That's the only way our games can be mildly entertaining - if the opponents batter us a bit and it gets frantic

We haven't scored any,l repeat, and Robinson isn't playing for Leeds.
Other than that we were awful, however, we still find a way to win.
I'd just like for once that we'd be enjoyable to watch, btw,get Alfie back or hopefully Seriki is nearly fit as Clarke had a nightmare of a game
 
Cannon will struggle this season - so lets accept that and not get on his back.
That performance was like many others this season - very poor but we win. Not enjoyable to watch. No real sense of progress.

Our squad is better than that performance - but with the tactics/team set up we have - we will never get the best out of most of them.

Whoever first brought the word "control" into football tactics needs shooting.
 
The police are out in force - apparently 3 points have been stolen at the Lane. If anyone sees them please don't return them.
 
Let’s be right… Wilder has had an absolute mare for the last 3 games now. We were crying out for a LW, we got one and he plays him on the right for some reason!! God knows where Cannon/Hamer were playing today, nobody can answer that! And one more thing… it’s one or the other between Souza and Choudary! We look so disjointed with such a good squad, we had a system and it was working… sort it Wilder!

It’s all that matters if Wilder actually understands what was wrong and fixes it. But I don’t think he does or will.
 
Terrible performance but we keep getting away with them. Pompey should have scored at least 3 first half. Defence was dire. Midfield was dire. Attack was invisible. And yet, big moments again and we get the 3 points.

Cooper - 8 - Must have wondered what everyone was doing in front of him. Made several good saves.
Burrows - 5 - Fairly poor throughout and unsurprising he came off.
Robbo - 5 - One good tackle at the end but gave away far too many fouls wrestling his man.. Tried to lrt the ball run out late on and got done.
Anel - 3 - Consistently tried to get booked for dissent until he was. Slow. Asleep. Grabbing players. Cut out nothing.
Clarke - 2 - Get a point for a good header second half and a good cross, but Murphy made him look like a non-league player. Let him cross and shoot at will. Might get away with it at WB but we can't have a RB who is worse at defending crosses than Lowe.
Choudhury - 4 - No idea where he was playing. seemed to be about 2 miles away from Souza all game. One really good ball.
Souza - 3 - Last year's Souza. If he put as much energy into running as moaning he'd have been great.
Hamer - 6 - Not his best game but once again he comes up with something. Seems to be having a competition to try and get booked every game. Got away with a couple today.
Campbell - 3 - Largely anonymous. Didn't really impact the game at all
BBD - 2 - Kept trying to get booked. Did f all else. Allowed their left back to have free reign going forward. Shocking.
Canon - 3 - More involved that Campbell but another bad performance.

Subs:

McCallum - 5.5 - Didn't really improve us down the left.
Peck - 6 - A step up from Choudhury and actually gave us legs in the middle.
Rak-Sakyi - 7 - Got the vital goal and made us actually look dangerous going forward.
Brewster - 7 - Great ball to set up the goal and did well when he came on.
Holding - Didn;t actually notice him.

Wilder - 4 - You could argue the subs made the difference but we were terrible today.

we must not play souza and choudray again in home games far too negative has to be one or the other portsmouth must be gutted completely outplayed us today and should have been at least 4 - 1 up at half time
 
I’m one of the more positive ones on this forum but even I admit we were really outplayed.
It was easily our worse performance of the season, the defence, midfield and attack were all isolated from each other.

The Portsmouth players need a drug test….their players were so up for….quicker and stronger.
It was like they had an extra man….every loose ball went to a Pompey player. Also didn’t help that the ref gave every 50/50 to Portsmouth.
Think the ref felt sorry for them, so he tried to help them to earn a deserved win.

Negatives
The defence was so jittery, reminded me of last season in the Premier league….Pompey could easily had 4 goals today.
Robinson was quite decent, thought it was Anel who looked worse…..but this combination just isn’t working.
Clarke had a shocker at right back….Murphy was beating him at will…it was so bad he probably needed subbing off at half time.
Cannon again…..hardly touched the ball. We played 2 up front and they both looked so isolated.
We started slow again…as though we were so confident the players thought they could win without trying

Positives
It’s fantastic that we can (again) play poorly…and today was probably our worse performances of the season….yet still win.
Thought the energy from the subs improved us.
Was impressed with the fighting spirit and mental strength from Brewster, Peck and McCallum.
Special praise for Brewster….he looked eager to impress when he came on….so close to scoring in injury time…blasting the ball against the underside of the cross bar when he’s put clean threw with just the keeper to beat. He strikes the ball really well but as usual he tends to go for power instead of composure.

However if Brewster had scored to make it 3-1 it would have been one of the most unjust scorelines since our 0-4 defeat at home to Scunthorpe when we played brilliantly creating chance after chance, yet ended up being thrashed.

Holding had a much needed run out ensuring we played the last 10 minutes with a back 5.
It was negative tactics from Wilder when he took off Cannon swapping him for Holding…however the negativity actually worked.

Overall
It almost feels embarrassing to celebrate this win…..it fits the definition of daylight robbery
But we live and hopefully learn from this display,…..3 points is 3 points.

How the hell are we 2nd place lol.
We've robbed a lot of teams this season.
Propper dog shite. Wouldn't it be great if we could beat someone convincingly. How often do we win by more than one goal. Surely we can fluke our way to the Premier league lol
