Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

Yes but in the case of a release clause that would be a lump sum because it isn’t a negotiated deal the 35 million would have to be stump up to trigger the clause. Even in the case of a negotiated deal it’s likely to be 50% plus of the fee paid upfront which would be more than a nominal loan fee.
Yip, you cant put in a minimum fee release clause but not put in how much needs to be paid up front. Otherwise any bugger could come in and offer $35 mill with the first installment being paid in 10 years time.

Would it? Depends on the cashflow situation at the Lane. £5m covers his amortisation for the season (£22m over 4.5 years) and if Napoli pick up his wages that means he'd cost us nothing next season.

The deal, for me, would hinge on the optional permanent fee and whether he'd come back if we got promoted. The risk is that we don't get promoted, Napoli don't take up their option and we're left with Berge next season...although we'd still probably get £20m for him at that point which would help the cashflow in 2022/23.
All that assumes:

1. He will start to play well.
2. He won’t get injured again.

I would rather cash in now if someone is dumb enough to Chuck an 8 figure sum at him (which I am beginning to doubt).

this poster repeatedly airs negative views of Sander, think we've all seen them by now. Don't agree with him though
I think there is a massive disconnect between what Berge actually does and what people who rate him say he does.

There are other players throughout my Blades supporting years who I have a different view of than the majority. But nothing like this. He is the most overrated player, based on what he’s actually done, that I have ever seen play for us.

To this end, I would snatch the hand off anyone who offered 20 million plus for him.

If he stays, and we actually get what people claim he can do out of him on a regular basis, great. But we ain’t seen it yet.

Berge has shown glimpses of real quality in what for much of the last 12 months has been a piss poor team. I have no doubt that with better players around him he could be a top player. It’s no surprise to me that he is thought of highly by other clubs.

We should be looking to make at least £10m profit if we do sell him.

Arsenal edge closer to Lokonga deal as Berge chase goes quieter by the day

It could be good news for Sheffield United as Arsenal are apparently ‘one step away’ from completing a deal for Anderlecht midfielder, Albert Lokonga.
The Belgian youngster is said to be closing in on a move to Arsenal, with Football Insider claiming terms have been agreed on a contract.

So you’ve seen 23 games of his 213 total senior games?

He may end up being a flop but there is a reason most of the big teams in Europe were after him (some still are) and why he is a starting player for his national team and previously played in champions league.

But that just goes to the same point. He’s done nothing for us in those games (32 not 23, BTW) to justify his reputation.

And no, I havent seen a single minute of his earlier career, but given that is playing at a lower standard than he’s experienced the last 2 years I don’t see I’m missing much in terms of judging his impact at the Lane.

You are right that it's around 30 games, and he's influenced maybe 2 or 3 of those. He's looked like potentially a good player for us in that time.

Perhaps though, the daft money being talked about is the going rate for a 22/23 year old with 30 premiership games, where he hasn't looked totally shit. World's gone mad if you ask me

Quite a few articles on the Napoli website - here's one of them courtesy Goole Translate

"According to what reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the d.s. of Napoli Cristiano Giuntoli is heavily focused on Berge, 23, Norwegian national team. His technical qualities have impressed the Neapolitan managers, but the English club is asking for 10 to 12 million euros to sell him. A figure that Giuntoli does not even consider, on the contrary, he would like it with a different formula, precisely because the midfielder has just recovered from the injury. The negotiations with Sheffield will continue."

Not sure about that figure!

I’d say the figure is definitely considerably wide of the mark. First, united would have to be absolutely mental to sell for half of what we paid for him. Second, at that price any of the reported premier league clubs would have snapped him up even if they didn’t like him as a player long term. At 10-12 million euros that’s a great business move buy him play him in the prem a bit sell him for a large profit.

As well as Arsenal, tell the tighties to fuck off too.

If he's a player we can afford and we don't get any suitable offers I feel we should try and keep him. Look at the price Buendia has gone for from Norwich after another season in the Champ. In hindsight, let's say he finishes the league player of the season and scores a few goals then his price would dramatically rise.

The championship is well thought of now, its not a league that teams think they can buy cheap. We should know! look at how much McBurnie and the rest of them cost us

Crappy article on MSN news stating sander is on 38k pw hahaha. My arse. Where do they get this shit from.

That's probably about right for his basic. We know McBurnie was on that last season.
Think he’ll have come in as top earner in the prem but if that’s his take home post relegation related wage cut then I’d say it’s pretty plausible.

Id say there is every chance Sander doesn’t have a relegation clause?

Potentially but it would be odd to negotiate a relegation release clause thus protecting the player against being forced to play in the division below and not simultaneously add a relegation wage cut as the idea of relegation was clearly on the table during his contract negotiations.

Must be down payment and a bit of lost in translation.

This is the same club that wanted 90m at one point for Koulibaly, right?

If that's his take home he's on £70k+ gross. I can't see it. I can see him being on £50k pre tax last season, that with a 25% cut would take him to £38k next season

Stephen Bettis was pretty unequivocal in the interview with Kate Burlaga that all our players have relegation wage clauses.
