Speaks well sounds like he could be that leader and that settling presence. Wouldn’t have been my first choice but hopefully it’s a Norwood type situation Northern lad coming back home close to family and it’s just a great fit both ways and he goes on to have a successful loan and then who knows maybe longer here.

Welcome, a much needed CB with a point to prove abd bags of experiance.

Think some are a bit underwhelmed cause a bit of a blind sided signing. The others were all met with some derision about their quality (Dunne and Darling) but as usual their names got whipped up into the only ones we needed then Tanganga’s name got mentioned and he was the only one etc etc.

Let’s give the lad a chance to become a legend.

Agree….i’m sure Wilder will be making a point during his interview how Holdings career has stalled, so we’ve bought a hungry player with a point to prove.

The other defenders we were chasing were instant guaranteed top Championship level defenders.
Where as Holding is yesterdays man and more of an unknown quantity becuase he’s hardly played 1st team football for 2 years.
However let’s be honest….if he was good in the Premier league….then now that he’s older and hungrier to succeed
There’s a realistic chance he could rip it up at this level and show that’s still got it and far too good for this level.

As someone mentioned this could prove to be a very shrewd signing….we’ll see.

5 options at CB (Holding, Anel, Gilchrist, Robbo, Baptiste) and 16 games left, including a few 2 game weeks.

While Holding hasn't been playing 1st team football for Palace, he has been playing U21's games so it's not like he's not played any football all season, just at a lower level than senior football.

Lets say Holding plays 10-12 games this season (he might even play more), and the remaining 4-6 games are split between Robbo and Gilchrist, that's a decent amount of games from him.

It was always going to feel like a bit of a letdown compared to Tanganga and Dunne, but he's here now and hope he does well.

I'm very happy at this. He's a loan so CW has a game by game decision as to which loan player sits out.

But given this is the JTW and not the summer transfer window, and all who is available, I think this could be a golden loan.

And he wants to come and play with us.. he is from Stalybridge so he is just across the Woodhead or Snake Pass....

Well done SUFC,

toledo / dayton

The squad is much much stronger now than it was a few weeks ago.

We’ve competition everywhere now - part from maybe keeper

RB - Gilchrist / Clarke / Seriki
LB - Burrow/ McCullam / RND
CB - Holding / anel / Robbo / Gilchrist

CM - peck / Souza / Davies / hamza

AM - O’hare / JRS / Brewster / Hamer / Brooks

ST - BBD / Campbell / Moore / One / Cannon

There are some decent players who won’t make the bench.
One of the loan players won't be allowed in the match day squad

I think Holding is a good signing. Very good transfer window. Apart from William Conrad of course... our new scapegoat!

It's us. At least one will be injured at any given point in time, so having the extra cover will definitely come into it's own.
This 👆

Chance of all 6 loanees being fit for every remaining game is fairly slim I'd imagine.

Good pedigree, great signing.

It’s very easy to look at the downside of this and concentrate on his shortcomings.

For me, there are more positives than negatives. He has 16 games to prove that point.
GLTTL.

The other 5 loanees must be mighy pissed off 🤔

I doubt it. Unless they are key players, most know that they are likely to spend the odd game sat in the stands.

I am struggling to get excited by this. Screams panic signing.
We need a CH, period. So we couldn't get Tanganga, therefore our options were limited, so what were we supposed to do?

Holding isn't a wilting violet, he likes the battle and has played against some outstanding forwards and acquitted himself well,
so right now, where we are, with a need for a combative CH, we could have done a lot worse than Holding, so let's give the guy
a chance before we the type of irrational dislike that helps no one.

Holding will want to impress, and it's a good platform for him to show he's capable of being that player we currently need.

He’s played 125 league games in an 11 year career. Nothing to do with “disliking” him, I’m not 12 😂 facts are facts, he’s not played many games for a 29 year old. Lovely hair transplant though.

That's the January window unfortunately , we needed to replace Souttar and have finished up with a very good replacement.
A loan isn't ideal but needs must
“Very good” 🤔. So good Palace didn’t even bother playing him at all and he’s less games in 11 years than I had wanks last year.
