You should always go up with a sense of optimism but seriously mate, we were the better team Saturday and we're pretty average to be honest. We have our moments, our first goal being a prime example but the way we ran straight through you was scary. Premier League teams, even the poor ones have bags of pace and their fitness is on a different level and they'll do that for fun.
When we went up with the overlapping centre halves we were organised, had a new style and we were a rock solid group of tried and tested professionals playing a style they were very comfortable with. The next season was a different story, losing our centre half killed our game plan but the big one was last season. In just a couple of years our second division (Championship) tryers were miles off. Teams one touched it past us and they pretty much scored at will. That's going to happen to you. The last six promoted clubs had it happen and looking at Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland there's nothing to suggest that any of them will buck that trend. Not fast enough, not fit enough, not cute enough and look out for the officials and the VAR, you saw how they got the one big decision wrong Saturday.
Sorry for pissing on your parade but it's a horrible game now. Money first, armchair followers second, real fans and football are way down the list. I can't say good luck as I wouldn't mean it. I'm old, I'm old school and I'm bitter. Be interesting what you think two months in though.
