No headlines, lads. We're in a two-week mourning period and can only wear black (or blue, of course)

You'll still be selling second hand washing machines and pot plants though?

Same as RS yesterday with their exaggerated shit stirring.

Missus dropped me off at end of Leppings Lane and they had gone live to outside the away end with this reporter going on about police horses separating fans throwing bottles at each other.

Expected to walk into a ruck 2 mins later but instead walked into a very tame atmosphere actually.

Mate who had been stood there a while said he'd seen no bollocks at all.

Fuck the Star, I can't wait for Football Heaven tonight (probably cut down to ten minutes as Northern Soul is deemed more important).

Hello? It's Mick the Rawmarsh pig here. I've not rang in to talk about United, but I thought they were very lucky yesterday.

Quite, Mick. Wibble, Wibble my old man's a dustman. Next up is Brian. Brian?

Aah joost want to thank Mister Wilder for taking my advice about David Brooks. Aaah've watched him since he was an embryo and KNEW he'd be a good 'un.

Thanks for that, Brian. Now we must go over to Jam Dodgers as we haven't heard about the traffic at Brook Hill Roundabout for ten minutes..

Come on, a few paragraphs about trouble marring the day in a column about various stuff is hardly the crime of the century.
Bit of a snowflake response.

On a serious note, I wonder if anyone has asked SYP for a comment on their policing yesterday, especially 1) why fans were held back until just before kick off and 2) after publicly stating they could not legally hold fans back in the stadium, they did so. Is the law different for us or at S6?

Seeing as twitter and Facebook are looked on as legitimate news sources judging by the number of times The Star uses them, has anyone shown any interest inUnited fans comment about being held back? If not, why? Has it even been considered when reporting the police believing they'd done a good job overall, something that the officers around the fans certainly didn't seem to agree with.

Good points mate.......on a personal note, I couldn't get to the game (massive regret!) but naturally I followed events and loved every second. True drama and the best side easily won. After the game (I live on Shoreham St) me and my partner decided to shop at Waitrose, so we drove to the junction of London Road where there was a sizeable police presence, waited as there had been some type of disturbance, and then continued....the real question then happens as we return home. London Road was packed with mostly Blade's fans filling the road, many drinking as if it was going out of fashion and enjoying themselves, understandably so....what I hate though is when fans like this feel that it's ok to intimidate the passengers in cars simply because they can. The police by this time were scarce to non-existent, yet the number of people filling the road, acting as if they might kick off at a moment's notice was deplorable. It was ugly, and I believe there is footage to be found that shows some of this trouble in all it's mindlessness. I'm a Blade, always will be, but this side of the game (it'll always exist sadly) is something I'll never get used to. By all means celebrate, today was special and then some......but threatening cars and their passengers??!!??

Both clubs have their idiots, and ours are no exception to the rule that when alcohol driven men are in a group, where football's concerned, they can often act like mindless, irresponsible cunts. Sorry to add a negative note to what had been a fantastic day, but there's nothing smart, intelligent, or attractive about this noxious behaviour.

It's the headline piece of the column and it undoubtedly is disparaging to United and our win yesterday as I pointed out in the OP.

All this from a columnist who wrote a similar ill thought piece earlier this year.

Crime of the century? No of course not - but a piece worthy ofcrtique, ridicule and derision - absolutely.

I'd place some commiserations in The Star but it costs a fucking fortune. I'm not buying you and Shieldsy's Custard Creams for you, you can bollocks :)

"Star finally admits existence of football bias in Sheffield. Profound apologies to all Blades fans"

That'd be a good one.

So would the fake moon landings and 9/11 inside job. Other examples of conspiracy theories with no basis in real life

It's actually the below.

(OK, Brooks gets about a quarter of the front page....).

Otters in the Don is worthy of Partridge.

Do you think that would have been the headline of the score was reversed? Maybe, maybe not.

You must have put me on ignore for a few moments again Danny. After you schooled me on how to get your username up I used it in a post about how you didn't seem to commenting on United fans thoughts on policing while using other quotes from twitter.

You'd have got a notification, just like you will with this. But I'm sure you know this :)

Otters in the Don. Newspaper of the year ,that will keep the sales up. Did we make the back page ?

You can try and be as smart as you like. You know exactly what my point is and l can't see where Blades fans comments are reported in your rag.

Seen this though. Banner? It looks like a blanket and crayons.

Sheffield Wednesday fans unfurl huge banner on railway bridge as rivalry intensifies ahead of Steel City derby The banner was unfurled from a railway bridge near Hillsborough Stadium (photo: @KetchupInMyHair, via Twitter) ROBERT CUMBER Email Published: 11:56 Sunday 24 September 2017 2 HAVE YOUR SAY Sheffield Wednesday fans today unfurled a huge banner on a railway bridge ahead of the Steel City derby. The banner was draped from a bridge near the junction of Fox Hill Road and Halifax Road, a short walk from Hillsborough Stadium. "Older, Bigger, Better. Since 1867. This city is ours," it declares. The Owls are hosting Sheffield United in what will be the first Steel City derby for five years, with the match due to kick off at 1.15pm. You can follow The Star's coverage here.

Yesterday was as near perfect as it gets if you're a Blade, with a couple of downsides I am so far aware of - the police preventing Blades fans getting in on time (see ST and others), and London Road (post 74). Both appear worth investigating. But the football was conclusive - we won, we deserved to win, just about everybody, including most Wednesdayites know we deserved it, we have just beaten an expensive team who have been in the play-offs last 2 years. For the last 10 years we have had so much to complain about, but for now let's celebrate, and not look for conspiracies where none exist.
I have read the Star for a few years now (the paper version - I have no wish to persuade anyone to follow suit), and I do not believe that there is currently any anti-Blades bias. I read all the items today with a smile on my face. 'King David's Day' (1); Wilder (most of the back page); match report by the Wednesday reporter - 'It was a wonderful spectacle and United were convincing winners'. Wednesday's star player was rated below United's lowest rated player. Report by James Shield - mocked all the pub-league taunts. Report by Sport Deputy Editor - 'Incisive, intelligent and composed, United were excellent and everything their bitter rivals were not.' There is much, much more, and it is hard to find a crumb of comfort for the other lot. Let's enjoy it - they have been humiliated, many of them recognise this and now is the time to make fun of them. We don't have to fight non-existent demons - that only suggests insecurity.
And the item on policing is very bland, has nothing to say about 'incidents', and reports police comments that both clubs have 100+ troublesome followers.

"Otters in the Don" is up there with "War of the Monster Trucks"...
