It would have to be a really stupid amount for it to make a case of letting the Beard go. Seriously, we shouldn't accept anything less than £5m - but we all know how players contracts are constructed don't we? Any minimum bid clause in there could force it through no matter what the board would like to do.

JB is captain material at Championship level never mind L1 so for that reason alone then 'I'm out!'

100%. I'd accept a fair bit less than that. He is not value for money and we could sign two good players in key positions as well as a replacement. It would surprise me if Forest and Wolves want him - unless he's available for well under a million, and I don't think we'd even do that.
Wouldn't want to repeat myself or anything like that but is that the same Forest who are under transfer embargo and can only sign loan players with Football League permission?

We could sign players for the money but do you trust our recruitment process to risk losing our best player yet again? The net result always seems to see us worse off. I'd be very reluctant to let Brayford go as he is about all we've got going for us at the moment.

It's definitely a point to consider but we can't just give up on making good signings. I suppose we've got the new chief scout to cling to for a bit of hope.

Is that why he's never been captain at Championship level? And why he's not even our captain in L1? He's not a leader at all. He's just a better player than the rest we've got and the fans like him.

lolz

..so are they not very good reasons to hang on to him? Better player, fans like him, he's took a pay cut to fall within our pay structure, a fans favourite puts bums on seats which pays for that 'fans favourites' salary.

Simples!

to add: Better players.... attract Better players.

Not saying give up on making good signings but hanging onto players who are proven to be your best players is almost always a better bet than the gamble of a new signing. The way to build a good team for me is keep your best players, replace the deadwood/hasbeens/signings that haven't worked out year on year for steady improvement.

But the thing is, we won't finance better signings by moving out the players we don't want. We'd have to pay a lot of them to leave. And we can't be aiming for a steady year on year improvement in League One. Every season we're here we have to be aiming for promotion. The best way to do it this season would be by cashing in on Adams at least and signing players who'll get us up. We won't go up without more signings and it seems we have to sell before we buy, and we don't have many who we can get decent money for. Adams is one and he's not even an important player for us.

They're not reasons to make him captain. They'd usually be reasons to keep him, but you have to factor in what we could get for him, what we could do with that money and the wages he's on - he might have taken a pay cut but his wages will still be excessive for League One. And since he signed permanently he's nowhere near justified it.

we 'could' but we won't . .we will sign ten shit full backs in a vain attempt to replace him

Personally I think it's all shit until Mike "The Knowledge" Stephenson confirms it.

Let's hear it for Mike...

Mike???

Mi....?

Oh never mind.

Lets hope the show host was speaking bollocks like they usually do. Let me guess who it was, Rob Staton by any chance?

Just listened to it, it was Rob Staton. He mentioned Hanson when talking to a caller about Sammon being crap saying Hanson's the sort of player you want Sammon to be. Then another caller rang after (Ian?) and picked up on it and Staton said "he would be top of my list".

Cheers for that. I thought it would be that twat! Staton needs to stick to the fuckers at south Barnsley as he clearly knows fuck all about the league we currently find ourselves in, Hanson is Bobby Barr.

To be fair to Hanson, he won pretty much every header against us. He just had nobody up near him to capitalise.

He headed the ball back/cushioned it down on multiple occasions. I imagine Edgar and Collins both thought they had been in a tough battle afterwards.

He's not prolific no. But could be a good foil for Sharp.

This is exactly why i don't want him, mate. I don't think it's fair that Billy has to take all the goalscoring responsibility, we should have two players up top if that's the formation we're playing who can both score a sufficient amount of goals. Unfortunately, Sammon and Hanson aren't those players.
