Totally agree millhouse. I'm struggling to remember A big money signing for us that was actually any good.
Any suggestions?

Thought the boys were great yesterday. All of em 8 plus out of 10 for me, with one exception, and he sadly is going through a real confidence dip.Lowe had poor one,I’m afraid, and Osborn was much better in that position when he came on.
You can’t fault the lads for effort, yesterday.Thought it was a real team performance with all of em, throwing their bodies in front of everything.Great to see, and hopefully it has calmed down some of the naysayers.

I was on John street and marked every player exactly as pommpey did, we were both a bit kind to Bogle and especially Lowe though.
Well factually he’s our 4th best player this season 👍

And Norwood is top because he takes every set piece

FOTMOB don’t lie there official sponsor at the lane you know

absolute rubbish as usual from you fallowfield norwood and fleck are not meant to be higher up behind our front 2 berge is and hes just not doing enough for me both doyle and mcatee get in the team before him at present if fit

We have been playing a flat 3 for ages

Whereas before the World Cup we would play berge / ndiaye behind a striker which is when we have looked far better and berge looked better

If you are unhappy that berge hasn’t been getting forward then tell that to hecky as he has been playing him in a flat 3 recently

Which has correlated with us not looking as good in recent weeks/months

Do you even watch the match ? But I’m the one talking 💩💩 apparently

I like to watch the game instead of shouting at players because they cost a certain ammount of money 🤷‍♂️

I think that you're being a bit unfair on Berge dude! He wasn't as bad as you think.
If anyone needs criticism it's Norwood!

Seriously, a big win and a much better performance yesterday, with Fleck adding the bite in midfield that's been missing for too long.
Shame Anel will be missing for a couple of games, but the rest should do him good and Clarke should be ready to fit in now.
Onwards and upwards eh 🤔
I was with you until you said Norwood deserves criticism.

I thought it was a good team performance against a decent team and although Lowe struggled a bit in the final analysis we won as a team.

I just don't get the need for anyone (except the manager in private) to single individuals out criticism when we win.

I was actually being sarcastic, because most people seem to have to point a finger at one of the players!
With me it's usually McBurnie 🤣

Love the report as always.

Going off topic here. Is it just me but when I think of Pommpey I always imagine that he's got a dungeon room in his house with a full size bondage wheel on the wall?!

ermmm. yes i was at the match and pretty sure im more knowledgable about the game than you are if your many stupid posts of the past are anything to go on ive stuck up for berge for 2 years on this site but no more he needs dropping to wake him up and start performing to the standard hes undoubtably capable of

Disagree entirely. He is not a class above at all. I think he is a below mediocre player made so because he is in the wrong team in the wrong league in the wrong country. He's a 'continental player' and should be back in Belgium where the standard allows him time on the ball and to get away with being literally carried through the match. He won't get away with that here - and especially in a team now needing standout performances to achieve the promotion it desperately needs for it's survival and its fans.

I know football. I've been kicking a ball about on my lawn up at Gleadless Valley since I was three, played schools, Sunday Leagues, Royal Navy football and have part of a coaching badge at a lower level than Fallowfield's UEFA A but still watch the game and have decent handle on the tactics and strategies down there on the green stuff. I also know a strap-hanger when I see one (I've played with players like Berge too who somehow end up picked and you end up carrying, 0-3 down and praying for the fucking coach to sub the lazy arsed cunt so we can get summat back from the game and get out of our half) and Berge is a strap-hanger. There's two things which tint people's spectacles about Berge:

1. He seems a nice kid
2. He wears a red-and-white shirt

There's fuck all else. He has, since his return from yet another injury, surfed firstly on a wave of 'he's just returned from injury' and then when he still fails to fire up the game its a wishy-washy array of statements like 'he's a class player'. He's shown precious little class save for running past players a few times and the odd goal. He's been here three years now including the Premier League (where he got broken) and has spent 40% of that time out of the game and a great deal of the remainder playing, but out of the game. He's simply Emperor's New Clothes in a Blades shirt. Misplaced and inappropriate for what we need and in any case, a poor signing because we didn't have a Sander Berge hole in our team at the time. And when you look at the real facts, how have we improved with him in the team? If he was anything of the like of a £22m midfielder, he'd be bossing the middle of that park and using his size and strength, Matic-style to dominate the game and win the midfield. That's what I expect of him and yesterday Norwood and Fleck, two of my previous targets, did so much more to make their mark on the game, as did Doyle when he came on.

Sander Berge shouldn't pick himself, nor stay on the park when he's having a stinker. But he does. Hence 'ten men'

pommpey
A below mediocre player that improves the team and does make us a better side an the stats back that up. Were better with him in the team than without, there's a reason Newcastle & Fulham were willing to part with 20m for him nobody else in the squad just Berge an that reason is because he's a level above. He is so far from mediocre!

