I couldn't give a shit if he does TBH.

If he had more than a passable half season I'd be concerned. But whatever money we dream we will generate from him (and it won't be above £18m, I tell you now) we can start rebuilding that frankly gash midfield everyone says will be world beating next season. Ramsdale will always be capable of fucking things up.

That is where our problems are.

At the start of the season the main target was staying in the PL & every £ should've been spent to maximise our chances of doing that, and addressing problem areas of the team. We over spent in the GK position. For the first half of the season the GK was poor, for the next quarter of the season adequate and for the final quarter of the season excellent.

We are now in the Championship, the GK is in the England squad, and is now unlikely to be with us next season. Saying that, I am pleased for him on a personal level.

Classic case of writing him off too early. Hopefully he can be our keeper for a fair few years. I miss the days of us having a long term quality number 1. Tracey, Kelly, Paddy the big 3 we've had recently Rammers could be similar if we can keep hold of him this summer which I think we will.
 
Southgate could cap him for the last 5 minutes against one of the banjo and barndoor minnows - Friday here we come....

No keeper would have looked good with that car crash infront of him. We weren't winning headers at all once JOC was done for, his level of protection was nil.

In hindsight we could argue had we bought say Ben Foster or Tim Krul and spend the £20m elsewhere we'd have been better off, but more likely Wilder would've just signed another striker rather than addressing our creativity issues which he was blind to.

Ramsdale wasn't the issue. Brewster was.
That's not writing him off, but he was the wrong type of player, at the wrong time.

Deserved recognition of a very good season, but I’d selfishly rather our players were resting up and not training for an extra month over the summer. OK, an extra week and a half.
 
From seeing him come in to the squad his confidence seems to have boosted massively. Whether it was trying to fill the hole left from Hendo who was clearly loved by the club or Judy nerves of coming to a new place.

Fair play to him, just having the call up will boost his confidence no end and we will likely see the benefits next season. Be nice for him to get some game time!

Well, that and the dropped crosses, flapping at mid air and dives about four seconds after the ball screeched past him.

Y'know, I'll make no apology for my assessment of Ramsdale, here and now. His predecessor gained us (easily) nine points in our successful first season yet he can with massive expectation and a pricetag unworthy of a relegated club and within two minutes of the opening game is floundering at a ball he could have got to. The Villa away game, the Leeds at home game, the Man U at home game all saw attempts on goal one would expect a club record goalkeeping signing to reach, regardless of the shit central defence array in front of him. I'm okay he improved, but by the time he had we were relegated so we might as well have put Moore or Verrips in the net for all it was worth. And by 'improved', no way was it a 'Player of the Season' improvement as some will have it. He fucking owed us those saves and if anything, was doing what was expected.

Good luck to him now in the squad and if he plays I hope we see some of what he eventually showed us he can do. But he took his fucking time about it and made some unforgivable fuck ups early doors, some which people on here are conveniently overlooking.

If we were going to have any player involved though probably best it being a keeper as he won’t have anywhere near the miles in the legs that the outfield player have. So long as he stays fit it’s great for the club having a current England international. Plus he’s another academy graduate to receive a call up great for us all round.

You normally have exaggerated viewpoints but I pretty much agree with that. I was also concerned about Ramsdales displays. I still think he was at fault for some of the goals early season.

However I wasn’t too harsh on Ramsdale and was willing to give him time because he was new to a team shot of confidence and he was still very young learning his trade.

Fortunately his form improved after Xmas and he now looks a decent keeper. Still don’t rate him as fantastic BUT it’s important to realise he’s still so young and is very likely to improve.

In 5 to 10 years he could be one of the best keepers in the PL. Think that’s the reason we bought Ramsdale, Brewster and McBurnie, all young players with potential and likely to improve protecting the investment costs,

I seem to remember Henderson making some real fuck ups in his first season with us, actually he was still making fuck ups when he went back to Man U like the goal he presented to us at the lane last season.
