Removing the sponsor off the Home Shirt. Anyone going to attempt it?

Is it a photo trick or can I see his grey plastic cock there?

What one of those sponsor's who wants to put considerably less money into our (my) beloved club from out of town who doesn't care?

Agreed. I think folks should shut the fuck up about the sponsor logo now. It doesn't float my boat either but I accept it. If you don't like it, don't buy a shirt. I think it's a little disrespectful to be banging on about trying to remove it when it's a local company, Blades fans AND members of this forum who have paid decent money into the clubs coffers to put it there. Get over it.

Surely it's not about the fact there is a sponsor on the shirt, it's the fact the sponsor has been applied in such a shitty manner.

I can't believe Tony Entwistle of John Holland Sales accepted the way his company logo has been presented on the shirt. If it was my piece of rather expensive advertising I would have wanted it to look the best it could, not like a giant H!

Evening.

Well to open everyone's eyes, I agree if Icould have changed the shirt design to incorporate our logo I would have got involved. That was not an option. Changing our logo which has never been in the public eye for critic previously wasn't an option either. ( A logo me and Mark Holland sketched in 2 mins!!) Sheffield design none of this Saatchi and Saatchi expensive stuff for us lads up north!!

Yes we would have loved it to look better but on the whole we are very happy with it and jumping with joy with the away shirt (out Monday).

Also to enlighten the masses the football league regulate the area available for a sponsor so we have to work with the design and a 220 cm squared area that works. Also the finish has been tested to sparkle under floodlight? Hence the grey and not a black font.

Is there any truth in the rumour that Chris "Deadly" Porter has a separate shirt sponsorship deal with Specsavers?

I would not attempt it, I know the sponsor looks tacky, but adidas print transfers don't come off like a macron 1 would. I have had a few bits by adidas with print on transfers and they all still intact.all the training wear has the adidas logo stitched but the blades badge is printed on. completely stupid considering chelseas badge is stitched on. I really doubt it will come off so I don't mind forking out for training clobber. if it did come off the club will swap it no problems I was told in the shop

I just love it when people talk bullshit!

Macron were NOT at fault for the logs coming off. It was a combination of how the transfers were made and the equipment and technique used to apply them. Nothing at all to do with the make of the kit as the kit manufacturers don't actually make the transfers nor do they apply them. If they did then the logos would be part and parcel of the material like in the old Laver sponsor days.

Clutching at straws I believe to try and make adidas better than it is!

For me personally, I was at the Northampton game last night and I have say that I went to watch Sheffield United not Stoke City!
Sorry but for me all of the previous macron kits looked much better but this is just my opinion.

I can't see what the problem is with the sponsor on the shirt. It's a nice, simple design. Would people rather have the huge HFS Loans mousemat that we had a few years ago than a thin, light screen print? Or how about a big, gay Chupa Chups flower that our porcine friends had? Thank you to John Holland Sales for sponsoring us and credit to you for joining this forum. I might try and nip in to see you on Monday as I'm off work. No intention of buying a car though I'm afraid, unless you're going to swap my 63 plate Focus Zetec S for one of your nice shiny supercars? You got any Audi R8's?

We've had sponsors on the front of the shirt for about 30 years now so I think it's about time people got used to the fact that there's always going to be one there.

As for the back of the shirt. That's only just started to come in, and I don't like it, I don't care whether its DBL Logistics or Apple, I don't want to see a sponsor on the back of the shirt. It just doesn't look right at all. Once that becomes the norm, when do we stop? How about a sleeve sponsor? You could have 2 different ones then? Before you know it our shirts will look like this;

I don't think anyone has a problem with who the sponsor is (do they?) I certainly don't but I don't have a problem with how it is applied. It looks and feels cheap and like a massive after thought, granted I don't buy many football shirts but I do not recall anyone having such a poor implementation of a sponsors logo on the shirt before (except us last season)

To be fair if their cars are like their marketing department I won't be parting with any cash for a motor from Hollands Car Lot - The logo is weak, pale, insignificant and wishy washy spoils the shirt - the one on the back is no better looks like it's been stuck on as an afterthought !
To be fair if you are not busy at 1.14pm on a weekday why not come and have a look at the standard of our cars and compare them with the rare collector's items in your car collection. Please forward your thoughts on what should be our new logo and if it blows our skirt up I'll post on here and pay you handsomely

so if you know for a fact that adidas don't put them on the shirt, who does ? also I just bought the yellow 91-93 away kit from ebay last week, the laver sponsor is not part of the material of the shirt but is stuck on aswell

I don't think anybody is slagging of the actual sponsor John Holland Sales people just aren't keen on a big plastic box on the front of the shirt which ultimately cracks and peels.

