I think individuals and teams can raise their game for the big stage. In this case Villa Park.

The loss a lowly Notts. County is such a come down after the week before. I can appreciate the thought that this was likely to happen. In fact, I am sure NC mentioned the psycholgy of this situation in his pre match comments.

Still I don't like it. We should be more professional. The win at Villa should have been a massive boost to go on a long winning run.

I keep thinking we are going to find mid table security, but it is not proving easy and we are still too close to the relegation zone for comfort.

I think its more a case of

'Get out there lads and enjoy yourselves, you've nowt to lose.

Get beat 3-0 and no one will complain, they are expecting you to lose 4-0'.

League games we're playing to a 'game plan' that seems to be 'don't concede'.
That's the bollocks we're having to put up with; sod the opposition, get out there lads and score some goals.

Mr Clough your predecessors suffered from this and look at where it gone them and the club.

At the moment we are inconsistent (a vast improvement on the Weir days). We can be very good or we can be absolutely awful and anything in between. When we win I refuse to get carried away and think we're bound to make the play offs. Similarly I won't get carried away and think relegation when we lose. If we do either consistently than I might but until then lets just lighten up a bit and be thankful that Weir not down already.

How about getting behind the club / manager / team for once - who knows it might just work.

It's not worked for the 7 last years

I'm not knocking on this occasion as NC is doing a good job and I think will keep us up

It's not worked for the 7 last years

Whilst I'm not really joining the debate, it's not really happened other than fleetingly in the last 7 years :)

What happens for many is a game by game is a swing of extreme emotions meaning we're either brilliant and cured of any problems we had or we're worse than ever and doomed.
