.

Definitely thought Hanrahan ???? could/should have put that in the box, we had two well set in there.

Agree….the irony is that we managed the injury time period really well.

In the past under Wilder we always sat back when defending a lead during injury time basically parking the bus inviting pressure.
Last night we kept the ball for 4 of the first 5 minutes.

PNE only had ONE attack and that was an aimless ball booted into our box, targeting the left hand side.

Not seen it anywhere else but apologies if it has already been mentioned but thought Ben Whiteman did alright for them. He was very tight to N'Diaye constantly snapping into him and nudging and jostling him. He didn't play much football but was the sort of defensive midfield presence we don't have. A bit more physical than Fleck or Norwood. We desperately need a physical presence alongside Fleck.

Usual Blades, played well to get 2-1 in front and then pissed about trying to waste time by going to corner flag, coming back when 18 yds out and in good positions, giving it to Baldock to pass back. ( Christ he's about as good as David Batty was at that,). Why not go for that 3rd goal and then we have killed the game off.?
