Easy to be unsentimental about a player he never picked even when he was apparently fit.

More interested how his chats go with Flynn, McEveley and Hammond.

Let's hope he can show the same. Even if the latter might break his little heart.

Good luck to him.

He's a very good defender, a proper defender who would've been more than capable of playing in the Championship at least but for injury. Add a bit more height or pace and he could've played in the Premier League.

We should have used him whenever he was fit last season, we would've ended up with more points.

Not really how many games has he played in last 2 years versus how much have we paid him?

Sorry no room for sentiment in this game.

My guess is that compared to some of the others he will have been on peanuts. And of course there is room for sentiment in the game, one of the greatest things about sport is the full range of emotions that you can tie to it.

Tel has had numerous bad injuries to key joints that mean he has not been able to fulfill his potential that he undoubtedly had. He obviously should not get a new deal but, given his effort when he did represent us along with his bad luck with injuries, I don't see the need for a personal dig at him as he goes.

Very poor form.

His attitude when he played was very good and he was competent enough but his knees don't seem to support many games.

He's getting on for 23 and only played 45 minutes league football for us this season.

Inevitable he would move on. Maybe someone will pick him up but he may struggle to get a full contract.

Hopefully Adkins is speeding through his one to ones and not waffling away.

Many more to go yet.

I disagree. I think there is some room for sentiment. Kennedy have been part of the club since he was a boy and has always given 100%. Okay it may be the right decision but there's no call for describing him as a stain.

If there is no room for sentiment in football you may as well support Leicester rather than the blades I just think you gone too far

One of the easiest decisions for the club to make sadly. Would have loved to have seen him be a success with us, but sadly his body won't allow it. He may say he hasn't been given a fair chance this season, but his loan spell at Cambridge was the perfect opportunity to show he was reliably fit enough for what we needed. Unfortunately he wasn't. No doubt someone may offer him an appearance-based deal lower down the divisions – I hope he eventually bounces back.

I was just about in favour of giving McEveley a one year deal until that handball, and until I thought of certain replacements for him (Shaun Williams for one).

Now I'd rather him be released, I'd sooner keep McGahey than him, at least he has a bit of potential.

If it is true about just Long and McEveley being kept though, it's not the worst outcome - it could've been much worse.

As others have said though, McEveley must be no more than back up. But deep down you expect him to play at least 25 games.

Made this point in a thread earlier in the season and got the shit ripped out of me. :)

That's just what happens when a manager's less than 6 months into a job - criticisms just aren't allowed, no matter what.

The stain on the wage bill wasn't aimed at him in particular just the squad in general - can't see that's a personal dig at him.

Someone posted on VIP blades that the following have also been released. Flynn,Howard, cuvelier, Wallace, baxter

Good luck Terry Kennedy, a true grafter, did all the hard work, never neshed a challenge, put his head and body in the way of oncoming football boots to ensure the ball didn't go in.

A proper old-school Blades player.

His injuries let him down but his heart and commitment never did.

The last player that anyone on here should be slagging off.

UTB.

I've just been sent a text saying the only ones who are getting deals are Long and mceverley. Don't shoot the messenger!

I'll be very pleased if that's the case – this was my preferred outcome in March. It would mean the release of Howard, Willis, Harris, McGahey, Flynn, Baxter, JCR, J.Wallace and McFadzean in addition to Kennedy.

Rumours that gone are flynn, Howard, cuvelier, baxter and wallace

I would only like McEveley signed as a squad player next season.
