Don't forget that in the 2016-17 League One season (100 points, just six losses), we lost on Nov. 29 at home to Walsall 0-1 and then away to Walsall on Jan. 14, 1-4 (the highest goals we conceded all season). In fact, we only lost three games in the final 27 that season - to Fleetwood and Walsall (twice). Oh, and that same season we lost to Walsall at home 1-2 in round 2 of the Giveafuck Trophy.

I think based on our performances we are 3 points light. Should have got at least a draw against Liverpool, Soton and Leicester.

With hindsight, it has turned out well for us. Those earlier games have proved how good we can be, but also where our weaknesses are. Well worth the lack of 3 points if those lessons strengthen our resolve, and turn in better results, like the Arsenal win.
We will know the worth of it all at seasons end.

But, based on the performance, we shouldn't have won at Everton, so those three points are gone again. It has to go both ways.

Everton despite having a lot of the ball hardly created many clear cut chances.

That is true - 146 league games. The last league game where we were winning at half-time and lost the game was on 1st Jan. 2014 v Walsall away (260 league games ago - Nigel Clough manager). 1-0 up at HT (Chris Porter, 17), Walsall scored in 52 mins and 62 mins. to win 2-1.

Of those 146 league games we've gone in ahead at half time in 88 of them (60.3%), going on to win 75 (51.4% of the total; 85.2% of the 88) and drawing the other 13 (8.9% of the total, 14.8% of the 88).

We won 18 games under Adkins; in 13 of those we were ahead at half time (D2). In a way, that's pretty impressive but it goes to show that NA didn't have a clue how to change a match.

Although all points are important we do need to make sure we beat the weaker teams (at the moment that looks like Watford, Norwich, Newcastle, Brighton) or at least not lose away from home. That way we ensure we stay above them and don’t have to rely on getting results against the top 6. Also there are plenty of teams around or below us who are probably in a slightly false position and quite capable of going on a good run and getting into the top 6 e.g. Manure(especially if they sack Oli), Wolves, Everton.
Apart from Liverpool and Man City it seems to be a division where at the moment almost anyone can beat anyone!

I agree the final league table could be much more congested than normal. Kevin Pullen wrote an article in the RP re relegation/survival and whilst the ‘six pointers’ are crucial as you’d expect, these tend to end up with very similar points totals for the lower teams.
The other two standouts are ‘bonus’ points like Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal so far for us and the ability to avoid consecutive defeats, which so far we have done. Teams who lose back to back on a regular basis stop collecting the odd point or two, which over the course of a season, logically makes a difference. He put it another way by emphasising the ‘bounce back ability’ of poorer teams often proves crucial. Under Wilder we’re conditioned to winning but the draws this season could well be pivotal.

I've given up worrying about it or trying to figure it out and made them my second team instead.
