I’ve answered it in a sensible manner.

And he’s put in next to nothing compared to player sales.

So you don’t know how much he’s put in but you’re willing to call me a liar if I say he’s put in quite a lot already?

And you didn’t answer my question. You said that the direction of travel is only going one way. I assumed you meant downwards, as per your negative nature, and I asked how many seasons in a row have we now finished higher than the previous season.

Poor to bad form since December, poor signings in January, chucked point after point away.

Top 2 on December 1st

11th on 26 April.

What direction is that going?

Are you suggesting we should be grateful to Kev for overseeing the worst period in our entire history?

We were 3rd actually but I don’t see the relevance of that really as the season doesn’t begin or end on the 1st December. Incidentally by the time the transfer window opened we were 7th so the apparent lack of investment hasn’t had much effect on our league position.

Either way you’ve still not answered the question and however you want to look at it we will have finished this season higher than we finished the last one.

Out of interest. Where did you expect us to finish up this season?

I have answered the question.

And the manager has performed miracles to get us to mid table. But that is irrelevant to the discussion on investment as he has also showed signs and made comments about being royally pissed off with the owners.

I don’t think you’re reading it properly. How many seasons have we now finished higher than the previous season? All I’m after is a number. It’s very relevant to the discussion on investment as while we we’re making progress season on season (not just the dates you pick and choose) then it shows that whatever investment is being provided is having a positive effect. We’d all love it if we spent more but if the money isn’t there then it can’t be spent.

So your mates didn't bother going the five years before we were promoted ? What if the owners couldn't afford to 'have a go'. ?

No they’ve been season ticket holders for years. One of them has just bought a house up Wombwell so money is a bit tighter than it could be and he’s keen on golf. But if he doesn’t see investment that would show a real sign of “doing summat” then he’ll hold back.

I don’t like it when people start questioning others’ loyalty. There aren’t any rules. It’s not a dictatorship. They have their reasons, I understand them. I agree with them. I haven’t renewed yet either. Doesn’t make me less of a Blade or my argument invalid.
It could’ve been a lot worse if he’d not employed CW. :)

Really enjoying the lovers tiff here.

Relevant facts are regardless of what we have or have not spent in the past we do need more investment in the coming summer or we won’t be improving our position next season. The squad is aging and at least three or four key positions need replacing.

I don’t know what anyone else’s prediction was about where we would finish this season but I predicted 11th on the start of season prediction thread and look where are. (Can someone bump that back up as I want to know what I win?)

If we don’t get the key positions replaced with players of equivalent or better quality I won’t be predicting that high a finish next season.

We are approaching the moment we have to decide what it is we want to be.. regular Promotion challenger (think Derby) mid table lurcher (think Ipswich) or yo yo between Championship and League one side (think Barnsley)

It’s two.

None of which I give any credit to the owners for.

Solely down to the Manager performing miracles.

And as I have said already even he’s getting pissed off with the lack of support. Good luck to him if he goes elsewhere, you could not blame him.

Hopefully we're thinking, as we should be, that we want to be a Premier League team. That we want to be Wolves, Cardiff/Fulham, Huddersfield, Brighton etc, etc.
It's what any big city club should be thinking.

He's put £17m in cash as share capital. That's a fact. Plus a repayable loan of £3m last year. Another fact. Since he arrived in 2013. (Not including this season)

Let us all know how that figure is dwarfed by player sales in the same period if £20m is " next to nothing". Don't forget to include the sell on monies.

Making it up as you go along is a bit daft.

Sensible post that surely no one can argue with. It's blindingly obvious that Wilder won't get a decent budget as things stand. As you say, that's far more important that what's gone on in the past, but sensible discussions about our worries are never possible when wild claims are made by posters who can't back statements up. Basic research and a little Blades related knowledge is a far better platform for discussion rather than simply spouting bullshit from an anti board agenda.

Latest statement from the Prince re investment (October 27th 2017):

JS: Will money be available during the transfer window?

PA: I own the club 50/50 so it can’t be only my say. But I think as we stand right now we have a realistic chance of promotion and so I think we should. We want to have quality, though, not quantity. I would rather have two players who make a difference instead of four who are like what we have. I think the fans should know that not me or Kevin have put any pound into our pockets. We have put money into the club every year. This year we might break even but only because of the (Kyle) Walker and (Harry) Maguire (sell-on) deals. But we expect another deficit next season. We are break even only if we assume there is no activity in January and I think that is not a correct projection.

And did we get the 2 players of quality wanted by the Prince to make a difference , or did we get the 4 players who are no better than what we had ?

Let me remind you :

Evans , Leonard , Holmes , Wilson.

A few people I know have been holding off for pay day. I guess others are lazy and leave it to the last minute too.So will probably see a surge over the weekend.

That said I expect our crowds to be done on this season.

Exactly. If concern about boardroom bollocks was a reason for not buying a season ticket we wouldn't have sold any over the past 40 years. For me a South Stand ST for £252 is as good as it gets. Over a year this works out at a fiver a week and If anyone can tell me where I could get an alternative sporting fix for less than that then I'm all ears.

Some people will always find excuses. 'I'm not buying a ST as we didn't back CW in the JTW!' So the board do back him and we get into the PL...'I'm not fucking paying that for a season ticket in the PL!' :D

Want us to get even better yet aren’t willing to renew their season ticket after we will have just finished the highest in how many seasons?

I love this whole ‘small mindedness’ argument, like those who offer it are such big thinkers.

He hasn’t had a season ticket for about 10 years. I remember him slagging off United when we were in League 1 in about March and he hadn’t been that season. When a thread about McCabe comes up a Batman light shines in the sky and he’s sprints home to his laptop thumbing it :D:D:shark:

Where was he playing before we signed him?

I assume you must have expected promotion this season then?
Is it true that Lee Evans had 33 appearances for Wolves at Championship level and has he been capped for Wales ?
Is it true that Ryan Leonard had only one Championship game as a youngster before we signed him ?
Is it true that Ricky Holmes played all his football at league two or lower before moving to league one Charlton ?

I see the boardroom battle is going to last up to two years now. Best forget the season after next as well.

Many, including myself, renew on the last day online. Don’t need to spend the cash until then.

Now the deadline moves to include end of month pay for some this will also increase the numbers substantially imo.

I’d expect a v small drop in numbers at the final count. There will always be the “novelty “ st holders post promotion and some that pay a premium on the price by leaving it until the most expensive point post new season as they either “forget”, cannot be arsed or don’t have the cash until then.

I don’t think the number of drop offs will be that significant due to the boardroom situation. Only members of forums and a v small number of others focus on that when deciding whether to renew or otherwise imo.

Been a fantastic season, every game at BL this season has been close and exciting, I was nervous at the start of the season that we would be in a relegation battle, but we have played fast attacking football
Clearly we have been caught short on occasions with last minute goals and missing so many chances, but Wilder will know where we have fell short and will actively be trying to improve in the summer
I am so surprised what so many fans are moaning and groaning, especially after the last 6 years, averaging 27k this season has been brilliant

We're in a higher position now than when he stepped into the breach after the McDonald/Blades Italia shambles. In his period of control we have had one season in the Prem and 6 in League 1 which obviously isn't great, but if he left today he could genuinely say he has left the club in a better position than when he took it over, both on and off the pitch.

Of course that won't suit all the agenda-ists on here who want to concentrate on 'would have / could have / should have'.

So when it's going good the owners have had nothing to do with it, it's solely down to the manager, but when it's going badly it's all the owners' fault?
