Did you think I wasn't aware of his injuries in the past? It wouldn't surprise me if you did.

Maybe this sheds a little light on matters......

Adkins, speaking after Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Colchester, said: “I made it plain at the start, right from the beginning, that I wanted six big uns in the team. I want us to be the biggest in the division, I want us to be the fittest and I want us to be the strongest. I want us to be powerful and a threat.”

Kennedy is about 5'10" and I believe he may have fitness issues related to his knees, (not sure on this one though......)

Which was when Barney? What date? Don't worry I won't trawl back through the posts here and on BM to make sure you were there. Honest. Even so, it was so long ago that you wouldn't have a clue what his recent form is.
What date? I don't have a clue. Do you? Nor would anyone I don't think without having to look it up.

It's close enough for me to remember how he played and some of his performances.

He played in the JPT at Hartlepool, had a great game. Won every header.

I think the inference is that when you have a galactico such as TK in your squad, you'd throw out the rest of the footballing world's logic of dependable centre half partnerships, and get him on the field for 60 minutes. That way, he can tare the division a new one, just like has happened on the previous 12 injury interrupted master classes. Wibble.

Unless I am mega wrong........and you as a big Blade will be able to contradict me with fact and statistic, his last game at Bramall Lane was April 2015. Since then he has played two games in the league cup and one other in the league, all away. None of which games you attended. From that evidence you still maintain he is the best?

Yes, having watched his performances and the performances of the current central defenders, the standard of his defending was higher. The facts and statistics back that up as Revolution pointed out earlier in the thread.

So the last time you saw him was April 2015?

The point is this and its quite simple and based upon evidence and not conjecture. Kennedy last played a game that you or I saw last season in a waste of time game against Bradford in April 2015. Since then he has played a few times for the under 21's, been injured as before with his knee problems, had three "nothing games" and been farmed out on loan again. From that history there is no way you can assess that this season he is better than any of the players who presently have the shirt. He had promise. But he has hardly played in the first team. He is injury prone and in that sense unreliable. He is also simply not match fit for the first division. I think Adkins may have got it right on this occasion. Just an opinion. Now if Pittsburgh lose this I am coming round your gaff and ripping your balls off. Good Night.

Sorry to resurrect this one but it would appear that this is the answer to Barney 's question as to why Tel Kennedy isn't being selected. It comes as no surprise to me or to most posters however Barney seems to struggle with it.

Well actually I don't think he does, it's just a vehicle by which he can continue to have a pop at Nigel Adkins. He must have been gutted with the last minute winner by the way!

Having seen his pre-season preparations disrupted by injury and confirmed United plan to cut the size of their squad, Adkins said: “We want players that are robust. Players who can, in normal circumstances, be expected to play 40 or so games a season.”

Indeed. Most would say it's a shame with both Tel and Wallace as they are good players when fit but neither can be relied upon to be fit for selection consistently. Adkins has talked about the need for a settled side and he's not going to get that if he perseveres with those 2. And I think we all know that if he did play them and they kept getting injured, Barney would slag him off for that too.

Yes. I suspect that's the case for many. Are they not allowed opinions either?

When was the last time you saw him?

I know you weren't asking me, but it was at Fleetwood in the JPT for me. He didn't have a very good game, he mistimed a couple of headers and sliced a couple of clearances and my guess is that Adkins wasn't too impressed either. He certainly wouldn't have come away thinking he'd just seen the best defender at the club and decided for perverse reasons, not to play him.

It's not surprising that a Millers fan would want us to start playing a defender who is struggling with injuries.

I was gonna say the same thing, we all know the real reason why he isn't in the team. Its because he's not fit enough and even when he gets fit he picks up another injury. We've all winged at how we have too many injury prone players but then there's fans wanting him to play instead of Collins and Edgar?! You can't have it both ways. Its a shame for Kennedy but time for him to move on and try and play regularly elsewhere.

Collins and Edgar are the best 2 central defenders at the club (possible case for Basham). Yes they are not great and we need better but that is how it is at the moment. Kennedy may be fit to start a game but by the time (if) he finishes it recent history would suggest he would not be fit to start the next one.

Need to let Barney in on a little secret. It's not just his knees that are stopping Adkins picking him. Think McNuts

Ah so he has his jumper over his shoulders and a lollipop in his mouth?

He is out drinking a lot, as sheffielder appears to be alluding to.

I was reading an article in The Guardian the other day, it was on Eddie Jones the new head coach of England Rugby. In it he said something along the lines of

"there are a lot of players all of the same standard over here, which is worrying. because the best players should always rise out of the crop. there's not usually much in it, only 2-3%, but these are the guys who do that extra little bit of analysis, go for a swim on their day off, spend a few hours stretching, never deviate from their diet... I bumped into a man in waitrose the other day whilst I was doing my shopping, we stopped and chatted and then went for a coffee talking all things rugby, but then he had to leave because he had a bag of balls in his car and he was off to go and do some kicking practice. he doesn't even play rugby anymore, he retired a few years ago." He was talking about Jonny Wilkinson, amongst the world's greatest ever players.

Some of our lads would do well to read and take heed of these comments. Guys like Kennedy whose career hangs in the balance, guys like Baxter/Adams with all the ability to play higher up the pyramid.

They'll have been told this so many times but for some, it just doesn't sink in. Some people don't listen and have to learn by their own experiences. Unfortunately football is a hard profession and sometimes the penny doesn't drop until you're playing in the Vanarama or flipping burgers for the clown.

Kennedy cannot play 2 or 3 games a week. I'm sorry, I like the lad, but he's not that good Id be willing to keep him long term.

Another one that can come off the wage bill.

He likes his pop. Hope he doesn't turn to it as a consolation for being crocked - which I am afraid he is. Cannot see a future in football for him sadly.
Maybe he's practising for when he runs a pub?

Terry Kennedy has confirmed on Twitter that he's not been offered a new deal.

Shame for the lad.
