Fans leaving the ground with more than 10 minutes left? Why??

I agree generally Silent Blade, but I think a lot of the early leavers were reacting to the nature of the goal.

I said real time it wasn't offside, however, I'd be lying if I said I watched the game with anything like the usual concentration or feeling after that clusterfuck.

The arsing about is killing the game.

VAR mate. Like Wilder said, it's killing us. I absolutely hate it. I didn't leave early btw, but can understand why some had just had enough. It really is killing the game for the match attending supporters.

My best mate left two minutes after their second goal went in.

Can't blame him.

Don’t think it was just the goal. There were a few instances in the game where the ref was just being a complete fuck nugget.

Like the Egan and Carroll clash of heads. Loose ball after a 50/50 and somehow Newcastle get it back. It was a frustrating night before that second goal.

Honestly felt like the league one days tonight. Not in the way we played but just the absolutely twattery of the officials but the opposite putting every man and his dog behind the ball.

I can’t remember a goal having quite the impact on me. Not just deflated, just...different. In the aftermath I’ll concede the goal was technically correct, but we’re all paying the price for getting things technically right. Almost as if the beauty of the game was in its idiosyncratic imperfections

The lack of booking for Shelvey for the foul on Norwood and the allowance of time wasting early was a sign of things to come.

Funny how they jump straight on it as soon as we take the lead even if we’re not time wasting.

I get that we do the same when we’re winning and so does every club but I never ever see this side feign an injury to waste time. It was happening in the first half tonight. I get we take a bit longer to get the ball back in play but fucking hell they took the piss.

Premier League won’t be happy until we’re back in the Championship.

It’s a game of instinct, reactions and split-seconds. If a linesman flags, the ref needs to understand that players will automatically react. If the Lino shouldn’t have flagged, then dish out the repository bollocking after the fact, but stop the fucking game. If they suddenly made traffic lights the opposite way round, a leaflet through my door and a 2 hour workshop isn’t going to overwrite 20 years of driving habits, and stop me accelerating into oncoming traffic when the light goes green, but really it’s red.

Probably feeling depressed after the defeat, like I always am. But the nature of the second goal, “technically” right or not, has also had a significant impact. Like a test of my loyalty as I found myself thinking of those tickets in the kitchen for the Villa and Watford games.. can’t deny having a feeling of whether I could be bothered if the games get decided like this from here on.

Can’t blame the Newcastle fans for celebrating, they don’t get the chance very often, but it’s just killing the spirit of the game and seriously damaging my enjoyment of it.

Then when players do play to the whistle there is a penalty check like what happened to Hendo on Sunday.

I was in favour of VAR if it was implemented more like it was in the World Cup but as always the PL want to do it a bit differently.

I’ve always been against it from the first time I saw it live in a game in Warsaw. It ruined the game there and I see nothing that makes me think it can ever be a good thing for fans in the ground.

In 30 odd years of going to game, I have never seen a time where folk don't start filtering out at 80 mins.

-Beat the traffic
-Need to catch a bus/train
-Get a sneaky couple of pints before the rush
-Result sewn up
-Never going to score here
-Shit game
-etc etc

That 2nd goal was just stupid though, on every level. I have never left a game early but I wouldn't blame anyone for losing interest at that point.

Who'd have thought of teams parking the bus in the premier league against us tho 🤔
Just goes to show that they're shit scared of Wilders Mighty blades.

I was expecting most the ground to empty after the second. There is no hope with officiating like that from Atwell and those linesmen.

Had we got a goal back he would have probably gone to VAR to rule it out for something trivial. The tone for the match was set early on.

I actually think it’s quite telling that tonight is the first time I’ve ever left the ground early. Not at 4-0 down v Scunthorpe, not at 4-1 down v Shrewsbury, not at 3-0 down v Flewtwood, not at 3-0 down v Southend.

Tonight was the only game I’ve sat there and gone ‘nah fuck it I’ve had enough’. Tonight I’ve sat and watched a team play as though they are a league one side hoofing the ball to the big twat up front and look to get a goal. I’ve seen a team time waste at 0-0 and continue to feign injury and watch the referee not do a damn thing about it.

Then after all that and the countless fucking guesswork of the referee, they make a total fucking cock up of epic proportions. I’ve watched officials blatantly go against the instruction that we’ve all been told they’ve been given. They didn’t have the first clue how to deal with the game tonight. They’ve made it up as they’ve gone along. I physically could not watch a single second more of that mess of a game.

This is the Premier League for fucks sake. Supposedly the best league in the world and it’s completely broken.
