Not a wind up or designed to create arguments, but I would genuinely like to know who isn't yet convinced we will be promoted?
If I've calculated properly, 4 wins 1 draw and 3 defeats for us would mean Fleetwood need to win all 8 of their last games to beat us to auto promo.
Leaving aside the so-called footballing gods or unforeseen circumstances, does any one still think there's a possibility we won't go up and if so, why?
If I gave you 10 grand to put on us going up as one of the top or on us finishing in the play-off positions, which would you choose?

I'm not convinced at all, we always seem to mess up when no other team could possibly fail! I did however do a league prediction thing earlier and we still managed to go up 1 point infront of Fleetwood. I just see us failing whenever we get in positions like this (Prem relegation year,2012 etc) Until i see the letter "P" next to our name i won't believe it.

88 points will see us promoted

4th down already can only max 87

can anyone not see us winning 3 and drawing 1 of our next 8 ,,,, really

if fleetwood lose one and draw one we are up

The remainder of the season is going to be a right slog on here if these last few days are anything to go by.

Everyone of these type of threads will be repeated no matter what the result v Oldham.

This really is the time of the season where you just take each match as it comes.

I think the OP was probably looking for normal people and those able to punctuate.

We all know your relentlessly optimistic views. I'm not saying you are wrong, but ramming it down our throats every other post, does not make you 'more right'.

A Freudian analyst may even say the 'lady doth protest too much'. Maybe you are unsure yourself hence the tidal waves of upbeat rubbish?

Stick to the mantra that there's only 3 things certain in lide. 'Death, taxes, and United's latest fuck up is probably just round the corner'.

For a normal club the promotion parties and barbecue invites would have been posted to the attendees with no issue. With United, I wouldn't send the invites out or go nd buy the sausages and burgers til we've hammered Chesterfield, finished top of the table by 15 points, and the FA have confirmed that there are no pending point deduction penalties against any English Club, will I allow myself a small thought that 'this could actually be our season'. Me a pessimistic twat....never.

its not relentlaess optimism
its a fact 88 points sees us better 4th downwards best and if fleetwood drop 4 points in the last 8 we are up

optimism plays no part in it as does no commas

I started partying after we murdered Bolton
only dumb arses are holding their bum cheeks together

That's right, one game at a time.

Get it right and we go up but there are enough permutation's available for it to go wrong.

If we do get it right in a big way there is nothing anyone can do about it even if they pick up maximum points available.

Still counting chickens, end of the line is not in view yet.

There's been periods in the last few games where we have been second best. First half v Oxford, start and finish v Charlton for example.
This team just needs a good 20 - 30 minutes in a game to score 2 or 3 goals. We still concede too many but Im as confident as a Blade can be.
An injury to Moore is the only thing that would put a court in my mind. We will get at least 4 wins which will be enough.

I'm convinced of promotion that is a cert for me. The only thing I'm not so certain of is becoming Champions, I think we will but at the same time I'm not taking it for granted.

Imo ours and Bolton's run ins are equally as hard/easy as each others more or less. Their hardest 2 games are visits to Southend and Scunny while our hardest 2 are Millwall and Bradford, luckily for us these 2 are at Home. But the rest of both teams' run ins should be a piece of piss.

After winning their game in hand last night they're only 6 points behind us now, but I keep reminding myself that we have the much better side than them so therefore there's no need to worry as such and we should end up the ones becoming Champions, not them.

They've now won their last 4 games in a row and obviously they won't keep that up until the end of the season, so hopefully any chance of them having a late serious surge to become Champions has started a little too early.

As per usual with your posts, any 'facts' have to be checked.

Fleetwood are 10 points behind us and have 24 to play for. Dropping 4 would mean they could still get 20 points and potentially (but improbably) overhaul us.

So if they drop 4 points we are most certainly NOT UP, unless we win more games in the meantime.

Any more 'facts' you wish to share?

Fleetwood's last 8:

Bury away
Swindon home
Oxford away
Oldham away
Peterborough away
Millwall home
Gillingham away
Port Vale home

They all look winnable but of course they'll not win them all. If they win 2 out of 3 home matches and 2 out of 5 away, drawing the rest, they will have done really well but will finish with 84 points. We only need 2 wins, a draw and 5 defeats to beat that. In other words, even if we hit relegation form (which would be a hell of a surprise given the strength of the squad) we'll still go up.

If I gave you 10 grand to put on us going up as one of the top or on us finishing in the play-off positions, which would you choose?

If I were a gambling man, and some people might suspect I am, I'd say that I'd bet on us to get automatics all day long. I'd also say that every gambler I've ever met has a different story about that time a sure thing blew up on him for every day of the week.

Edit: I'd also say I'm a lot more comfortable betting your ten grand than my own, whatever the bet.

i said if we win 3 and draw 1 of the last 8 puts us on 88 points

if fleetwood drop 4 points then we cant be caught

can anyone seriously think we cant win 3 of our last 8
I can only see a team coach fire killing the entire squad making that possible with our remaining games
how can anyone see this current team lose 5 of what we have left

its unbelievable

and weve done it before is utterly meaningless with this squad
I can only imagine people who can see us blowing it have had their eyes closed watching us this season or ignore match facts

Ive seen every collapse since 67
and there is nothing , nothing at all that says this squad is capable of blowing this

different squad , different manager , different mentality

Exactly my thoughts D_B

Anybody who isn't yet convinced that we're going up is talking bollox.

I'm not bothered what our recent(ish) history is or suggests, i don't believe in fairies either.
