He was my first ever favourite Blade player because he scored the winning goal against Everton in the FA Cup 3rd round in January 1970. Although I wasnt at the match but I became a committed Blade just after.

He got injured at the Luton away game in December 1970 and that was his last league game for us but he played in the County Cup game after the end of the season.

In 1971-72 he became the player-manager at Hereford and wore the number 6 shirt in their famous 2-1 win against Newcastle in the FA Cup replay.

He managed clubs in England and in Spain.

One memory i have of Colin cant remember who it was against!
Scored a header from a corner and the ref blew for half time while the ball was in the air ! Crazy decision really never known of it happening since! Why let the corner be taken when he was going to blow for half time.

Clive Thomas did in the 1978 World Cup, Brazil v Sweden blew for full time

Sad news. The 2 goals we scored against Everon in the cup in 1970 were brilliant. One from Addison and one from Reece and both from Woody crosses. They both feature on the tribute video to Woody. Everton were a very good side and I think they went on to win the league that year. United though beat them fair and square that day. I was only 9 years old but remember it like it was yesterday. Good player was Colin. Went on to have a decent managerial career. RIP Colin

I’m sure it was against QPR but I can’t remember the tear.

It was in during injury time after 90 mins against QPR in November 1970, It was a shot, not a header

Sad news but some great memories. Willie Carlin and him cost £40000 each and were replacements for Mick Jones and Alan Birchenall who we sold for £100000 each and of course we were relegated even though they both proved good signings.
Colin initially played for us as a striker but by 1970/71 had switched to midfield. He was skillful, used the ball well and was our midfield enforcer being successful as a ball winner.
I was at Luton the day he was injured midway through the season and our form suffered a bit until a replacement was found in Trevor Hockey.
I often wondered if he would return to us as a manager but it never materialised.