He is statistically one of our best players and he does more in getting forward than any other midfielder

It’s just the forum needs a scapegoat it appears that may be berge and me at the moment

i think most of us have stuck by Berge , myself included thinking/ wishing / hoping he'd come good .
he's a luxury we can't afford , and i don't mean his price tag , i think when we bought him we all saw it as a sign of our intent , like Brewster
to not only survive but compete like a brighton / palace , which i said during our first season in the prem
he doesnt offer owt , ( queue mom performance v spurs ) he doesnt head / tackle /or bust a gut getting back into defence .
i would have sold him in the last window, if he wanted to go that is or is he another Lunscunt running down his contract therefore
maximising his future earnings ?
Like i said id have sold him rather than Ill'y ,got Archer & Obrien in,one perm one loan , then really pushed on,
as far as i was concerned we were always going up ,and we still are , even after boro ,
Even if he turns up for the 6 more wins we need we need to start building for life after Sander

never scapegoat any player who wears our colours, doesnt give em a free reign to play shite ,
we could all see it with Lunscunt , put in the effort and try , thats all we ask ,we dont do show boaters
down at Lane
and i dont do scapegoats , Lunscunt - Curran -KIng only 3 exceptions

The leaway Sander has been given is above and beyond the norm, the price tag is whats done that- 9 out of 10 Blades have wanted him to come good. If he had cost 500K from Rochdale I think his permanent fixture in the team would have been halted.

The other thing that works in his favour is size- a midfield of Doyle, Norwood, McAtee would be too small too lightweight so even though for a big lad he is incredibly powder puff Sander again gets the nod.

Yes he's got moments of class, yes every now and again he uses his strength/ size to out muscle - which everybody loves- but no way is he anyway effective enough for a full match. He has to be embarrassed when the matches are reviewed by his performances. He needs a massive look in the mirror at himself- FFS Sander buck your ideas up, to start off try and double your output in a match- learn to jump and head properly and above all put yourself about, earn your money- die for the shirt.

If it was upto you we would have a team of nick Montgomerys jack Robinsons and Richard cresswells

No incorrect- my favourite player ever was Tony Currie, all the skill- but with a dogged determination - a player that grabbed games by the scruff of the neck - rolled his sleeves up and drove the team on- but also could drift past players and include a few kisses to the kop.

I love players like Sander - but he has to realise his output is not enough.

Berge is just being judged on his transfer fee, which in football today £20m isn’t very much at all.

He has good games and bad games like the rest of the team this season. He’s just held to a higher standard due to his fee and his performances aren’t as bad as some are making them out to be.

Seriously, if you honestly looked at his commitment and performances since his arrival at the club, would you say he has been value for money,
Or do you think he's just been unlucky these last three seasons ....?

Ramsdale IF the strike rumours be true.

£20m is a lot more than Sheffield United are normalised on and certainly expensive for this division. Given he's playing against second tier opposition, he should be ripping this division's midfield a new, fresh arsehole.

Please, everyone. Admit you were wrong and he won't embarrass you any further

Correct , he contributed more than Norwood yesterday but Norwood gets a 7?

It was same with McB last season when some would see no good he did!

Find myself agreeing with fallowfield in that some of you would prefer a Montgomery type

£20m doesn’t get you top class players that are near enough guaranteed to be a success. It might be a lot of money to United but it’s nothing to Premier League clubs and every club signs players for that much and more every transfer window.

It’s clear your expectations are too high for Berge based on his transfer fee and you’re evaluating his performances with the fee in mind.

Personally, I feel he’s been a good player this season and made a positive contributed to the success the team has had so far this season.

He’s played 24 out of 33 matches for a team 2nd in the table. He can’t be that bad! The other 10 players aren’t that good!

Our record with him in the team is better than without him in the team:
With W61%, D22%, L17%
Without W50%, D20%, L30%
...though you could obviously find a thousand other reasons for those stats - correlation doesn't equal causation and all that. This isn't a claim to anything, simply a stat.

A 7/10 for Osborn from you must be a first!! he (and Doyle) changed the tempo of the match for me with his energy and running,
don't know why people knock him so much, he might not be the most talented player but his energy spreads through the team.

Berge! I thought he had a descent game, when he had the ball he was total class, driving forward and going past players effortlessly, he deserved a 7/10. Agree he needs to do it more often though, If (when) he goes in the summer, for 25 mill' somebody will have a bargain.
I missed the final minute and melee in our goalmouth as our internet had a coughing fit, still haven't managed to watch it back yet, not sure I want to !!

Other than that a good and entertaining report Pommp's, 7/10

Its not just 20 million its 40k a week too, do you think hes value for that ? I think he takes the piss. How a 6'4 bloke can hide for so much of a game is unreal.

Where I struggle with SB is that whilst I and many others see deficiencies, the management team keep playing him. This is the team that has us close to promotion to the EPL, so maybe they know a bit more about putting a out the best team than we do.
If we had a talented RWB who can do what SB does and more, then maybe he would be left out, but we don’t.
