I stand corrected. Hull didn’t lose all their games after winning at the Lane in march 1971. They in fact lost 4. Blades must have gone on impressive run to finish second
We did, but at 2-0 down at QPR with not long to go it seemed unlikely.
And we'd lost Dave Powell to injury if my memory serves me well?

I think radio 2 sport had live updates from Loftus Rd that day as I can still remember it coming over that we had scored 2 very quick and very late goals to comeback from the dead.

QPR away next, I was there!
Back from the dead with 2 late goals and we never looked back!
Yes that was our first match after being butchered by Hull city.
We really weren't at the races in that game ! I think it was a hangover from that diabolical Hull defeat.2 nil down going towards injury time and there wasn't much of that in them days.
Woody scored a deflected goal to bring us to life and then Bill Dearden won a penalty Ted Hemsley put it away and we pinched a point.
From the kick off Rodney Marsh blasted the ball at our goal from the halfway line in frustration.we really got out of jail there! I think the players were really down as nothing went right in that match until the deflected Woody goal.
No doubt that point galvanised us ! 21 games unbeaten from that point.it was a great period to be a Blade.