Had the sponsorship been in place already, i'm sure that more input from JHS and SUFC would have been available and the logo could have been printed into the shirt.

For what it's worth, i like the design of the JHS logo, if Tony & Mark did that in two minutes then well done to them, it's simple, it's clean, you know what they sell. (I'm not sucking up, i genuinely like simple logos).

Back onto sponsors, the best looking sponsor we've had recently was the Westfield Health logo (text and logo with an outline).

However, i'm not sure that would work on stripes with JHS logo hence the need for a solid box around it. Maybe on a solid front away shirt?!

See, this logo wouldn't work on stripes without making it white with a black outline.

How about someone (the club or anyone) with a heat press?

I nowhere stated ALL laver shirts had the logo as part of the material (which is a process called sublimation), I merely used it as an example and I should have been more specific as to which one, sorry. In fact the thin read and white striped shirt with a black line in the middle (deck chair version shown earlier in this thread) was indeed sold without a sponsor logo on it (I bought one along with one if the yellow away shirts).

I just find it funny when people like yourself make claims or which are untrue, such as the logos won't come off because it's Adidas. You may not have said this but you certainly implied it. For people in the trade (like me) it's just absolute codswallop.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and despite what I have said above, I do respect yours, even if I don't agree with it.

Fair enough. It's just from my experience none of my Adidas prints have Come off. Probably will do if Adidas didn't put them on. Hope nobody has any problems but if they did then Iam sure the shop will swap em. UTB

I have no problem with JHS as a sponsor at all - I think partnerships with local businesses are a good thing.

I do object to the way it has been stuck on the shirt without any consideration to the overall design and appearance.

From a professional designers point of view, the logo does not reflect the fact that the company is selling a high end, premium product and is in danger of being associated with companies at the lower end of the market.

I would be happy to assist you with a re-brand if you wish - you can contact me directly and I will send you a link to my portfolio!

Sheffield design none of this Saatchi and Saatchi expensive stuff for us lads up north!!

Tony "Swiss" Entwistle

Sadly this attitude is one of the reasons the north of england is so far behind the rest of the country. "we're northern, we don't need none o' them fancy logos, weer theres muck thas brass etc etc." The fact the world's most successful companies continue to spend millions on marketing and promotion (even though they all have a logo already) seems to shoot way above some peoples heads.

Designing a logo is very much like making love to a beautiful woman eh Swiss Tony?
You go to work on it for a good couple of minutes then make sure it will sparkle under a floodlight. :)

In general the value of good design is misunderstood and massively under appreciated and like most good quality products, comes at a price.

Worth noting that it seems to vary as the new Real Madrid home shirt has the badge ironed on and not stiched.
adi_real_home_crest.jpg

Give them credit though they did well to give it the appreance of it being stiched on.

Sorry I came across as if I dont like the new sponsor, my bad, truth is I dont know anything about you guys and was more commenting on a tongue in cheek idea to the original poster who wanted it removed.

I wish you all the best, and am glad that we have someone who supports the club and is willing to invest in it.

UTB!

I wasn't gonna but I had to, here's what even the current logo could look like if a little thought was put into it

Eric Gill will be sad you have replaced his typeface, he did like to have sex with his dog though so I suppose it doesn't matter too much :p

If you google 'car dealer logo' you will notice something interesting... Yep, they are all exactly the same!!

A re-brand requires something unlike any other competitor, no more outlines of cars!

Just as a matter of interest, have you ever purchased anything on the strength of liking someones logo?
That's not really the point, the logo is part of a whole brand and yes, I've bought something because I like the brand before.

Much like our very own john holland sales, Why bother buying a range rover sport when you could get just get a kia sportage? Same thing isn't it?
