I think all these fans who wanted Wilder out need to be careful what they wish for.
Any coincidence that Selles former clubs, Southampton, Reading and Hull are also former Adkins clubs.
This could also spark a firesale of our best players.

Not sure logic is your string point

Chieeffff

Sounds like we're sacking Wilder to appoint Rubén Sellés. Whats your verdict on that?

Bonus question:
In your time watching United which managerial appointment got the worst reaction from you on the day it was announced?
If your answer is "Danny Wilson because he's a pig", then try and provide a 2nd answer too.
Adrian Heath hands down

Jimmy Sirrell - oh dear
Billy Mac - oh dear

Thought we’d got back on the right pathway with Harry H , but - oh dear

Danny was unlucky , Hecky was immense , Robson was - oh dear
Don’t dis the squirrel. He’s got to be a better looking manager than Cooper…

Used to tune in to radio Hallam on way to work to listen to post match interview. Never understood a feckin word he said

You've got an old motor , in its day it was the bollox , proper growl in the engine and had great times and great memories in it. Trouble is much as you love it , it's starting to be not so reliable , it's temperamental, parts cost a fortune and reluctant as you are you look at new motors .
They've got loads gizmos , info screens and even talks to you , gives you directions and trouble free .
So you swap.
Things about the old car you miss and you remember it fondly , after all it was a great motor in its day .
But now your moving on ..
Happy motoring .

It’s a shame it didn’t work out for him with us, but he inherited a shit show largely caused by the building of the South Stand. Alex Ferguson once stated that Jimmy was a big influence on him as a manager.

I’ve always remembered the story of when he was the Notts County manager and his wife died on a Friday night. He turned up at Meadow Lane the next day and managed the game, which I believe County won. He only let people know of his wife’s death after the match. What a man.

Maybe an idea to judge based on results?
Fair enough. Based on results so far he has a 33% win ratio. Different players, but there you go.
Don't get me wrong, I'll support him 100%, but his stats aren't so impressive.

It is not quite a straight forward answer.
Obviously we won't know right now. Selles could go on and win promotion and keep us in the PL and what not.
At which point we would have to say a big yes.

For me. I think this is one heck of a gamble. Unless our owners have deep pockets beyond the 2nd year parachute payments. (Are we even allowed to do that!?)

For me I think you try and go up and work from there.

But it feels like this decision has been made because they want to dictate signings more with this new AI function. CW be on board partly but can't be fully. And he's likely to let slip if he gets frustrated with transfers too.

They shouldn't solely rely on it though. It doesn't take AI to work out that Salah is still a fantasy player does it?

I'm hopeful it will work really well. We need to push our scouting forwards of course. But my concern is this will fall flat on its face. With mediocre AI signings for the most part.
But money spent.

We simply won't know for a good while yet.

Selles I feel has won this role purely based on his acceptance of data driven targets. Maybe it will work!? 🤷‍♂️

They need to be looked at in context of the clubs he was at and the situations they were in when he went there. Then, the picture starts to change. The stat you quoted is meaningless.

Genuinely excited about Sellés. He seems to tick the boxes the new owners want to take the club forwards.

Read a fair bit and listened to his interviews before just dismissing him cause he’s not Wilder. He likes high press high intensity football and big game moments. If it goes to plan will those who are dissatisfied revel in the clubs success? Promotion? Stable in PL?

Yes they will, decenters will lap it up. Got to accept wilders not the one the owners want to take them forward and get behind our new head coach (if it’s ever confirmed).

Wilder will always be a legend but will only be remembered next season if it’s going t!ts up and the old “if Wilder had been here blah blah l. If we are auto position playing high press attacking football Wilder will just be a memory.

Bryan Fucking Robson

I have to say I'm mystified. Selles has had 3 seasons managing and his teams have finished bottom of the PL, 17th in League One and 21st in the championship.

Bassett, Wilder, Robson, Adkins, Jovanovic, Wilson and Warnock all had promotions on their CVs, whilst Selles has achieved literally nothing.

And it isn't even a case of experienced player given first managerial opportunity- like Peters, Bruce, Spackman, Speed and Weir.

I can't think of any other occasion where United have appointed someone with managerial experience and a complete lack of success.
Selles has achieved a string of movies for example the Pink Panther, I'll get my coat (if only I could remember where I put it)?

For those old enough to remember Martin Peters appointment as player manager was a disaster. Unproven manager and the neshest player you e ever seen on it. The list of crap managers we’ve had is long and tortuous but he truly was and still is top of the shit pile.

Don’t get exited about Selles he only come as a yes man talking to Wilders best mate this afternoon Wilder wouldn’t wear the new regimes terms re picking the team , recruitment AI what a load of bollocks let’s see how it pans out yea

That's probably why they got rid of him. Doesn't want to change and unfortunately we need to make the harsh decisions to take the club further.

Yeah - love Chris & a lot of what he has done for our club since 2016. However, the comments from some his mates & entourage in public have been cringeworthy at times. I certainly won’t miss that. And I suspect our new owners have not appreciated that over the last few months. Has’nt done Chris any favours either.

Picking the team? I hope they don't want their £10 million man starting more than Wilder was willing to accommodate.

All the Bradway old boys think he’s got a life membership at the lane

I feel sorry for Chris, I really do, and can understand why some are angry. But some also need to stop sucking on a lemon, get behind the new guy and trust the owners know what they are doing, until it's clear that they don't.

It was really disappointing to hear some of the callers on FH earlier. One guy in particular (Rob) who insisted the new owners were a disgrace for leaking the news about Wilder early, until someone pointed out that the news of WIlder replacing Hecky was telegraphed weeks in advance. He clearly hadn't considered that Wilder's crew may be the ones doing the leaking. He then went on to say that next season will be 'toxic' at the Lane. I suspect it was more of a promise on his part, rather than a prediction.

Honestly, there are times when I think we should replace the current club badge, with a drawing of some dopey cunt in dungarees, strumming a banjo.

Up The Banjos!

Please do not talk about Jansky like that

100%

Had Arnie Slot took over Southampton instead of Liverpool last season, he too would have been sacked by Xmas

Van nistelrooy won 3 out of 4 at Man U, but looked useless at Leicester

It will be interesting to see how Selles does with a team that’s chasing promotion rather than in the shit

Either way, we support the club not Wilder. Good luck to Chris, even more luck to Selles
