I should probably pay more attention to the Laws of the Game, but does it say “no matter whatever the circumstances, if the ball hits a defenders arm then the referee must, dramatically, point to the spot”?

Ball to hand and a ref didn't give a pen for the same thing in the PL the other week.

I made my mind up a while ago that we are playing against 12 men even in the Championship.

It happened yesterday in the Brighton match. Not given. Ruled by VAR to be ball to hand and arm going down to ground to support the body, so natural position. If Egan's hand is doing the same (it looked like that to me at the time) then the same decision should have been made. They muffed it though, so no real harm done.

What really pigged me off were the two handed blocks they kept doing on our players!

Money = Better outcomes

Honestly, I didn't have an issue with the penalty. Egan knew as soon as it happened because he smacked the turf with his hand even before the ref signalled.

The rest was shocking though!

Cheating bastard in city's back pocket all game. Probably salty that he can't use sandpaper to help city even more. He needs investigating for match fixing. So utterly and completely biased it was a joke. Bent bastard.

While I agree with you that he was shit, you might want to think about how fixing a match between the best team in the world and (checks notes) Sheffield United could ever result in a seriously profitable situation for anyone. Hyperbole doesn't help anyone

I thought the whole point of VAR was to cut out referee errors. If we still have the human making the var decision it should be scrapped.

VAR makes no sense at all.

VAR is only deployed in certain circumstances. What did it miss?

Anyone who has seen the game today now knows that top level football is corrupt. You either accept that, or you’re kidding yourself. I don’t blame people who fall into the latter category, life is about perception and sometimes turning a blind eye to certain things is the best way to keep yourself on an even keel.
I am not sure weather it's currupt even though it has crossed my mind at times (Steve Gerrard incident West Ham, Villa non goal) I think its the fact refs are so easily influenced by the power of the big clubs and what sway they have in running the game. Also I think there is room for improvement with their training .Every now and again you come across a ref who gets it right and both teams are happy with the job they do but these are few and far between .The best ref I have seen in the last year reffed the womans international at the Lane .You never noticed them .

You have described corruption.

Not just this match and I understand it is for certain circumstances but it is obviously not working. They may as-well have sky sports doing it.

A lack of consistency is undermining refereeing also grey areas exist regarding rules . Unnatural positions of a players hands when awarding penalties is such a case. Egan today had a penalty awarded against him ,the ball hit is hand as he was falling to the ground and it was deemed his hands were in a unnatural place but when you are falling its natural to put your hand down to break your fall . Its as natural as blinking but yesterday the same thing happened and no penalty was awarded it was deemed as natural . Such things wind fans up .

That might be why the ref gave it

I sometimes grumble about referees, but I rarely boo them.

I booed that prick today.

Granted its a match we were never likely to win, but it doesn't help when you're playing 12. Every challenge on them was instantly blown for, often followed by a yellow card. He gave us nothing, despite numerous pushes, slaps and prods.

The amount of protection Haaland gets is unreal.

Ref today was a disgrace, but we better get used to it, the EPL isn't about sport, it's about money, and maintaining the status quo.

This is spot on

Anyone know what the rule is with medical incidents?

The referee kept looking over to the stand but didn't stop play even though it was obvious something was going on.

On the John Street stand?

Does anyone know what was happening? Hoping the person is ok
