Never been impressed although I’ve always wanted to be. Just not sure he’s going to get anywhere near the first team. Needs a loan or to be sold. Better players have been released or moved on by us.

Sorry, you’re setting standards of “good” pretty low here.
His use of the ball was poor and not at the level expected for this team.
He’s a L2 player.
You must’ve been watching a different game. Couldn’t disagree more. For a lad who was in my opinion way down the pecking order he was our best player over the 90 mins. Put himself on the map today.

I thought he was very ordinary - bit like Boyes last round. Takes too many touches to do basic things and defensively switched off a few times - the goal he has to get across (granted others at fault before it). Not our worst player but nothing that made me think he is anywhere close to this level.

Rose tinted glasses.
Absolute nonsense.
Players at this level do not just head it out, pass it out, etc etc.
dont get me wrong, he wasn’t the worst by a long way, but what he did successfully was basic.
He’s nowhere near the first team, and may as well be moved on, he’s not making it here.
Sorry

I'm the antithesis of rose tinted glasses. I just don't agree with what you've said.

Some of his progressive running and link up play was much better than I expected. If you don't agree then I think it's unlikely this exchange is going to change that opinion. Only thing that would make me change my opinion is his stats. I don't think they would be available for such a low-level game though. I saw a lot of positives with him.

All entitled to our takes, but I thought he really stood out on a number of occasions.
A lot of energy and some decent showings with the ball.

Can see why he's been capped by England U17s, U18s & U19s (he's 19).

Given he's only played about half a dozen men's games, I'd say it's a bit daft of some to be writing him off.

Seriki and Gilchrist are in front of him at the moment, Curtis is most likely in front of him as well, should be heading out on loan and get regular playing time.

You could put all the youth we've had in and around the team this season into 3 categories based on their development.

1st team: Arblaster, Brooks - both in the first team every game and have made the step up.

Bench: Seriki, Peck - usually on the bench as cover who will get minutes this season.

Needs a loan: Sachdev, Onè, Marsh, Hampson, Boyes - says it all really, they need to be out on loan and playing regularly as they aren't ready to feature in the match day squad regularly.

I'm not writing him off but he struggled to get in the Oldham side last year so probably a way off yet but he is 20 this season so not a kid in that sense anymore. Needs to have a successful loan. Ditto for Marsh, Hampson. The u21 football is not really helping them anymore in my opinion as standard at level they play is so poor and often v second rate academies.

Agree they all need loans (even Peck).
But we need the Board to sanction some signings to allow that to happen.

And the sooner we get to CAT1, the better.

Decent game from him, I said similar about some other players after the Wrexham game, but worth reiterating again here.

Games like Wrexham and tonight come with lots of changes with some players pushing for a start or to be kept on rather than being loaned out. Others getting minutes to bring fitness up. Others just filling a shirt and not looking interested. Others will prove they are not good enough for the level.

Tonight was an example of playing too many youngsters and we looked lightweight. So it’s hard to judge players individually.

Got to judge players generally rather than individual brilliance or mistakes, did he do his job well? And for Sachdev, I thought he did well, got forward, defended and seemed to get the philosophy of the side.

He had Rak-Sakyi in front of him who had his own part to play, getting minutes and getting his range finder tuned. To the right, inside of him an uninterested Anel.

Sachdev would do well on a local loan in league 1.

He was absolutely unplayable tonight. I was in awe at how shit he was. I hate being bipolar it’s quality.

Sachdev was outstanding tonight.
Bombed forward, put some great deliveries in (off both feet) and looked athletic / physically robust.

One of the few bright sparks.

Needs a loan, but that was very encouraging.

Weird set of comments.
You watched a different game Captain

For their goal. McCallum gets caught the wrong side then RND is knackered so allows his man to go blind side and can’t keep up with him for the cross. Anel then ball watches and doesn’t cut out the cross (which the Barnsley defence managed all bar one time when lead boots hit the post).
Sachdev was the least responsible for that goal.
Thought he did have some decent link play with JSR and agree his control could have been better.
He was a better performer than most on the night.

Peck did fuck all at Oldham, it's not always the be all and end all

Seriki was also slammed by Rotherham fans last season as being crap - looked our best right back so far this season imo.

The player I really want to see go on loan is Marsh. He’s no longer challenged by u21 football, and he’s clearly talented. But on the limited evidence of his senior appearances, he needs to become accustomed to the speed and physicality of it and learn how to get more involved.

He could become a player like Duffy, or he could end up in non league. Let him go and figure it out for a while.

He was fine, probably the best of the young lads until Peck showed up with 30 mins to go. Steady if unspectacular, another loan would do him good.
