This mornings sports bulletin leads with Liverpool and Chelsea fair enough and then on to local news. Wendy didn't sign Cook......thats it ,no mention of Bartley ,Collins or Sheff Utd at all. Lens 10 years has come early we don't exist.
At least we can have another 20 minute interview with Irvine or 15 minute phone call to Mandaric to look forward to ,biased ? surely not.

another interview with MandyPig last gnight as well...on about twice a week at the moment. Getting as much exposure as Strappon.

To be fair Pig Walker did mention it on the 7.30 bulletin but only after Liverpool, Chelsea, Wendy and an interview with Irvine. The news about Bartley was almost a throwaway line the way it was delivered. The fact the pigs DIDN'T sign someone shouldn't come before us signing Collins, or worse, losing Bartley.

Same on the Stars internet site , no mention of Blades on front page , it will soon be fill the sty for a fiver wankfest time , over on R/S with M/Ms groveling getting free advertising slots Daily .;

One club's in the 5th round of the cup, the manager's job is under threat, the chairman's just taken over and cleared the debt, it's buying lots of players and has a chance of going up.
The other has just shuffled its defence by bringing yet another Leeds reject and has probably had a turnover of about 60 or 70 players over the last season and a half.
There comes a point when another loaning coming or going or another pointless, nomark signing is simply not news anymore.

Radio Sheffield is generally crap but do we really think that McCabe has been busting a gut to get interviewed on there so he can keep the fans informed and drum up season ticket sales etc?

I suspect our neighbours have been far more accessible to reporters and media friendly over the last couple of years and hence they get far more exposure.

Fair play to them. Whatever you think of their chairmen recently they seem to care enough to want to do something about their club's plight. They might not always get it right but you can't fault their effort.

Good point, why would Walker want to talk to someone who has a history of being very economical with the truth when speaking to him and treating him like an idiot - when McCabe had actuallya greed to go on air and talk about Beattie.

I don't mind the club giving reporters a hard time if the questions are poor and pointless but what do they get out of Birch and McCabe - absolutely nowt. SUFC - dull, boring, laughing stock football club and as Len says beyond the point of being newsworthy.

I am shocked at this post!

if the news is dull, boring, or dam right pointless, the local media should report it on an impartial basis....

This radio station does not!

Sheffield United sign and lose a first team centre half. Sheff wendy don't sign a reserve left winger. Which should be reported ?
Impartial my arse.

And the manager's job being under threat is a big positivew because it's them not us, wahey! Have they really bought lots of players, as in transfer fees paid? Like who?

I thought they'd brought about six players in?
Either way, who really gives a flying about signing a player from Leeds reserves.
Radio Sheffield probably feel embarrassed for us and are trying to keep it quiet.

We've brought 8 in ;)

How To End A Conversation With len, Lesson 1:- Ask for a fact to support one of his wild, flailing accusations and watch the certainty evaporate before your eyes.......

They brought somebody in from Carlisle.......and Plymouth....... and a recently arrested and out on bail loanee from Villa, imagine how apoplectic you'd be if we'd done that?

It must be agony being you len, the only one who sees what's wrong, the only one who cares and even worse, sees what's happening in S6 through blue and white tinted specs. If you're at the point of giving up, we're really in the clarts.

Trig, it may have escaped your notice but thousands of fans have either given up or are on the verge of giving up.
There is a mood of optimism at S6 because they've got their finances sorted out.
They also have a chairman prepared to speak about his plans, what they're doing and so on.
We have a chairman who ran away and a chief executive who rarely comments on anything.
It's not rocket science why they're on the radio more.

That mood of optimism has been somewhat impaired by losing 0-4 at Leyton Orient and 1-5 at Exeter. They're not optimistic, the main focus is getting rid of Irvine.

Aye but it's only a matter of time before they get it sorted, Irvine's just a temporary problem and he may well get them up anyway.

Do you mean here or Hillsborough? Crowds of 16,000 there and Sgt Wilko has given up the ghost already. The mood there isn't optimism as the team are even worse than us, it's relieved that they still exist.

Ever considered being optimistic regards SUFC?

Coily, I fear for our future.
We have an owner watching the club slide into obscurity, fans, many of whom are long-term, saying enough, and I see no sign of any leadership or any indication of what we're trying to achieve as a club.
The warning signs are writ large and as many on here are fond of saying, we're just a business.
The businessmen running our club can do what they like with it ultimately and they're acting with such lack of due care and attention you really wonder where we might end up.

Len, I am concerned also but to my mind the damage has been done. We've overstretched post-relegation and failed miserably, now the business plan seems to forego on-pitch success for book balancing in the hope that makes the club more marketable for sale. Not that I mind the principle of living within our means per se, but as you, I and my soon to be 2 year old son can see, we're in a bit of a pickle in 21st place. Whether opening the purse to sign Collins will be enough to save us from the drop we'll have to see, but the (brief) days of buying to achieve a goal have gone.

Len, they are dropping down the table like a stone. Have you spoken to any of their fans lately??

Come on, they either go up this year or next.
They should have done it this year and may well still do so but it's only a matter of time.
You don't really think their fans can't see significant light at the end of the tunnel?

Only if they've used luminous paint this time.

So everythings fantastic at Swillsboro ,everythings wank at the Lane.

Even if we were £100 million in debt sharing a ground with Arbourthorne EA and Bill Gates had invested in the new champions of Europe Sheffield Wendy ,I would still never admit it ,never mind revel in it. oink.

Then suggest a merger oink oink.

Let's hope you have the choice in future Sitwell.
Mebbes it'll end up being a new club, something like FC United of Sheffield, if the current one disappears.
Might not be a bad thing and would certainly be something we're more likely to connect with than the current sack of bollocks.

len, it doesn't excuse anything, but this isn't the worst position we've been in s you make it sound. Port Vale at home in 1999 was by far the most depressed I've ever felt about the club, eclipsing even relegation to Division 4.

After both of those events, we made it back to the top league, and even with declining attendances, we're still at least 50% up on crowds in 1999. Circumstances are different now, but I have no reason to believe it won't happen again.

It would take somebody with vision to set up an FC United of Sheffield, the current club don't need to go out of existence first, Man U didn't, it was the principle of claiming back the club that counted. Maybe this is your moment, your chance to run things the way they should be run? If you build it, they will come, Mic, Olle, pinchy.....

Thought not.

Keep up the good work anyway.
