Scotland Call-ups

Not Scotland but I'm surprised no one has really mentioned Stevens and Ireland, not sure who plays LB for Ireland but with the form he's in surely he's got to be in with a shout.

Defenders: Cyrus Christie (Middlesbrough), Matt Doherty (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Paul McShane (Reading), Richard Keogh (Derby County), Shane Duffy (Brighton & Hove Albion), Ciaran Clark (Newcastle United), John O'Shea (Sunderland), Kevin Long, Stephen Ward (Burnley)

To be honest, it's an experienced and decent enough selection. Although I think McShane is awful.

Never mind Coutts or Fleck, what about Brighton's Murphy? I thought the move to the coast was intended to get him selected by Scotland?

How times and circumstance change. Is Murphy even on Brighton's bench these days?

I mentioned it but since I suggested Stevens was much better than Christie the forum went into melt down about how they played on opposite sides of the park rather than discussing the real point. Surprised you missed it, it made the assassination of JFK seem like a picnic.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but Couttsy gets a mention when Kris Boyd is discussing the laughable Scotland squad.

He didn't mention Flecky though so he obviously knows nowt.

Loved the video! Thaks for this! I really like the Scots to be honest, and I hope that they do better internationally. I liked how both Michael Stewart and Kris Boyd get so animated and suddenly really high pitched in their voices! And the Kris Boyd comment regarding Shinnie and how good would he be for Scotland, and Boyd replies with he won't play for Scotland with "and we're no gonna!"

As for Coutts, Fleck and Stevens for that matter re Ireland, it seems that in all three cases there are experienced players ahead of them, but not necessarily better player. I mean, does Scotland have a better passer in the centre of the park than Coutts?! In fact does England! We're so blessed to have him!

Coutts only works in the right system with the right people around him. He needs time on the ball with somebody nearby as an outlet when he is pressed quickly. He needs people chasing back to cover his lack of pace. Given that, as a quarterback in space, he is superb.

Pick Coutts and Fleck (or a Fleck equivalent) and you’re onto a winner. Put him in a team with a Lundstram-type beside him with strong pressing opponents and you get his QPR performance.

You have to pick a team, not your 11 best players. Fortunately for us, that’s precisely why we are so great at present.

He’s not got a prayer getting over Ward the way Burnley are doing this year but as a second choice its a possibility for the World Cup.

It seems they only have 3 full backs but Doherty can cover both positions
