For me, just looking at Adkins with those long socks pulled up like a five year old boy, tells you all you need to know about his football pedigree, clueless

He has definately been tasked with a role within the club

Is it something to do with overseas relationship development? Raising profile and business opportunities?

Can't remember tbh, but thought it was something along those lines

It was also about investment.
Some people reckon China might be one of the major leagues in world football in the future with massive attendances and massive pay per view figures. Even in the few years since we bought Chengdu there's been a massive amount of money pumped into Chinese football and I don't known where it will all end.

So a gambling man might decide to buy a club from Chegdu on the cheap
Then in 10 or 20 years sell that club for millions making a massive profit.

It's a bit like someone buying Newton Heath (Man Utd) as a business venture 100 years ago.
They would have been laughed at because the notion of football and profit was light years away from today.

I think you are Kevin McCabe.

Don't care where they're from, balls to this warnockesque 'hey I tell they're a crackin bunch o' lads' attitude. Fuck whether they're a cracking bunch o lads, can they play football?! Sick of watching losers like this club has produced for the last 40 years.

When English players actually achieve something for this club then maybe I'll care about where they're from again, until then they're just a bunch of nobodies regardless of where they were born

Very few local players have genuinely shown some heartfelt loyalty for this club that wasn't in the interest of their career. Billy Sharp and Dane Whitehouse are at the top of that tree and then there's a few like Kyle Walker who've stayed supporting us after they've.

Plenty of brats from our academy who couldn't give two fucks about the club, just being from around Sheffield means fuck all

Yep, it was certainly a gamble with great potential. The problem was that McCabe probably underestimated the corruption in China at that time, with the potential to damage things globally. The authorities have clamped down a bit over there now but like everything in China, it's token gestures with scapegoats that aren't the flavour of the month with the authorities.

The biggest issue for me was that were too small as a club to take something like this on. Kev wanted to be involved in Scarborough, SUFC, Chengdu and Fradi, but he tried to install "trusted" people like Terry Robinson within these businesses and it was bound to fail. Fradi and Robinson, Chengdu and the corruption as well as SUFC relegation to League 1 all came about at around the same time. I think we'd also made some inroads in Damascus as well at the time

Now with the Prince onboard, we need championship football at least and I think we'll start to see us branching out again
