Season Ticket deadline extended

Any one reading this thread from the outside looking in would think that they're looking at the Sunderland forum, i.e. some big-time charlies who've self-combusted and are about to go into terminal decline. OK, historically we should be doing a lot better if you are 100 years old. For the remainder we are about where we usually are but on a bit of an upswing. That's the reality, what the fuck are some people expecting all of a sudden. We'll be chasing the elusive dragon again next season, don't worry, we'll get our fix along the way.

Is it true that Lee Evans had 33 appearances for Wolves at Championship level and has he been capped for Wales ?
Is it true that Ryan Leonard had only one Championship game as a youngster before we signed him ?
Is it true that Ricky Holmes played all his football at league two or lower before moving to league one Charlton ?

Nice, irrelevant swerve. Which League was Lee Evans playing in before we signed him? I'll give you a clue, it's same one that John Fleck was playing in before we signed him as well.

Many, including myself, renew on the last day online. Don’t need to spend the cash until then.

Now the deadline moves to include end of month pay for some this will also increase the numbers substantially imo.

I’d expect a v small drop in numbers at the final count. There will always be the “novelty “ st holders post promotion and some that pay a premium on the price by leaving it until the most expensive point post new season as they either “forget”, cannot be arsed or don’t have the cash until then.

I don’t think the number of drop offs will be that significant due to the boardroom situation. Only members of forums and a v small number of others focus on that when deciding whether to renew or otherwise imo.

This is spot on. I think 12k is a good number of renewals at the time it was announced. I renewed just before the extended deadline was announced and if I had known would have waited. It was a strange decision to set the original deadline of the 27th given so many people are paid at the end of the month. I think numbers will be similar to next season. Main drop off will be people who bought mini season tickets - given our league position around Christmas it probably inflated sales from previous years. Our support is one of the real strengths of SUFC do

Really enjoying the lovers tiff here.

Relevant facts are regardless of what we have or have not spent in the past we do need more investment in the coming summer or we won’t be improving our position next season. The squad is aging and at least three or four key positions need replacing.

I don’t know what anyone else’s prediction was about where we would finish this season but I predicted 11th on the start of season prediction thread and look where are. (Can someone bump that back up as I want to know what I win?)

If we don’t get the key positions replaced with players of equivalent or better quality I won’t be predicting that high a finish next season.

We are approaching the moment we have to decide what it is we want to be.. regular Promotion challenger (think Derby) mid table lurcher (think Ipswich) or yo yo between Championship and League one side (think Barnsley)

I agree we do need some investment this summer, my gripe is with those on here who are throwing their toys out of the pram before the summer has even arrived and before we've had chance to see what the owners have provided the manager with. It's almost like some take great enjoyment out of predicting doom and gloom before it's even come about.

We might not finish as high as 11th next year and that would quite possibly be the time to have a moan. Whilever we are finishing a season higher than the previous one we are making progress.

I reckon Jason has caused the sales to be lower too.

I mean, if i lived in Sheffield and was struggling to make ends meet, it'd be a no brainer.

I wonder how much the boardroom infighting is putting off people renewing as we don't have a clue if there will be any sort of investment in the team until that is sorted out one way or the other. Will we get investment or will it be back to selling the family silverware to make ends meet ?
yeah i'm sure the board are terrified that mr bloggs of frechville hasn't renewed yet. this board bollocks is irritating the shit out of me. None of you have any fucking idea/influence in what is going on..

I don’t like it when people start questioning others’ loyalty. There aren’t any rules. It’s not a dictatorship. They have their reasons, I understand them. I agree with them. I haven’t renewed yet either. Doesn’t make me less of a Blade or my argument invalid.

But surely you're questioning the owners loyalty?
As you say, there aren't any rules, they have their reasons.
Don't you think it works both ways?

We're in a higher position now than when he stepped into the breach after the McDonald/Blades Italia shambles. In his period of control we have had one season in the Prem and 6 in League 1 which obviously isn't great, but if he left today he could genuinely say he has left the club in a better position than when he took it over, both on and off the pitch.

Of course that won't suit all the agenda-ists on here who want to concentrate on 'would have / could have / should have'.
He oversaw our longest ever consecutive number of seasons outside the top 2 divisions. Add to this his track record of selling virtually every decent player we’ve had - often too cheaply - and it’s not great is it?

Didn't oversee us going from the verge of European qualification to the bottom division in 6yrs and eventually ending up with a 3 sided ground though did he?

Some of these "worst period in our history" merchants need to dig a little deeper unless their only measure is time outside the top two divisions.

And if that is their standard unit of measurement, what the hell are they complaining about now as we're back in the top two divisions?

Int copy & paste good ? It's brilliant!

All sorted this morning... Ruby will have to slum it by getting u3s free tickets with her junior Blades membership if she wants to come though, as cheapskate Daddy didn't buy her one.

This thread is such a load of bollocks.

We won so many games last year - especially in that final run in - that people got used to the idea of winning all the time. They all got excited and bought a season ticket, expecting this year to be the same. We overperformed until Christmas which made them believe even more that it was going to happen again. Then, when we performed about as well as we could expect in our first season up, reality was too much for them and they looked for somebody to blame.

10 games in next season and in the top 3 and they'll all be back - in the bottom half and we won't see them until we start winning most games again.

We all get disappointed when things seem to go backwards a bit and we over-react, that includes Tufty and he admits it. But come Monday we remember what a good place we are really in at the moment.

The Real Magic is About Belonging

Amazed we’ve got 12,000 with the way our commercial team treat customers. I drove down to renew my ticket but move stand as I was getting a couple of new season tickets as well and I was sent away to do it on-line. I’ll be honest I thought of just not bothering.

If what you describe is the full situation then the individual involved should be reported and fired.

If what is most likely the case is that the individual explained badly to you that there is an additional adult discount for booking online which cannot be given in the ticket office.

It was because I wanted to take advantage of the finance option. It was explained that this could only be done on-line (although I’d made it difficult by swapping stands apparently). I have no idea if this is the case but to be honest after driving down through rush hour traffic and as it was pretty quiet at the ticket office I would have expected to have been able to do it there and then. In my business someone walks through the door wanting to buy then I ensure it’s easy for them to do it there and then. Especially if 2/3 of it’s new business !!!

A few people I know have been holding off for pay day. I guess others are lazy and leave it to the last minute too.So will probably see a surge over the weekend.

That said I expect our crowds to be done on this season.

Sorry if it's been mentioned but another reason is that people are cheesed off with the number of home matches that have been switched to either a different day or a different time on the same day. I know people that got season tickets but have only managed to get to a dozen or so games because of this.

Some of them will more than likely get a membership and just buy tickets as and when they know they can definitely get to the Lane.

I think you’ll find it’s ‘would of / could of / should of’ on this forum, Isc. :D

I've spent half the money I would have spent on a season ticket if I was buying one as a preemptive-preemptive strike
