They did indeed - just before the Charlton game.
The grass came all the way from...........................Scunthorpe....apparently !
It should be better than a desso as long as they put some bloody covers on it.

For reference the best time to lay grass is April and September. (Allegedly). The main reason being these periods are followed by periods of frequent rainfall.Yes, that quote made me smile, as though Scunny was well known as the source for surfaces like the centre court at Wimbledon.
I know nothing about the world of grass, but it seems a very odd time of year to lay a new pitch, it surely won't knit (or do embroideryin February?
Good!Forecast isn't looking as bad now. Dry today and Saturday, rain on Friday. As long as they cover the pitch tomorrow we should be OK.
It's Rochdale, you get frequent periods of rainfall every month. For reference the best time to lay grass is April and September. (Allegedly). The main reason being these periods are followed by periods of frequent rainfall.

red & white tinted glasses I know, but that ground really is a shithole of a death trap.

Just been reading the Rochdale board and the bad news is they seem to think the game will be off. Good news is that it's their "Exiles day" , a promotion where where fans who no longer live in Rochdale aree invited to come to the game so they think it will be called off early enough before people set off

I saw the Look North Weather forecast and it looked hot!!!

No rain today, forecast dry tomorrow morning with rain coming in the evening and night, no rain forecast Saturday. If that's accurate and the game is called off they should be fined for incompetence!Just been reading the Rochdale board and the bad news is they seem to think the game will be off. I like your thinking! If the forecast is right and they have a pitch cover then I don't see how it could be postponed.

It will have a chance of being on as they didn't play the other fat. If they cover the pitch when it is forcadt to rain it has a chance if being ok. Looking forward to going for a post match curry 5 mins walk from the away end on Spotland road so it had better be onSpoke to a Rochdale fan earlier, who is doubtful it'll be on.
Spoke to a Man City fan who doesn't live too far away, who incidentally also knows one of the Rochdale players, and he reckons it'll be fine.

it is called Pavillion . Turn right out of the away end. Turn right at the main road and at the bottom.of the hill btake the left fork at the lights.. You will see a kebab house on the corner of the junction on your right and the curry restaurant is next door. Been there twice now and good for pre match ( if a night game) and post game. I have to keep my body in the manner it is accustomed to ( ie fat bastard ). There is also street parking round thereWhich curry house ??
Just amended my reply. It is called PavillionWhich curry house ??

Why the fucking hell have they even relayed their pitch at this stage of the season?
Getting it perfect just in time for the visit of The Blades. The weather seems to have other ideas though......Why the fucking hell have they even relayed their pitch at this stage of the season?
Going by train so take long to walk ?
At least half an hours walk....bit of a trek from centre and 5-10 min walk from station to centre - ground then even further out. Tram from Manc gets you closes (15 min walk).
Hope it is on as I am in Manchester for the weekend for other stuff so has worked out perfect us playing there. If not I will probably go to a game somewhere else. Get a new ground in maybe. Accrington v Barnet anyone?!
