Wilder isn't your biggest problem. That's the players you have been left with. We could make a list of his faults including nothing is ever his fault, but he has the experience to get you out of this mess.

You just need to keep picking up points until January and take it from there. There's a fair few poor sides and managers and it won't take a lot to go past them. With the state of Wednesday there's only another two sides to go above.

That overachievement last season and some horrendous recruitment this has balanced things out. People can now see what we are and to a large extent what we were. Sensibilities have changed; realism has kicked in. Add in the fitness issues and you have a turd cake.

Like everybody else I'm lost as to why what is practically the same set of players as last season could now be so poor .
The only consolation I can think of is just how bad it would have been if we had won promotion.......

I completely understand what youre getting at here - but look at the squad - who are you putting in these positions?

We don't have a single capable right-back - maybe one decent centre half in Tanganga. Wilder maybe would've signed Mee but it would've been to do a Rob Holding cover job - not start week in week out.

We have central midfielders made out of biscuits which probably leaves you with Soumare & Peck - a pair of kids trying to do each others job. Don't mention Matos - another league 1 level player.
We have no adequate wingers - Ogbene, Barry, Brooks all league 1 players.

Two strikers? Neither campbell or ings capable of playing over an hour - Cannon would struggle to get in some sunday league sides the way he's playing. One again a young kid who should be in League 1.

Hamer and Arblaster out injured for god knows how long. Davies never fit for more than a couple of games.

You play 442 you also lose our only decent player this season in O'Hare.

The recruitment this summer is some of the worst we've ever seen - and I include the Hecky Prem season in that. We seem to have a huge squad of players incapable of playing at the level.

Would any of the teams who finished in the top 6 last season seriously have considered signing McGuinness, Ogbene, Chong, Matos etc?

The manager of course is not helping himself (if seriki is fit then he has to be on the bench instead of matos for example) but I think Guardiola would struggle to get this bunch to gel at the minute.

I’m saying we did the right thing getting rid at the end of last season we did the wrong thing in recruiting a very successful repeating failure- which left us with one option as no one with any credence would want to go near it
