Tactical master class from Wilder. Thank god new owners tide him down to a new deal before he got nicked by a PL club.

First time I can remember leaving a game with 3 points feeling like we’d lost.

At least we ground another result out

How the hell are we 2nd place lol.
We've robbed a lot of teams this season.
Propper dog shite. Wouldn't it be great if we could beat someone convincingly. How often do we win by more than one goal. Surely we can fluke our way to the Premier league lol

It’s impossible to keep fluking results. Obviously we are a team with special qualities.

What you find is that all the best teams seem to be lucky
And all the worse teams seem to be so unlucky.

Agree with Blade56….weird feeling leaving the game….almost felt like we’d lost
But when we’re promoted no one will think back to this game.

for the neutrals it was probably a very entertaining game. but so stressful & how we won that i don't know. Portsmouth shouldve been out of sight. but at least the team never gave up. we found a win to get those badly needed 3pts.

We desperately need to find defensive organisation. since souttars injury & we've went back to Robinson / anel CB partnership we look so much more exposed defensively. 1 of them got to be dropped. or we go to a 3. as we cant be that wide open v boro. we will get thrashed. it was like keegan trying to win 5-4

happy for brewsters cameo. great assist & that shot at the end. typical of his luck to hit the bar & bounce out

Indeed you don't win 66 points from 31 games without being a good team.

We've been in their position before now,, when the richer than us team bringing's on up to six fresh players of equal or some times even better skill than the ones they take off, to win the game from our tired players.
It's all part of the modern game, that's why you can have six first team subs .
How good they are depends on how much money you have to spend...... :tumbleweed:

Saw the line up before K.O. It looked to me really good and positive with so many attack minded players in the team, but Mousinho has outshone Wilder big time. Absolutely agree, winning that game was a robbery but it seems United are destined for the top flight. Biggest concern for me is that the premiership is all about tactical knowledge and it will be interesting to see how Wilder copes this time around. Really wish the owners had given Wilder an 18 month contract to do a reality check. Middlesbrough are a totally different challenge to Pompey on Wednesday, and it will be an an indicator on how the season will progress.

This division is awful. It's actually insane that we are in 2nd place with how we've played in the majority of games this season.

Not had chance to watch the full 90 yet but ( someone will disagree)

Cooper
Clarke, anel,Holding, burrows
Vini, peck ( lads had a rest now use Choudry after 60/70 minutes)
Jrs,hamer,brewster
Cannon ( replace with Campbell)

Still interested what the new lad from peru will add when he's settled in

I might be wrong here but I've not seen anyone else mention this. Nobody played O'Hares usual position did they? Seemed more a flat 3 that didn't work.

I sort of mentioned it. We really missed him today.

We can't afford to play Campbell and Cannon together. This is where we'll really miss O'Hare and his work rate.

I still can not believe we won that .must admit when i saw the line up i was full of hope ,how wrong i was . The real test will come on Wednesday which for some reason I am not looking forward to one bit . Can not see Boro missing chance after chance like Portsmouth did today . Why are we feeling so down? We are second in the league ,won more matches than any other team in the division yet it does not feel right .

Your post is worded exactly the same as mine, to a tee. It starts with Wilder and conveys through the team. Arrogance, complacent, and an attitude of divine right! !!!

Burnley's conceded tally says it all

It's never been remotely possible before and they shouldn't be exceptional enough to change that

Half the teams in this league have attacks of the level you'd previously expect from L1 teams

yeah good point about the anel/robinson partnership it isnt working thats obvious so we either drop one or both of them or we put holding in and go back to 3 at the back that was an abysmal performance yesterday far and away the worst of the season how portsmouth didnt win that 5 - 1 i will never know play like that against boro and weeds and were gonna get mullered

It’s a team of good players, like good ingredients for a cordon bleu meal, it’s just the feckin chefs gone home ill and cho chefs been left in charge.

Punters will refuse to pay for the meal on Wednesday when we’re handed our new @rsehole on a plate.

Can Wilder change it in time? Yeah if he asks any supporter int stand to pick a line up out of a pool of very good players and someone else to pick subs.

Well after a night to reflect on the game, yesterday's performance feels like a loss despite the three points. Play like that again and another Hull result is on the cards, especially in the next two home games against teams we have already lost to. Then automatic promotion becomes a very difficult ask.

it could be dejavu of when boro beat us 4-1 if they take half the chances Portsmouth had

Doubt we’ll see much of him unless he really shines in training.

Most these players can go on the field with no system and no advice from the coach and give most sides a game, but they need to know a system or style of play and they don't look like they have one, all they need is fine tuning instead they're playing out of position and relying on their ability, it can only be poor coaching it's gone on too long just hoping it'll click, I hope they get it sorted or we could miss out by end of season

He is only in the CB spot when he’s trying to get the ball off the keeper or CBs, if he doesn’t get the ball he’s basically out of play as he just trots about. If he does make forwards runs but doesn’t get the ball again he stays out of position and just trots back. I’ve been watching him closely and time and time again in the middle of the pitch/centre circle we don’t have a player near it as Sousa/Hamer will be getting involved slightly out to the left and Choudrey is trotting about slowly near the CBs. He really is leaving big holes and space in the midfield for pompey to exploit. And if he does get a foot in it is because the ball happens to come very close to him as opposed to him getting there and breaking play up, other than that I’m not sure what he’s doing just trotting about, even for their goal positional im not sure what he’s doing, trots out towards the wide man without really trying to get there and he’s totally took himself out of the game. He’s been really poor for me. Well they all have to be fair.

More "trots" than Wednesday's Kop with the shits!

Ask any 10 fans from any stand and you will get at least 5 different line ups and tactics !!
