Adam Davies and Osborn can go
Personally would keep them both but that's just my opinion.

Davies just to cover that 3rd Keeper slot so we can sign 2 keepers (hopefully) which would allow the likes of Faxon to go out on loan.

Osborn is handy as a squad player in the championship but if he wanted to go and try and get some first team football elsewhere I wouldn't be wholly against the idea of letting him go.

You say reluctant, but don’t forget Archer was excellent at Championship level - yes this season has clearly been a poor one for him but if for some reason he is still our player next season and he can recapture that form, there’s no reason he can’t be one of the best strikers in the division.
Yes, but from our point of view he will be on sizeable wages, and from his point view he clearly wasn’t enjoying himself under Wilder.

*handy when fit

Faxon is the best at the club

If we had a choice between Archer or BBD then the latter wins by a country mile for me.
It's about time the club showed some ambition and put their hand in pockets instead of fettling around behind the sofa.
But we don’t have a choice of either of them. One of them is going back because we got relegated and that’s the terms of the contract, and the other was only ever on loan anyway and probably - quite rightly - sees himself as capable of getting in a higher-placed team.

Yeah, I know but thanks for the time and effort for the reply 👍

but you can still buy someone, like a rotherham keeper. Hate when this tosh gets rolled out before every window.

Spurs confim Werner loan for next season, but United we can't do shit. course we can if we wanted to

It contains zero news. And t’old Jimmy Ramble did 70 minutes on it before it was published.
What a load of empty waffle and hot air the ramble is. Literally adds nothing.

First thing to say is that this list is accurate as of the 3rd Saturday in May when it was sent to the League - so things may have changed in the meantime.

So what have we learned ?

We've exercised our options on Bogle & RND - hopefully the latter will get and stay fit.

I was under the impression that we had an option on Osborn - if so , we have clearly not exercised it - so why are discussions ongoing ?
Are we trying to reduce his wages below what he would have got if we'd exercised our options ?
Are we trying to get him for longer than 12 months ?

Looks like we are interested in keeping Davies , Egan , Jebbison & McBurnie but no contract agreed yet.

On the retained group , there are some we suspect need moving out and others who we'd like to keep but may be tempted away.

Basically the whole squad is up in the air and the takeover talk will not help resolve it.

Looks like we'll have no real idea what's in store till after the season begins.
...and that, sums up the sheer incompetence, stupidity, negligence (delete as appropriate) of the current regime. To lead us into this position. It's inexcusable. We have too much work to do.

I'd genuinely take a temporary spine of a side, and try to stay up next season, until new owners are in place, at which point we can use subsequent transfer windows to build something.

Released: https://www.sufc.co.uk/news/2024/may/29/retained-list/

Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, Sheffield United can confirm the retained and released list.
We wish to thank all players for their contributions during the Premier League campaign.

Retained: Anel Ahmedhodzic, Oliver Arblaster, Cameron Archer, Rhian Brewster, Andre Brooks, Ismaila Coulibaly, Sam Curtis, Tom Davies, Ivo Grbic, Gus Hamer, Will Osula, Jack Robinson, Anis Slimane, Vini Souza, Benie Traore, Auston Trusty.

Option activated: Jayden Bogle, Rhys Norrington-Davies.

Offers made: Daniel Jebbison.

Free transfer: Jordan Amissah, Chris Basham, George Baldock, Wes Foderingham, Max Lowe, Ollie Norwood.

Free transfer (ongoing discussions): Adam Davies, John Egan, Oli McBurnie, Ben Osborn.

Players returning on expiry of their temporary contracts: Mason Holgate, Yasser Larouci, James McAtee, Ben Brereton Diaz.

It's truly incredible after having had 5 years of premier league money and parachute payments this is the legacy we have from it.

Incredibly poorly run club.
The Prince has been truly awful as a leader

The sooner he’s gone the better

He’s the cancer that is whittling away the soul of our proud club - awful

Almost half of the retained will be up for sale as well. Shocking.

Oh and already 2 points behind.

Taking out the players I think will definitely leave as well as players who are not guaranteed new contracts.

Leave: Grbic, Anel, Souza, Traore
Unsure: Egan, Mcburnie, A Davies, Jebbison, Osborn

--------------------(New)
Bogle-(New)-Trusty-JLT-RND
----Hamer-Arblaster-Brooks
-----------Osula-Brewster

Other contracted options: Slimane, Curtis, T Davies

All in all, that's not a bad starting point for a squad rebuild, midfield looks strongest, it will also depend on what formation we decide to go with.

With what happened with Arblaster's loan to PV, hopefully the same thing could happen with the likes of Peck, Marsh, Curtis and Òne where they have a good loan and use that as a springboard to potentially get into the first team.

Edit: (New) are positions where we do not have anyone to step in.

So we retain Cameron Archer..

Villa have said he's going on tour with them in the summer, to fight for a place in thier team. . Dodgy or what?

Jordan Amissah is the interesting one for me, looks to have real presence about him and raw quality yet he’s been released and we keep the other, more experienced keepers on loads more mowlah who simply aren’t good enough for us, I’m interested to see the reasoning behind this one.

Nothing new from SUFC

So this is as close to Asset Stripping as you can get….. we could end up with a squad of only 7 to 9 players after we sell a few to raise more funds!! And people still come on here to defend The Prince!!! After the train smash if a season we have just suffered with total humiliation breaking all sorts of bad records! The sooner this guy just sells up & disappears the better!

'SHEFFIELD UNITED manager Chris Wilder says that more details about the future of a host of Blades players whose deals are due to expire shortly are likely to emerge on 'Wednesday or Thursday.'

Yes loads haven't released there's but people are obviously hanging on to comments from the manager. What to believe anymore 🤷‍♂️
Is Jebbo’s 72 hours up yet?!
