Just chucking my opinion out. With hindsight that was a very good opponent for us to face.

First half was excellent. Lots of quick accurate passing, really pleasing movement off the ball too, particularly from McCallum down the left. O'Hare looked very promising again, and it was great to see he and Hamer linking up well.

Moore was unlucky not to score, but showed some great moments with the ball at his feet, to show he's not just a big lump we can launch the ball at.

2nd half was a little more sloppy. Disappointing stuff from Anel & JLT for their goal - poor footwork from JLT allowing the ball to reach the man at the back post, and I've fuck all clue as to why Anel let himself be drawn across to the near post - should have been holding a position between JLT and the lad who scored as a secondary chance to block the cross.

We seemed to regain control between some of the substitutions being made, but we can't rely on that in the league - we won't have teams making 7 or 8 subs across 20 mins to slow the game down.

Marsh's movement for the winner was very nice. Peels off his marker to get free ti reach the rebound. Smart to anticipate the rebound as well. The more I've seen of him this pre-season, the more comfortable I'd be to see him in the squad at Preston.

Shame we didn't get to see Burrows, but I imagine Wilder wants him to get a full week training with the squad before throwing him in. I'd expect to see him either start at Hudds, or be a HT sub.

Very pleased with pre-season overall so far. Looks like everyone is buying into the plan from the coaching staff, and players are all getting important game time.

All that is missing now is the transfers we all know are needed, but I'm keeping faith that those will come. Let's not forget that we've made some very crucial signings late in windows before (MGW anyone?), so it's not a disaster if we still need bodies by the time we get to Preston.

You really have a problem with anyone who gives their objective opinion don’t you ?

Bang on the money. The guy has got serious issues. Probably stems back to his childhood, so we shouldn't be too judgemental.

Always love Duffield for the game at the Lane v Portsmouth in the 80s. Midweek game (i was on leave and drove up for it), promotion pushing teams, Portsmouth with their usual suspects, Kevin Ball, Mick Tait and a few others being their dirty fouling time wasting twats as always, scored early and were winning 1-0 until late in the game. Ref an absolute arsehole who was giving United nothing. Portsmouth wasting time like utter twats. Finally, really late in the game, Pompey foul a Blades player (Morris?) and reluctantly the ref gives a pen in front of a frustrated desperate Kop. Up he steps and plants it in the corner and we are level. 1 min later (deep into injury time), another foul, another reluctant (nailed on) penalty awarded, and up steps Duffield to win it. It was fucking sweet that. The look on their faces still keeps me warm and smiling on a winters night. Duffield the coolest cat in the ground thag night. Thanks Duff. Top man.
That was the first game my brother came to with me and my Dad.

After the match, walking back into Rotherham, did anyone else see the 6 dudes dressed up in mourning clothes carrying a black ‘coffin’ on their shoulders down the middle of the road against the flow of supporters?
WTF was that about?
Is the tekkover dead & buried?
Yeah, saw that. I reckon it'll end up in some music video 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ah yes, very good.
All I could come up with was some sort of protest/statement about something but had no idea what.
Actually forgot that I'd taken a photo (I'm blaming the Chantry Special Reserve) 🤣

The 4-2-3-1 is a refreshing change compared to what we've seen for the last few years, but it won't work against teams that play a back 3, as it leaves Moore up top alone and outnumbered.

As much as he can hold up the ball, there's no space for him to do anything in and no space for people to run past him. Perhaps against these teams we need to change to a 4-1-3-2.

I liked Moore yesterday but he needed help from runners, and other than O'Hare, he wasn't getting any. In the second half he was completely isolated.
