I'm not comparing their abilities but they both seemingly want the easy life. Stride around. Run quickly forward and slowly back. In fairness to Lunny, he was at least more likely to put in a tackle or challenge for a header.

😆
You could tie both Sanders legs together and he'd still be better than Lunny.
I watched the Celtic v Ranger's game yesterday and Lunny's still the king of passing sideways and backwards.
Oh and Scottish Football has actually got worse, both Ranger's and Celtic would struggle to be top half Championship.

Berge will play well if the rest of the team plays well but he plays badly or goes missing when we struggle. It is then that a player's winning metality comes out. Perhaps it is too much to ask for him to get 'angry, and take control of the game in midfield and pull others of maybe lesser ability along to play well. Of course, once in his stride he is difficult to shake off but he is not so good with the 50-50 midfield tackles. I honestly can't see anyone paying the fee that would trigger his release clause.
It is not only us who are confused about him. NW said early on in last night's match how good a player Berge was (one of the best in the championship I think he said) and he was impressive for 20 minutes but then seemed to disappear under the QPR pressing and he was hardly mentioned again for the next hour. It was only when we changed shape later on that he again made his presence felt down the right hand side. I think more worrying is our lack of front players. We don't really look like we coud thrash any team. What I have noticed how often opposing teams are geting early crosses into our box. First opportunity they just swing it in whilst we tend to overplay beacuse we have no real physical presence in the air. Jebbison at least looked good last night. His other short appearances have been blighted by virtually being sent on as a lone striker whilst we hoof the ball upfield with Jebbison then chasing shadows with zero chance of him getting any real midfield support even if he wins the ball.
Wonder if Madine fancies another few months at the Lane.

He's one footed
His footwork is poor
He's cumbersome and wooden
He's good at getting tackled
He's poor in tight spaces
He's soft
He's fragile and injury prone
Those injuries have set him back
He can't or won't defend
Not suited to the English game
Wants a move but can't get one due to all of the above
And Hecky flogs him for 90 minutes every game regardless
I honestly believe Hecky is playing Berge to get a transfer over the line. (On the princes advice) Showcase his skills, which atm are bang average

I think it's a mixture of a few of those.

When playing in an attacking role, he's probably the best I've seen at this level at beating a man and bursting in to the box, getting to the byline and putting the ball across. It's a bit of a one trick pony situation for me, but I accept that it's a very effective trick and one that has earned us a fair few points. This Berge is a joy to watch. (i.e. "he's doing well").

There isn't a lot else to his game really though, and when played in a deeper midfield role, he is anonymous pretty much ALL of the time, and has been since we signed him 3 years ago ("not good enough" or "out of position" - probably both in that context).

Whichever position he plays, it's undeniable that he is pathetic at pressing the opponent, which is a requirement of just about every half decent team these days. He also gets tackled way too easily and his heading is embarrassing ("doesn't possess the mentality or desire").

He can not play centre midfield. When he does he just isn’t in the game. He’s at his best when he’s in the final 3rd, needs to play behind the striker.

He always strikes me as his best position would be in the Teddy Sheringham role.

I mean Teddy Sheringham the old style no.10, the creator who supports a striker(s), rather than the Millwall era Teddy Sheringham who was a striker himself.

if we had a physical striker who could play the lone role up top nidaye and berge would be perfect as the 2 either side in a 3-4-2-1 formation mcburnie might be able to play there but its not his ideal position and that position further up the pitch is where we would see the best of sander
