Sheffield, or Sheffield United

It doesn't bother me in the slightest when we are referred to as "Sheffield" it just reminds me of how far the other lot have fallen that when just Sheffield is used everyone thinks Sheffield United. A bit like say Nottingham most think Forest, same with Bristol most think City. 10 years or so you could have said the same for Manchester most would have thought Man Utd rather than Man City.

I don't know why something so small and pathetic bothers anybody whilst the real issues about Sheffield football, Sheffield as a city and how absolutely pathetically small time and shit it has become go completely unnoticed and unchallenged.

I'd be more in favour of dropping Sheffield from our name.

Just be called "United" instead.
Then we'll see what they call Man Utd when they play us.

Call us United in Sheffield people know who you mean, call us united anywhere else in the world and to the people your talking too wouldn't have a clue which one you where on about,
There are quite a few United knocking about across the leagues and even if we were the first you could still be talking about dozens of other teams.
Call us Sheffield and in this country at least you've narrowed it down to three ....

As someone who played against Sheffield FC a few times when I could actually play football I can't stand them. We're talking 2002-2004 but they were a jumped up set of pricks whose footballing ability was much lower than their players egos.

I appreciate that they founded football, however they had a reputation in the non-league that wasn't very favourable. We beat them a few times as well so it's not bitterness at being shitter than them :)
Which team did you play for?
