This is honestly the funniest transfer offer I've ever seen

I wonder how much Fabrizio was paid for it?
It's only slightly funnier than actually agreeing to sell Brooks to Norwich, but I'll give you it, it's an even worse deal. Won't happen of course. Will it?

Only a year left on his deal with an option in our favour similar to what Brooks had. Played far less games than Brooks too. Valuation around £7m would be on the high end I'd imagine, with it not being the most glamorous of positions.
Plus we have Doherty..

Brooks to Norwich was odd but the fee was reasonable and one we couldn't turn down

This is just pitiful. I reckon they've paid more for Romano to post that than they'd pay us

Why do we keep allowing key players to enter the last year of their contract? Offer them a new deal when they've got 2 years or 18 months left. If they turn it down sell them while you can still get a decent fee. Be ruthless. The club comes first.

Has this club learned nothing from Berge and Ndiaye? We appear to have no money for permanent signings so it's sales like these when you can still get decent fees that fund their replacements and allow you to improve at least one more position.

If Hamer and Seriki both walk for free next summer then we don't have a lot left to sell to raise funds for future "squad rebuilding." Peck. Burrows. Cooper. They're about the only players anyone else would be interested in.

This club really is an amateur shitshow when it comes to squad recruitment, retention and sales. They make the same mistakes over and over and never learn. The fact we're stuck with so many poor players on long contracts or players with histories of injuries who end up injured, none of whom we can sell as no one will want to pay a fee for them, is both pathetic and unforgivable. But here we are this summer chasing Kalvin Phillips again.

Oooooow, £850k in the transfer kitty, tempting 😒

Absolute joke of an offer. We shouldn't entertain any further offers from these clowns.

FWIW, his ceiling is so high, shit, his performances so far have been fantastic, on the whole, love seeing him attacking the oppo flank. His value has to be double figures.

Do you really think the club do not consider contract extensions until players enter their final year.. ?

I think we just seem to really struggle to get anyone to extend their contracts. It's always been our thing regardless of who owns us.

You'd assume they're just testing the waters with that bid.......Will they come back in with an improved offer and will we hold our nerve 🤔 he's 23 and only getting better.

The club can offer new contracts with 2 years left. However, it will almost certainly involve paying a higher wage than the current one. Also, for a longer period of time. What if the player loses form, gets injured or is ousted by a brilliant homegrown youngster. You'd be arguing that the club was handing out ludicrous contracts. Whatever the club does its a calculated gamble. Its not an exact science.

10m+ surely stand our ground there’s not many British right backs coming through and he’s got to be up there

I agree with that, but the same could be said of any player. Your best players aka Hamer and Seriki are naturally going to want improved terms when they know that they're the best players, but within reason. They're unlikely to get ousted by a homegrown player.

Starting negotiations in their final year is naive as you have until January 1st to get them to sign or they can sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs, or you accept that they're not going to sign and keep them until the end of the season in the desperate hope that you'll get promoted and they'll sign a new deal in the summer, or you sell them for a crap amount in January as clubs will take advantage of the contract situation.

I don't have much faith with our club as we seem to always end up worse off with sales, contracts expiring etc....

If Seriki keeps improving he’s the sort of player that could be going for 20/30million at some point.

Feels like the sort of Kyle Walker, Maguire sale where he’s only going to be come exponentially more valuable when he shows he can either continue his form or do it at a higher level.

Not the finished product but It’s a derisory offer to my mind given what he’s showed so far.

“Not the most glamorous of positions”.
What an insult to the fantastic right-backs we have had down the years.
Len Badger and Vas Borbokis, for example, two of the most exciting players in any position to have worn the red and white stripes.
