Stuttering second half not helped by the old failure of conceding straight after half time. JLT error but having a goalkeeper who hugs his line doesn't help. Brooks had a good game, good feet. Souza looked up for it but the difference was when you take Hamer, Arblaster and OHare off the invention drops due to a lack of quality replacements.

Good cameo from Peck and Marsh shows a strikers instinct in the box. Credit to Rovrum worked harder and closed us down but there will be more difficult challenges in the Championship. We need as a bare minimum before the season starts a solid CB, RB and Goalkeeper to come in.

Very poor from Seriki on the goal also

After Tuesdays game someone on here described Dozzell as a 'blocker' and my opinion is that he is no better than Peck. I have nothing against signing Dozzell at the right money, but not at the expense of developing players we already have at the club.

Del Geary is the academy manager now so overlooks the whole academy set up, he took over that role when Jack Lester moved to become 1st team coach. Believe Matt Thorpe is currently u18s head coach but not sure on that.

If I remember correctly smaller players like Todd and Duffield and some other were bombed out by Basset.The last time a lot of them played together they stuck 2 fingers up at Bassett by smashing Oldham 7-2

Duffield played right wing in the 88-89 season and scored 15 goals. The next season he broke his leg at Swindon. By the time he returned, we were in the top flight. Mark Todd, was also a big contributor in that 3rd division season, but lost his place the next year, with the signing of John Gannon.

Pretty rubbish, outplayed by the Rotherham guys when we lost control of the game early in the second half, got in one decent position and blasted a cross so hard that nobody had a hope of getting on the end of it. Peck came on and completely outclassed him, it'd be a complete waste of a wage if we sign him.

Midweek game (i was on leave and drove up for it), promotion pushing teams, Portsmouth with their usual suspects, Kevin Ball, Mick Tait and a few others being their dirty fouling time wasting twats as always, scored early and were winning 1-0 until late in the game. Ref an absolute arsehole who was giving United nothing. Portsmouth wasting time like utter twats. Finally, really late in the game, Pompey foul a Blades player (Morris?) and reluctantly the ref gives a pen in front of a frustrated desperate Kop. Up he steps and plants it in the corner and we are level. 1 min later (deep into injury time), another foul, another reluctant (nailed on) penalty awarded, and up steps Duffield to win it. It was fucking sweet that. The look on their faces still keeps me warm and smiling on a winters night. Duffield the coolest cat in the ground thag night. Thanks Duff. Top man.

Kevin Ball a nasti piece of work used to get away with murder in them days.
He tried to intimidate Duffield literally almost man handling him.He was having none of it and put them both away in his usual manner.The ref was a joke as what Ball did was shocking ! He Did nothing !!
