Surely LCB cover?

Bit of a surprise for me, signed 2 new LBs, so unless the other 2 (McCollum perhaps) are considered midfield options too?

That one, along with his work at England youth levels. Yes a long time has transpired since then, true, but there is a reason why we "spunked" the money we did on him, and it's not what he had already done. Fully accept it's unlikely that it will ever be realised at this stage
Also regards the money we spunked on him. I think Liverpool saw us coming. We were desperate after losing out on other targets at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

I do believe it or not, sit on the kop or Westfield upper. Don’t drink as I drive to the match with my stepdad and brother. I see it for what it is. Apologies I don’t think the sun shines out his arse and find the cheerleader persona makes up for our highest transfer fee ever paid and an insane amount of money in wages.

Under Hecky , he had pace, strength in the tackele and read the game well. I think his best position is LWB, but I'm happy with him at LCB.

A quality player who just needs more games/ I can't even begin to understand your negativity. We didn't pay a fee for him - are we talking about the same RND?

Crossed lines here matey. I’m talking about Brewster 😂

Contrast to RND, he looked quality before the injuries, a player we missed for ages whilst out. I can’t say the same for Brewster. We didn’t miss his goals, because he never scored!

True. I don't think anyone saw it as anything other than a moderate overpay at the time, and anyone who says otherwise is either involved in revisionist thinking, results oriented thinking, or both. A strong, rational recruitment department maybe tells Wilder "leave him, he's not worth it" at the time but we can't have those sorts of nice things

Aye, don’t think it helped Wilder seemed to make it his personal vendetta to sign him. Ultimately giving a “it’s him or nobody” attitude. Cost us in the long run but again, hindsight’s a wonderful thing

Another one Wildee convinced to stay.

Excellent deal all round 👏 👏

I doubt he took much convincing. If I was RND I'd have snapped the club's arm off for a 3-year-deal given his injury concerns.

At his peak, he's great.
We just haven't seen yet whether he can get back to it, which is sort of why this has taken me by surprise. Huge leap of faith. Hopefully we've got it right and he can be the big asset he was pre-injury.

The injuries will slow down now they have had some proper conditioning. Like you say hopefully can really kick on now.

I don’t think he’s been fit enough for long enough to be loaned out has he?

Do you think Wilder is stupid for playing him?
Blindly hoping he comes good after 4 seasons, rinse repeat, I’m not Wilder so can’t answer what reasons you would keep flogging this situation, Tuesday night he played well except the bit he needs to actually do, I’m hopeful the lad does come good but between his injuries and actual goals scored we haven’t made any progress with him whatsoever, I’m not a manager and think Wilder does some amazing work, this transfer window shows him at his best, I’m personally not sold on Brewster and think he should have gone on loan if we could have

I’m guessing Wilder has a deeper insight than anyone on here with regards to what a fully fit Brewster could do.

He’s not long since been offered a new contract so this could indicate a few things needed altering in his new one, like a minimum fee release clause and a tad higher wages just for starters as I know there’s been interest in his signature but there’s only been a few low ball bids for him from what I can gather.

He’s a cracking player to have around if he can rediscover his from and fitness pre injury.

I get that….but why would we? I’m playing devils advocate. But could it play into RNDs hands that he can’t seem to get fit so a reduced deal is worth it for him & we get the benefit of a decent player on reduced terms albeit with a high injury risk.

It’s not like we’ve got cash to throw around so it won’t have been given up easily
Think you need to consider what it would cost to bring in a quality replacement as opposed to having a fit again RND back to compete.
Of course it remains to be seen if he's back or close to the player we know, but the coaching staff won't pull any punches so we'll see if he's going to be
an important member of this squad.

Don't know we're you get your information from but most sources say that mcburnie offer was 'cheekily low'
I agree with that. We had been relegated, McBurnie has a terrible injury/discipline record and he was an unreliable goal scorer. What did he do to warrant an improved deal? I don't miss him and I never will. A terrible signing when you look back over the entire five seasons he was here.

Personally, I'm happy that RND is staying. During the first couple of months of our promotion season no one was playing particularly well except Norwood and RND, who were both consistent stand out performers, then he got injured. That says a lot for me to call Norwood consistent.

Agreed, haven’t we already done that with mccalum & burrows though? Unless they see one of those playing further forward.

A 3 year deal for a fit RND is great business but he’s not been that for 2 years which is a long time. I/ we all hope he gets back to where he was and if he does this will have been a shrewd resigning

The official site specifically mentioned we were in discussions with him. Some itk types even said we agreed with him only for that to obviously not happening the end.
And like I said the offer was so heavily weighted in Uniteds favour it was seen as a bit of a pisstake and mcburnie was still going to accept it until his late change of mind

That was a painful watch.. Lads game was built around his Athleticism and physicality and he has lost 2 yards of pace, always looked an odd one to give him a new contract after such a long couple of injury lay offs.

I Feel sorry for him but we aren’t a Charity, I know Wilder said he liked liked him for his heart and desire but that is no good if your legs don’t work anymore,

Yep.
Let’s hope he’s not fit and getting back some fitness, conditioning and simple sharpness.
Cos he was terrible

Clearly not match fit, as to be expected, resulting in a poor performance. When fit he's decent, but not great, like some are making out.
