Promotion based bonus

I remember CW when he came in saying he was going to attempt to simplify contracts in terms of bonuses etc. I’m sure there’s a promotion bonus in there (winning the title last year cost Kev £100k!) but as far as goals etc I’m not so sure anymore

He also told the Sunday Telegraph’s Business & Money supplement that he battled other teammates to score goals at Wimbledon after being offered £2,000 for every goal he scored.

He said: “We were the Crazy Gang and we did crazy things. We were an incredibly tight unit and we were ready to fight tooth and nail for each other.

“Wimbledon chairman Sam Hammam told me he would pay me an extra £2,000 for every goal I scored.

“That turned me into a monster. If we won a penalty in a match, I had to take it. If Dennis Wise was about to score a tap-in, I would push him out of the way so I could score the goal myself.

“Soon the other players started getting pi**ed off and asking for their own incentivised deals. Goalkeeper Dave Beasant was asking for a grand each time he kept a clean sheet and Dennis Wise was asking for £1,000 for every time he assisted a goal.

“This created a really nasty atmosphere among the players and fights kept breaking out in training. And we were a team who knew how to scrap!”

Let's hope they aren't on goal bonuses as it could cause disharmony as above.

When did Tufty play for Wimbledon?

Would a very large promotion only based bonus be just as effective as signings.
For example £20million divided by 60 frontline playing/coaching staff would = £333,333k in a lump sum. Now that’s a ludicrous amount obviously but it’s a relatively small price to pay to get to the riches of the premier.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the idea ?

I have some experience in this area. Bonuses do not make people more effective. They change the emphasis of what they do. Which, in turn, may make them more effective, but it’s a by-product.

I doubt any of our players are on big goal bonuses under Wilder. A good one would be a grand to the charity of your choosing

bonuses have been in place a while
last season was 4 bottles of Peroni a goal and 4 per point gained

sharp got 120 bottles for his goals and 400 for the points
believe its 6 bottles this season

Just curious. How much bonus do players get for scoring a goal?
I used to work in a bank in the 1980's and got to see the contract of a very well known United player, I wont mention any names (but he was very close to Tony Agana) and he was on......wait for it.......£10 a goal! That wasn't much even in the 80's. UTB
