I don't blame Wilder for changing the front 2, the front 2 he played simply aren't good enough. Newcastle sit and so Moose's pace is nullified and McGoldrick won't drag defenders out. Plus, they will start at the weekend so if he was going to rest them this month, it was probably the best game.
Henderson - Should have made an effort. Abysmal decision to half-ass it.
Defence - Bash at fault for the first. I have no idea what the fuck the defence was doing for the second. Egan got out-jumped (as we were all night) and the other CBs were in fullback positions. Defence, to me, looked easy to slice through all night. They hardly attacked yet when they did only their own incompetence seemed to defeat them.
Midfield - We played like Arsenal use to play. Slow, tap it sideways, tap it back, tap it to the wing etc. It was way too unpredictable. Lack of imagination and lack of speed. Need to take a chance on a game like this. Midfielder not getting forward enough.
McBurnie - Looks like a tall boy in a man's game. No strength. Goes down like a sack of spud in a mild breeze. He has ability and will improve but his basics are nowhere near good enough for top flight football at the moment.
Sharp - He's probably playing towards the top-end of his ability but not good enough at this level.
Freeman - Looks rubbish Sorry, I know hardly playing will be a massive factor but he looks overawed and uncertain.
Wilder - Should have been brave earlier and taken a defender off at half time and pushed an extra midfielder on. We looked a bit clueless tonight, both team and manager. Playing against teams who park the bus is our Achilles heel. We need to sort that out in summer if we stay up.
Team - We looked like some of the confidence has gone. As soon as they scored we lost something and the second defeated us. Tiredness seems to be kicking in and that spark and determination is flickering more and more. W ecould use a couple of fresh faces in January.
