But, I'll happily say it's the availability (every bar, every shop, you can buy a bottle or a case at my hotel reception) & variety that appeals to me, rather than cost. Now I don't drink eye watering quantities of beer, I like searching things out - interesting brewery, one off beer, great pub. Just that in Reims I swap "Beer Tourism" to "Champagne Tourism"

Henderson probably should have tipped it round the post for the first – I never like keepers opting to avoid giving away a corner by pushing it back into the danger zone.

That's the main area in which Henderson needs to improve imo - when you make a save, make sure it goes safe instead of straight back into the danger area. Conceded last season against Villa (A), Birmingham (A) plus several others that could have led to goals.

Now dry your eyes and put your jizz sock away. Lundstram is a mistake-signing, brought in because Sordell broke Coutts's leg and put a dent in our PL hopes and dreams. And McCabe, bless his cottons, probably smirked when CW went to him and told him we were one-brick thick in Coutts's position and wanted a replacement. We got Lundstrum, bargain basement, from Oxford, for next to nowt. He's done one good thing in the Blades shirt and that involved Grealish. I think that's possibly it. Just like Monty, he looked and sounded a decent player, but on reflection, wasn't. Like Lundstrum, Monty wouldn't get into Wilder's team this season or last. I hope you'll agree.

Thought it looked like a practice game from our point of view, where we'd agreed to defend deep and try to prevent them playing through us or breaking at all.

The good thing: That worked! They did not play through us and we were fairly comfortable defensively most of the time.

The bad thing: We were poor offensively. Our defensive mindset meant we looked half hearted going forward. We were slow, wanted to pass it around for a bit, but found ourselves under constant pressure from the tenacious and very much up for it home team. This lead to long punts forward to the isolated McGoldrick and Robinson, who struggled to hold it up. Henderson had to waste time for his goal kicks. Our goal may have added to this, a nice bonus, while we practiced our containing style we were actually winning, so there was little reason to bomb forward.

Then they scored three goals. Following a needless free kick; a long punt in behind; and a cross that bounced in. In isolation the goals weren't due to our midfield tactics not working, nor the containing style we seemed to practice, nor Lundstram. The fact that the opposition found other ways to score is a concern though, and I'll add that they very much threatened from corners.

After 65 minutes, we changed formation. Basham went into midfield and we played a diamond spearheaded by a lively Luke Freeman. At the same time the attacking restraints seemed to be removed, and we began to compete better and push more players forward. I think we did well in the last 25 minutes and created some chances.

Did Wilder learn a lot? While the main strategy (coping with the main threats of our next opponents) looked to be partly successful, we still conceded three goals and generally looked a bit out of sorts. Ideally we would have played better football, but is it a good idea to scrap the main plan for the opener at this late stage? I'm sure our mentality will be different on Saturday, and maybe that'll help? We did look better after we made changes, but we don't know if it would have been similar had we played that way from the start. And besides, that was plan B or C, not something we're looking to play from the start.

Goals 1 and 3 are worrisome as Hendo misplayed them badly. I hope he has the ability to step up. I have a feeling we will be relying on him to win/draw us a few.

I think in a proper match, a defender would chuck themselves in for the free kick, he'd come out for the one on one, but no-one wanted to get clattered/ land awkwardly a week before the season.

The other was just miscommunication. He seemed to look at McBurnie but I don't know what he was expecting to be honest.

Room for improvement there.

He took a whack at Matlock, but I don't think it's serious.

He's general just behind on his fitness, Wilder said the transfer was a bit of a faff and he wasn't really involved with Bournemouth while it was ongoing.

I did, don’t get me wrong they played well. Perhaps a bit of hyperbole on my part, but the lads just picked up man of the match. It was no fluke that last week every play picked out on the tv came from him and it will be no fluke he’ll get his plaudits this week. He fits the more defensive system perfectly.
