Seems to be a lot of Quinn bashing going on at the moment and we're only 2 games into the season...

Personally I don't rate him and i'd like to see Howard played with someone else to see if this improves Howards game. But until Blackie realises that Quinny needs time out and to earn his place the bashing will continue.

The problem is that Quinny isn't good enough or is severely out of form (has been for 3 seasons in my opinion)... BUT we don't have a fit replacement!!!

So looks like we're stuck with his p poor performances until he either sorts himself out or Blackie finds someone else.

He's a young lad and Booing him or cheering him getting subbed will do nothing for his confidence

Yeah, you right it might not do his confidence any good but it may let our useless manager realise that he should not the first name on the bluddy team sheet every week!!!

It sounds a bit harsh on John Gannon to be honest!

Agreed. I remember Gannon as being a better player than Quinn.

The only thing I'd disagree about with Swiss Blade is that he's only a young lad. He's 23 now. I think some folks call him Elpiton for a reason

I think he is an enigma more than anything.

When he first broke through to the first team, and during the first 7 or 8 months of Blackwells reign he looked to have it in him to be a good player, but sadly since he has dropped off to such an extent that he needs a lengthy stint away from the first team to reflect on his loss of form

Absolutely he does. And we can play Howard and Monty in the middle, if needs be - regardless of what people say about Howard going missing sometimes, his form is nowhere near as bad as young Quinn's.

Makes me wonder exactly which of Warnock's alleged management techniques Blackwell picked up... (taps nose knowingly)

Quinn unfortunately hasnt developed into the player, that when he broke onto the scene, we all thought he could be. He struggles to get to grips with the game and gives the ball away far too much but what frustrates me is a lot of fans seem to think that two wrongs make a right on this subject ie. as Quinny has been poor Howard & Hendrie are automatically the saviours who will light the touch paper in that position. Lets face facts.... I could count on one hand the amount of decent games Howard has had for the club & Hendrie has done absoultely nothing for one reason or another & we should have got shut in the summer.... We need a new player to partner Monty in the centre mid as far as Im concerned!

Howard was missing for large portions of the game yesterday because Quinn has a tendency to chase down every single ball, regardless of whether it's in his zone or not. If I were Howard I'd do the same, as there's no point in two of you going for it, and Quinny's already started tearing towards the ball like it's magnetic.

Perhaps this is why he's getting injured. Someone - perhaps someone in the coaching or management team - should tell him to stop running around like a blue-arsed fly, wasting energy, and to stick to a position and formation. If he doesn't, he's of little or no use to the team.

I agree Matt. He can be a good player, when he's not wasting his energy chasing pointless balls, and closing men down that he doesn't need to be closing down. He should be saving his energy so that when he gets the ball, he is able to have a good first touch, and produce a decent end product. He's unable to do this if he's absolutely shattered, which is the case most of the time.

Howard does do the right thing as a midfielder - sit in his position, and only close the men down that he needs to close down. He may 'go missing' in quite a few games, but it's hard when he's playing against two central midfielders. He's always going to 'go missing' in a 2v1 situation, as are most other footballers.

I'd stick Little in the middle with Monty. Little may be a bit older and not the quickest but he's clever on the ball and doesn't rush anything. The way Quinny and Howard has been playing it's worth a shot.

Quinn will be on a very nice salary at the lane after somehow getting a new deal. Therefore, if he is unable to pass it 5 or yards or falls over the ball we are well entitled to give him some stick. He is robbing a living at the moment and we are contributing towards his big wage!

Agree.

He also needs to learn how to use his right foot.

Foxy last night said they should charge him a tenner in training everytime he uses his left foot just to get him using it! He'd definately use it more then.

I don't think I have seen a more one footed player in the championship than Quinn. Some keepers are better with their weaker foot than Quinn

Bobby Ford!! Fuck, he was shite!! Quinny not a lot better! He's more like Bruno Ribeiro!!!

Bobby Ford and Nicky Marker were a very good partnership for a while. Then went really bad.

Oh Bobby Ford! My favourite memory of him was during Dane Whitehouse's testimonial and a very drunk guy singing his praises for most of the game...Oh Bobby Ford, Bobby Bobby Ford!

Personally I would put Hendrie into that spot as soon as his suspension is up! He can play football and has vision - His temper is his biggest downfall but given a chance - who knows!!

Totally. His attitude has improved alot! He's not a winger despite how often blackwell plays him there.

Good to have some backing - This guy played for England and cannot get into the side because Blackwell either doesn't like him or can't control him. He also is probably the most passionate guy on the field when he plays ( or when he's warming up as a sub) Winning means everything to Lee Hendrie

I think Quinn's problems must be due to him taking footballing advice from his big brother since moving into the middle.

Stop It Stephen, you're a better player than him and there's more to being a central midfielder than just kicking the ball and then chasing it.

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

The worrying thing about the midfield situation (and it's not exactly a new worry) is that dropping Quinn doesn't change much. A middle two of, say, Monty and Howard is no better really IMHO.

With Williamson out we don't have much choice it's Monty plus one of Quinn or Howard. Not exactly awe-inspiring either way.

A fit Williamson wouldn't really offer any greater variety given he's of about the same standard as our other midfielders (so much for quality over quantity).

There's Hendrie of course but even if he wasn't suspended KB likely wouldn't select him and he's hardly set the world alight when he has had opportunities.

He only broke into the first team 3 seasons ago?? Premiership season. And he was good in the premiership because he's got more time on the ball

i think QUINN was shite for last 2 games, and all the season's before that!!!
he's to weak, loses the ball to often, make the wrong Discussions, don't look Comfortable when on the ball. not creative, to small to win headers. He may battle but does not win them. (come on we have better people to play in centre then that!!!)
SO YH we need a new Partnership with monty.
And do you know why he keeps getting played because he blackwell bum buddy!!!
soz, about the last bit but come on he always get played when we have players like hendrie, howard, ect......
