He’s played 125 league games in an 11 year career. Nothing to do with “disliking” him, I’m not 12 😂 facts are facts, he’s not played many games for a 29 year old. Lovely hair transplant though.
You may be right, but he's here now, and we'll soon know if he's what we need. Probably best to give the guy a chance,
after all, Wilder's approved this signing so let's wait and see.

He'll fit in well with his injury record. Stupid having 6 loan players. But hey ho.

“Very good” 🤔. So good Palace didn’t even bother playing him at all and he’s less games in 11 years than I had wanks last year.
Not a fair metric though that is it… I know for a fact you were ranking yourself off against the all time appearance lists and came just short on Buffon.

Not bad to say the majority of those were for Arsenal.

The alternative centre backs we were being linked with wouldn’t get near the Arsenal team let alone make over 100 appearances for them.

I’m surprised at the negativity (or am I). Honestly do not get all the hype around either Dunne or Tanganga…Holding is a perfectly fine signing and I think he’ll prove that in these remaining games. We’ve had a good window. Let’s get our heads down now and motor on to 90+ points.

Excellent point.

So when you read that half the Arsenal fans say Holding is very average to decent standard with the other half saying he was pretty crap.

Their benchmark is world class centre back level.

90% of their fans would probably say Souttar and Ahmedhodzic are total dogshit if they played in the Arsenal team,
insisting they were some of the worse defenders they’ve ever seen at their club.

Also if Dunne and Tanganga played in the Arsenal defence their fans would probably roll around laughing at how poor they were.

And Palace are so smart they paid £4m for the privilage

It does make me laugh that Palace are down to 3 fit senior CBs and let him go anyway!

I'm not worried about his ability but, given his lack of games, I am concerned about his match fitness/sharpness for the Championship.

6 loan players , eh ?

Barring injury ,

BBD is never gonna be out of the 20.

Hamza isn't either , if he doesn't start , he covers Souza & RB.

Clarke is our best RB , so he'll be in.

Alfie covers CB & RB , so he'll be in.

This Holding bloke is Souttar's replacement so he'll be in.

Looks like JRS will be missing out.
Seriki when fit looks better.
And Hamer , O'Hare , BBD & Brewster can play RW.

They are gonna have to check that teamsheet very carefully before they submit it.
It'd be so Bladey to name all 6 loanees and get another points deduction.

I don't think having six will be a huge issue. Competition is good. I suspect JRS will miss out until Femi is back, then give Gilchrist a rest and we'll see who is injured or needs a breather after that.

There will probably some kind of rotation. When fit JRS is still one of the most gifted players in the entire squad. The type of player who can win games on his own on this level.
I mean, just a few months ago we were scared Palace might call him back.

wouldn’t hate this.

You don’t play all your football in the PL and for sides like Arsenal without something about you.

Seems to be relatively tough tackling and decent in the air - he should have enough ability on the ball given he has played European football for Arsenal that he should be technically strong enough at this level. It has the hall marks of a decent addition to me.
If you covered the names of Tanganaga, Dunne, Souttar and Holding and had to choose one to be with you for the second half of the season, I’m not sure how anyone wouldn’t come up with Holding.

He’s a couple of appearances off 100 Premier League games and 1 off 30 European games.

And those 98 PL games are not relegation seasons.

Dunne has 3 PL games to his name, has played his best football of late at right back.

Tanganga has 27 PL appearances and 8 European games playing for a lesser club that Holding was.

Souttar has 12 PL appearances.

Holding would have been a decent player for Palace on probably a rotational or starting basis. He fell out with the manager and we benefit.

The one downside is that Gilchrist or Clarke or even Rak-Sakyi may miss out on the matchday squad once he’s up to speed.

But for six months, you could scarcely hope for someone with more know how to come in and help you over the line.

He’s 29. He’s not even old.

I think it could be an inspired signing.

I’m a season we were getting our arses handed to us most weeks.

We’d have loved a centre back of his caliber and background.

Yet only the following season after a clash with the manager, he’s no good for us in the division below?

6 loans is financially brain dead business, especially when ours are costing a fortune.
I don't think that the short term costs is the issue here. If these loan signings get us over the line, then without a doubt it will be money well invested.
Loan players can be released next season if not required.

He played in most games for arsenal 22-23, hasn't played last season.
Fuck me , how are some people so negative??

If we’d not gone for Cannon let’s say. We’d have had Two/Three players there competing for one spot. Currently we’ve spent 10M on a striker (massive outlay) and we’re in a position where we need at least one CB, I’d feel comfortable with two.

I’d rather we spent half the fee on a striker, to get the lad from millwall and another CB.
I’m not sure we needed two centre backs. You’d then have Gilchrist, Robbo, Anel, Holding, RND, Baptiste (good to have him in the squad) fighting for 2 positions.

It’s clear that it’ll be Clarke or Seriki right back if both fit. You can have too many options and hurt the team spirit if you have players moaning they’re not in the squad.

Cannon will come good, prior to signing him we realistically had Moore (injured) Campbell (injury prone), Brewster (injury prone) & BBD who prefers to play on the wing. A goalscorer will be the difference in promotion especially in the bigger games
