Biggest let down from yesterday for me… not singing Starman at full time during the trophy celebrations. Greek flags waving, players holding the GB2 shirt, not a dry eye amongst any blades with even half a heart.

That was the thing l most hoped for on Friday night, not the clubs income, keeping our best players or the premier league.

I was numb after the game, not instantly heartbroken like after previous attempts. But as the dust settles it’s that missed celebration for GB that hurts.

I had visions of the players all wearing Baldocks number 2 shirt to collect the trophy.

Should always know better than to daydream about the Blades.

It’s not a total lottery to predict promoted teams will struggle in the Premier League, you clearly have no idea of the gulf between the divisions. Your current team don’t have any players that will cause problems for those in the Premier League and you’ll be buying players that other teams in the division don’t deem good enough for them. You’ll be cannon fodder.

That's the nub of it. My Ipswich supporting brother-in-law said it took him about 2 months before he hated this season. He knew from our chats that they would be like the rogue cousin at the family wedding, not wanted but had to be invited and sat at a table in the back corner. Day 1 stuffed by Liverpool and first hand experience of the constant conscious/subconscious* bias of the officials and VAR in favour of the permanent 17 residents! [*delete depending on your own view]

I'm gutted that we lost but only as, like most, i just wanted to see us win a big game for once. No interest in being in the PL again but i do appreciate that that's unrealistic if we want to progress as a club. Despite the players we'll lose i feel more confident that another 12-months might allow the youngsters to develop more and fit together with incomings to form a team better able to compete if we were to go up in 12 months time.

I share the misgivings of most about CWAK and some of the strange mistakes and decisions this season and carry the scars from the stubbornness of his last 12-18 months of CW1. That said, on balance, i think the rebuild this year was done pretty well and i think we've more chance of being in contention again if he stays than if we have the upheaval another change would bring. I'd also ask those wanting change to consider whether our rivals would be happier if we kept CWAK or not. Personally i think they would see it as the 2nd best day of the season in S6 if they were to leave.

Finally, good luck to Sunderland, whilst i fear for them i would be delighted if they bloody some noses and can be competitive. Without exception i found their fans gracious and respectful after the game and appreciative of our pain.

I actually hope you do well next season, prove that a promoted team without the previous advantage of parachute payments can go up and give a good account of themselves like we did a few years ago. I hope Leeds and Burnley fester and die but you lot seem ok.

Not sure if your owners will throw wads of their own cash at it but if they do you might get lucky and ‘do a Forest’. If not it’ll be a slog, just make sure you don’t come down with the likes of Rodwell on eye watering contracts this time around.

Yeah I agree to a degree, most of our last period was a battle against the drop, however, we had some great times completing the great escape year after year, especially the six in a row period v the skunks. We were unfortunate in the event that people Ellis Short had hired, were absoulte bluffers, and no more money after that.

We have a young owner who's parents are well embodied in the football world, plus interested investors, so who knows what's next. Just got to go through the journey and see what happens. Of course it's going to be difficult, but it would be against my grain to give up the good fight before it's even started.

They are a very fit and obviously a well conditioned side so it seems the manager and his infrastructure is way ahead of ours

I think we've recruited smartly TBF, admittedly there's some that have not cut it, Speakmans (DOF) done a fine job IMO. I can't really see the strategy changing, obvs will have to spend more though, just got to wait and see what happens.

When we last got promoted our previous owner (the poorest prince in Saudi) shit himself and wanted out. The half hearted way he funded the team for a return to the Prem and the awful season that followed has had profound effect on many Blades fans to this day.

I didn't go to any of the Premier League games last season so this was my reminder of VAR as a fan in the ground. Almost 2 mins celebrating like an idiot believing this was the year for the old fella next to me saying it's gone to VAR for offside it was the biggest turn of emotion.

Fully appreciate thst we all knew before a ball was kicked that VAR was in play but VAR isn't for the fans in the ground it's for tv watchers it's FIFA on a football pitch. The biggest reason we go to watch football is to see a goal celebrate a goal. Can't do that with VAR you just look a complete idiot.

The most bizarre moment of the day was Sunlun fans singing The Red Flag coming out of Wembley Park Station then sticking Reform stickers all over the place? Make your minds up lads.

For the most part they were an ok bunch though, I don’t begrudge them going up.

Will they stay up? It’s hard to answer without sounding bitter isn’t it?

I think they’ll struggle as we would have.

The problem now is that the ‘smaller’ clubs that you expect to compete with are actually well run and cash rich. Brighton, Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth. Those teams make it a struggle to think of 3 teams a promoted side will finish above.

Having thought about it I’ve come to the obvious conclusion the PL didn’t want us going up. Ref gave goal, Lino didn’t flag, their players didn’t claim offside and went to take KO. They put ball on spot ready to KO and a shadowy figure pressed a button hotlines to the VAR team. Red light flashing a message went to ref. “You’ve made a mistake, go to the monitor and we’ll tell you what to say”.
