Rochdale fan seems to think no chance it will be on due to them laying pitch recently and basically any rain and its screwed:

From their forum:

I was talking to a work colleague today who is an Oldham fan and a lawn obsessive on a par with the great Hank Hill.

''Saw that your game was off - knew it would be,'' he said.

I asked how he had attained this impressive level of prophesy. It seems - and, believe me, he knows his stuff, OCD-stylee - that the pitch has been relaid too early in the year.

While temperatures are so low, grass simply doesn't grow unless it is heated artificially, which means the constant application of light and heat from banks of mechanised trolleys.

My Oldham sage proffered the notion that Dale's ground staff had 'probably been watering it all day' because a thorough soaking can at least encourage some down-growth.

In the end, he believes the club was left with the worst of both scenarios - the roots hadn't taken but the pitch was soaked through.

''It would have been like playing on a soggy carpet slipping all over t'shop on a polished wooden floor,'' was his last word on the subject.

And what of the chances of us playing on Saturday, I asked. He just smirked.
If that's correct, and I don't doubt it, why on earth are they putting a new pitch down at this time of year?

Flown in all the way from.... Scunthorpe
I could be wrong but I'm sure the grass is also used for Wembley,my twinnys live at Winteringham and they've got it down in the back garden,it's not all that if I'm honest, doesn't look much after my boys have had a knock about for half hour or so on it,so not holding out much hope for game going ahead on Saturday even though we've got tickets for Rochdale!

Surely they can bring forward one of the regular Wicker Man burning sacrifices that remain popular in Rochdale? Should give enough heat and light to get the grass to knit.

Thinking about it do we want to play on a pudding pitch where it's a lottery?

May be a blessing in disguise if it is off, especially if Scunny and Fleetwood draw and Bolton lose.

I was thinking this earlier. The pitch is likely to be a state even if the game goes ahead.

Was thinking the same earlier actually. If it does go ahead then is there going to be a risk of players getting injured cause the pitch isn't actually ready? Ridiculous decision from Rochdale to relay the pitch in February.

I'm sure we'll have a Plan B if the pitch doesn't suit our passing game. I bloody hope so as when we go to Oldham we're going to need one judging by the state of what's left of their pitch from watching last Saturday's highlights.

They've already played on the pitch on 18 Feb so I don't understand how rooting issues and the subsequent refusal to cover the pitch could lead to this one being called off.

They've got 14 days to sort it out after this game.

"Cyril Smith, Gracie Fields, Lisa Stansfield, Bill Oddie, Anna Friel, Steve Coogan, John Virgo, Jimmy Cricket and Julie Goodyear. Your boys have taken one hell of a beating.........."
I take it from that line up that Cyril Smith is in goal? Bit of a fatty fouke? And I suppose Julie Goodyear has to be the big one up front?

Well, if that's the case the buggers can just forfeit the three points, please. Rank negligence ?

If the squeegees don't work, they'll probably try using their special guest.

P.S. Fully all-ticket (for home fans too). Disappointing. Was hoping to nip over ticketless & go in one of the home stands.

people talk like we cant play on wet pitches
I have memories of us playing on rainy days before
Im sure weve won a few of them

If this is postponed the only midweek slot available is week commencing 24th April and thats if they don't rearrange their home game against Port Vale for that week - lets hope they're gonna do everything possible to get this match on!

sod available dates.

I've got a ticket and I'm looking forward to it.

Get the bloody thing on and show the team Stainrods hat trick "goal" against Luton that didn't quite make it over the line because it stuck in a puddle to remind em to kick it hard enough !!!

just want to know people's thoughts on tomorrow's game at that barn. Does anyone Think it will go ahead?
