We need some decent refs in the window .They have given us some shockers lately they find similar quality at a local park and they work for free.

You can usually tell who the refs are on here or people who know refs, they all tend to stick together, that was a shocking performance and even Rob Earnshaw couldn’t believe some of the decisions against us.

And don't even get me started on the drop ball debacle. What the fuck was going on in his head there?
The drop ball incident was the most baffling one. We had the ball and it hits the ref, who then decides to give the ball to West Brom.

The West Brom player passed the ball into the referee.

At the point the ball hits the referee the game stops and possession is returned to the team who touched the ball last.

So the ref got that one right.

Has anyone got any footage of the drop ball incident please?

Everyone around us was going mental, but I thought he’d blocked a West Brom ball and was more pissed off at him getting in the way than the fact he gave it them as he was supposed to.

Yep, he was an idiot for getting in the way but he got the decision correct.

The pass from the West Brom player wasn't going to anyone which made it even more frustrating because we could have regained possession.

The ball was going to no one, as you say. If anyone, most likely us, but you can’t know for sure. Was it the correct decision to give the ball back to WBA? Because they touched it last? Genuinely don’t know and not sure of the law.

As I understand it, yes.

The ball hitting the referee didn't even used to require a stoppage because they were considered part of the field of play.

For years they then started doing contested dropped-balls.

Now it's the rule that you just give the ball back to the team who had it last.

They got rid of the contested dropped-balls because they were too dangerous.

I'm sure we all remember the days when the ref would have to quickly scarper as two players proceeded to kick the shit out of each other over the loose ball.

I think people are being a little harsh on the ref. Conditions were dire. Yes, he makes a few errors but I don't think he was particularly a homer. Take the Brewster one for example. It looked like he tripped over his own feet and yet the players and fans going mad at the ref. It's not helped by some of our players (Rak-Saki, Brewster) looking for the deck.
I thought there were several dodgy decisions but I don't think the conditions helped. I suspect conditions were worse in reality than they appeared on TV.

He did but I thought I saw him point in our direction after he'd blown the whistle

The most ridiculous decision I’ve ever seen from a referee. He stopped the game to go and move a multi ball sat on a cone about 2 feet for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Utterly baffling and pathetic

Should have played 11 v 10 for 60 minutes with Cullen inexplicably not sent off.

Second goal should have been a foul on O’Hare for which we gained no advantage and then the fluky free kick that went straight back to him after he’d botched the shot got a wicked deflection and despite this, totally ignored their player stood on the six yard line a mile off.

We were crap. But should have had a man advantage for an hour and their second never should have been.

Hamer won the ball for the one for which he got a yellow.

It will sound like sour grapes because we were crap, but the ref cost us the game with not applying the laws when he should have done.

We weren't 'crap'. But the ref was .

I didn’t think the ref was great but we were rightfully beaten & I don’t think him being poor was the reason we lost. They were the better team, I don’t agree with Wilders comments that it was an even game.

They always looked comfortable when we were attacking where as they switched play quickly and always won the second ball.

He was absolutely crap today.

Burnley like to rough it up, but then fall down like fannies at the first opportunity when it suits them, and he fell for it every time.

Their 2nd goal also came about because of his incompetence.

He was literally the reason for their second goal.
