From the club website:

Today's Sky Bet Championship fixture against Oxford United has been postponed.

The referee was called to Bramall Lane this morning with parts of the playing surface frozen and following an inspection he has taken the decision to call off the fixture due to concerns over player safety.

An announcement regarding a rearranged date will be confirmed in due course.

Officials at Sheffield United are extremely disappointed the fixture could not go ahead.

In the build up to the game, our pre-match procedures for forecasted low temperatures were followed, which included the use of our undersoil heating system.

This morning a small section of the playing surface was raised as a cause for concern. With this area still part frozen, all attempts were made to address this section of the pitch for it to meet the standard required for the match to go ahead.

The referee was then called in at the earliest possible opportunity to assess the playing surface. After he arranged an inspection, he deemed there to be a player safety concern, and opted to call off the fixture at 10am.

Surely when the undersoil heating was installed they would have ensure the extent of grass was covered not just where the amendable touchlines were at that point.
Anyone who agreed to widen pitch without extending undersoil heating if that did happen (and I really struggle to see anyone could be that stupid) needs putting up in front of press to explain - and recompense Oxford fans and ours who have travelled. Absolute farce. Much more likely to be a cock up.

No he went in via his secret door where he carried his stash out of.
But I do agree after all the moaning about fixtures it looks dodgy

We* had a few beers around Hunters Bar this afternoon. We walked past the Porter Brook and he was in there. He was part of a bigger group, so I'm guessing it wouldn't have been arranged at the last minute, therefore the postponement was obviously a put up job.

*Me and an old Wendy schoolmate. He is an easy going bloke and pretty reasonable even on footy, but he couldn't cope with Wilder.

Lovely! He's still living rent free in their heads.

I'm getting messages every day now about checking my season pass, why couldn't they have sent a message as soon as the game was called off, would have saved some/ many fans a wasted journey
True. I got an email at 9 this morning from the club regarding today’s match day activities. At 9 am the game must have been under threat.
I know the email was a marketing tool but couldn’t a message have been sent out to the same recipients stating that the game was off at10am saving unnecessary journeys.

My pass in my wallet is still for Leicester game. Weird that it hadn’t updated less than 2 hours to kick off. Almost like they knew…

Mine was the same - opened Leicester ticket/ clicked on 3 dots, clicked notifications, turned automatic updates off and waited for a minute then turned it back on again and it changed to oxford ticket

Me and my mate just got on the parkway when we found out, decided to just venture into Sheffield anyway for a mooch about.

Ended up bumping into a few Oxford fans and decided to nip to a pub for a chat, have some food and watch some of the other games. They were also stopping in Sheffield and bang out of pocket. Bought them a couple of rounds as a bit of an apology on behalf of the club. Ended up being out till 7pm with them, having to get a taxi home, an overnight parking bill and an arse of a journey this morning to get the car back with a belting hangover, was a very unexpected giggle though with some top lads, made the most of it!
