So we have lost again today. It's a marathon not a sprint.

It was almost inevitable that we would loose today after last weeks good result.

It's what supporting Sheffield United is all about.

How about getting behind the club / manager / team for once - who knows it might just work.

Everyone has a bad day at the office / home so dust ourselves off and pick ourselves up to go again.

Why was it inevitable that we would lose today? Not a knocker as I still don't think we will be relegated, but why inevitable we would lose? I don't get your logic

I agree, I've just looked at the next 6-7 league games and Bradford and Peterborough aside they're all lowly placed teams and many at home. We need to pull clear with these games.
Also we know Clough is trying to buy right players like Judge but what can we do when he opts for table topping Brentford rather than us.

In our position it must be extremely hard to get players to sign for us.

Almost everyone to a man is behind the manager. Almost everyone to a man supports the team superbly home and away.

But since that result was "inevitable" lets all just smile and accept it.....

What a strange OP

Shouldn't the Knockers at least Knock before you argue with them? And why do they have to queue up?
Apart from that, it most certainly was not inevitable that we would lose, in fact I think most hoped that the win in the cup would be a springboard for the league. It's one thing having a bad day at the office, but having a bad year at the office will see us relegated.
As far as I can tell, most people are behind the manager and all are behind the club, but it's hard to get behind a team that doesn't seem to be good enough or even care enough.
I don't agree at all that fans shouldn't have and express opinions about players they don't think are performing well enough when we are hovering around the relegation zone - of course people have ways of expressing themselves which can grate or are not the most eloquent, but if a fan can't express a measure of dissatisfaction after losing to a team in the relegation zone then you might as well close down the forum.
And lastly I most certainly don't believe that putting up with defeat is "what supporting Sheffield United is all about" - it's about being part of a great club with great fans, watching great football and enjoying the good times. If that's not happening then people should not be content.

Couldn't have put it better.

So was the 1980-81 season.

At the same time then we had the equivalent of 39 points and sat 11th. We were relegated with the equivalent of 54 points.

At Clough's rate of success he is forecast to get 53. I suggest that this season with so many teams equally 'crap' that the points total required could be high. Get real, we are right in the shit.

What we lack is.

Goals
Points away from home.

Make sure both teams are on the pitch before you start the game.

I am so sick of reading them same words every time we lose , we all have a right to complain after a defeat. We are behind the team 16k fans back them each week at home ..... just don't slate the fans, some may be fickle but all clubs have them.
Hopes were high after the Villa win and we have been let down, fans will be upset.
We all want United to succeeded end of the day.

Its both ends of the spectrum , you could have just finished the post at your little red angry man.

Hang on a bit. How many people come on here and say 'I hope we lose'? How many say, 'I hate it when we play good'? How many openly come on and slag the team after a performance like last week? I think I speak for everyone who has the Blades in their hearts in saying we are all behind the club, but faced with us having a decent manager, and Chad Valley playing staff, what exactly are we going to do? I don't go every week to every match, but when I do, I meet up with Bladesmen all over who start off in a positive frame of mind and end up pissed off backwards by what we see out on the pitch. In fact I give you the last game I saw - Portsmouth 3 - 0 Sheffield United back end of last season when Pompey were doomed and we were still chasing a better foothold in the upper reaches of the division. We all went to the pub beforehand and the out on the terraces full of optimism and belief that really, Sheff United would batter Pompey and come away with three points. Even at 2-0 down and shipping some real pressure with Kitson being laughed at by the crowd up front and us pumping endless hoof at him, we still sung, we still encouraged and we still believed. At 3-0 however halfway through the second half with us looking like a cat shit ... would you expect us to still get behind the team because, you know, it just might work?

Feller - we have had too many bad months at the office. If this were comparative to 'bad days at the office', and it were my office - you'd have your desk cleared right now and be at the Job Centre.

Everyone has the right to knock ,its just some seem to do it more frequently and with a lot more relish than others.

Your (very long) post after that 3-0 loss was superb. It summed up everything I thought and so much more too. I bet most of your points are still applicable to this current team. I don't know how to add a link to that post but it would make interesting reading!!

Bad days make the good days all the more enjoyable. We are at the bottom of another major downward curve and the good times will come. With a couple more signings games like today will be won not lost.

Today was my fault. I had one of those 7 selection accumulators, one match in each of 7 sections, odds 55/1. United were the only one I got wrong!! Another pound to William Hill.

That should be "Cue the knockers"

Glad to help, as always.... :)

Fuck me, I'd never thought of that. How much money would I have saved over the years if I'd not bothered with the next game after a good result?
Mind, I'd have missed some cracking wins as well.

Your assertion seems to fly in the face of all those who think confidence is a key component in performance though. Surely, the performance last week would be the very essence of breeding confidence, not "inevitably" accepting a following defeat.

I think individuals and teams can raise their game for the big stage. In this case Villa Park.

The loss a lowly Notts. County is such a come down after the week before. I can appreciate the thought that this was likely to happen. In fact, I am sure NC mentioned the psycholgy of this situation in his pre match comments.

Still I don't like it. We should be more professional. The win at Villa should have been a massive boost to go on a long winning run.

I keep thinking we are going to find mid table security, but it is not proving easy and we are still too close to the relegation zone for comfort.

I agree did not expect us to win for some reason. Thought we would draw if I am honest.

You broke the golden rule do not bet on your own team.

So we have lost again today

...

It was almost inevitable that we would loose today after last weeks good result.

This statement is an indication of exactly what some of our fans have come to expect nowadays.

So we have lost again today. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Just in case you wasn't' aware; we are in the middle of January, there isn't much ground left to be making these statements anymore.
