I both created and bumped this thread... But Nixon has probably read this yesterday to make up his latest rumour.

Holding played and won two FA Cup finals with Arsenal though, for the record. He's far from being a terrible player. Considering the dearth of centre backs available, I think he must've been a consideration.

Just a thought , we might not be able to buy Tanganga and stay within FFP ? What if we buy him and fail to gain promotion ? The meltdown on here when we need to sell in the close season to comply would be unbelievable!! The first one to go would probably be Hamer as he’s the most saleable and or Souza ? I would love Tanganga but maybe he’s not viable now but one to visit if we go up ?
As ever UTB !

I'm not expert on FFP but pretty sure the sales of 'homegrown' players Osula and Jebbison will have helped massively with that and there should be no problem staying within it for Tanganga

It isn't clear exactly how much we got up front for Ousla but lets say it is £10m. Because he was our academy player that is £10m profit. We pay say £10m up front for Cannon on a five year contract, amortisation means that is a cost against FFP of £2m. Take Burrows and Cooper at £2m each over 4 years with amortisation that is another £1m a year and another £1m for Moore (£3m on a 3 year contract). Off the top of my head I can't think of any others we have actually paid money for but I could be wrong. Either way if we actually have the money we could easily spend another £10m without troubling FFP as long as we give them3/4 year contracts.

Most expensive of the 4.
Easily the best, but unfortunately most expensive as well.
Exactly. If we’re willing to spend on cannon, surely these owners wanna spend on probs the most important signing of the 5. Will also retain resale value if we didn’t go up.

We've been after Cannon since the Summer.
The Souttar replacement wasn't an issue until recently. We've bought Cannon and Souttar was a loan, I would have thought we were expected to go into the loan market again to replace him.
I know we have 5 loans now but would anyone care if Alfie or JRS sat out alternative weekends so we could replace Souttar properly?

Personally I would have gone for the Wycombe lad up top (probably half the value of Cannon) a more attacking midfielder than Choudhury on loan, not bothered with a RB if Seriki was close to fitness, then had a loan and at least £5m in the kitty for a CB...
But, I'm not Wilder, and none of us are even close.

Everyone knows FFP doesn’t matter if you get promoted. And in the event you then get relegated you either sell players for large sums of cash and still have a squad more than capable of yo-yoing back up again.

Not financially responsible, but so many clubs are gaming the system in some form.

On loan? Would that be bye bye Gilchrist...or something weird like turning Clarke into a permanent?
