Ultimately it depends on what the owners believe is reasonable for a football club our size, brand reach of our size and representing a city of size. If you walk past kids up and down the country, you used to see either Barca or Real shirts with Messi or Ronaldo on the back. Man City, took over the Man United shirts for "park football". Even worse are the Argentina Messi shirt's that are on show. We aren't going to be a brand with a reach the size of one player never mind a club reach, we have very small expats pockets here and there. Sheffield as a city isn't fashionable, big business has gone to Leeds or Manchester of late and we are a commuter city fighting for the left overs. Without going off on too much of a tangent, what as a football club do we expect, Championship stability is the number 1 target for me, if that can't be achieved under the current manager then replacements need to be made. Although people bang on about promotion, what has it really done for us as a club, it saved us a few years a go under Hecky from probably having a fire sale so we didn't go bust however we do not have the money needed to establish us within the Premier League, so we are in this sticky situation of bouncing between the leagues, having to sell our best or potential best players when we are either going up or coming down. We have had international quality coming from our academy and that isn't just U21 or U18 levels, when you look at the defence of England, Maguire, Jags and Walker have been key to that over many years when they were all playing. We either need to work out a DoF that can come in and assist with turning the current crop into the 1st team and keeping there long enough so we can establish ourselves within the bottom half PL or we stick around mid-table to playoffs of the Championship and look at a longer term plan. It will mean that some of the top talent will be sold for profit however if we have a season where we are bringing through a combined U23's, current academy graduates and 1st teamers we could easily move forwards progressively. Is Selles our man, is a difficult question, I didn't know if Wilder was the 1st or 2nd time around and Hecky, I thought got chucked under a bus but did well to get that promotion like he did. If we are financially stable, can improve the facilities so we can enjoy freezing our whatever's off in January, if we are comfy in the Championship that will be ok with me.
